As I already mentioned, my son has been swimming since the healing of the umbilical wound. At 6 months we went to the pool and go there to this day. But it must be remembered that it is possible to splash and splash in the bath at home, the pool disposes to work aimed at improving and promoting the health of the child.

When the baby is still very small, does not walk, or does not even sit, the set of exercises with him is minimal and includes:

  1. Backstroke.
  2. Swimming on the stomach.
  3. Side swimming to strengthen the muscles of the abdomen and back.
  4. Reflex pushing away of legs from an obstacle (for example, bath walls).
  5. Training to dive.

Diving

Almost the most important thing, what parents and trainers of kids strive for. When I first got acquainted with the theory of baby swimming, I read how useful it was for both the lungs and the small heart.

What exactly happens is not clear to me (due to medical illiteracy), but my classmate, who leads her baby (after heart surgery), is very active in diving the child.

We started to dive right away, so there is no fear as such and nothing special was done. But many moms are afraid to push their one-month baby with his head in the water. And I understand them. The first dives in the bath took place without me. Our dad is still a sadist. )

How to learn to dive

If suddenly your baby has had this reflex (it is for all newborns – to hold its breath), it is not terrible. It can be made conditional.

At first, the child is taught to hold his breath on land: after a loud and clear phrase: dive, blow on the baby in the face. After he begins to fearlessly stop breathing for a short time, you can start training in the water.

Again, we say we dive and pour a bucket of water on our heads. So we repeat with each lesson more often – depending on the reaction of the baby.

After passing (successful!) This stage, it is possible after dipping for a couple of seconds to dip the baby’s head into the water.

The next step in the development of this reflex will be simply diving, without watering. And of course, aerobatics is when the baby dives at the request of the mother to the bottom for a toy.

But it should be remembered that all this must be done in the presence of a specialist, and preferably by a specialist himself.

What else can you do with them)

When the baby is a little older and starts walking – a great exercise to strengthen the muscles of the legs will be walking along the bottom. In our case, this proceeds as follows: figures are scattered around the pool sorter, and the son collects them and brings them into shape. Here already and the brain trains)).

Diving from the sides and getting from the bottom of toys is also a great exercise. The main thing is that all the kids I saw are very happy when they manage to get something.

Someone likes to deal with inflatable sleeves, life buoy and other freebie tools, but they didn’t go to us, which made the instructor incredibly happy. We are more like floundering all the limbs at the same time. Perhaps this is why we disappoint our grandmothers with the lack of child fat …

Each month, summing up, we are offered all new exercises, more and more complicated and aimed at further strengthening all muscle groups.

My son loves the swimming pool very much and I’m thinking of increasing the class to three from two times a week. After all, for mom there is nothing more expensive than a healthy and happy child.
