The turbidity of the water in the aquarium does not appeal to anyone: neither the fish nor the plants, nor the owners of the aquarium. This makes the aquarium unattractive, reduces visibility, contributes to poor plant growth and diminishes the brightness of the fish.
Buying a new equipment for the aquarium and the glass fish house itself, the novice aquarist is counting on impeccable cleanliness, safety and the absence of all kinds of risk factors for pollution of the aquatic environment. In fact, sometimes it happens the other way around.
The materials used in the manufacture of aquariums often have a heterogeneous structure, which leads to its destruction during a long stay in the water.

Design elements purchased from random sellers may have a chemical composition that, under the action of water, forms finely dispersed compounds that precipitate.
Being heavier than water, such particles settle to the bottom, covering it with a thin layer, as well as large leaves of plants and other decorative elements. At the slightest movement of water, including even the harsh actions of fish, this veil rises from the bottom and spreads through the entire water column. Such a suspension is usually white in color, odorless, does not depend on the intensity of illumination and water temperature.
It cannot be removed with a net, siphon or other mechanical means.
Another reason that the water in the aquarium is turbid is the settling of excess fish food. Some of its species are soaked to the flocks, not being eaten, and being heavier than water, they settle on the ground and create a soft multicolored layer there.
If the water in the aquarium becomes cloudy, what to do? Such a question is faced by many professionals and amateurs when an unusual presence of light suspended particles appears in the water.
How to make it clear and clean again?
There are several ways. The choice between them depends on the cause that caused the liquid to cloud.
To begin, the aquarium should be disassembled and thoroughly washed all its components using special detergents for aquariums.
Then with a brush to process all the design elements (stones, grottoes, remnants of destroyed ships and others). Especially often possible dyeing homemade jewelry made from drywall, foam, shell rock and other heterogeneous raw materials.
If the crumbling process continues during the cleaning process, it is necessary to treat such parts with adhesive compounds and coat them with waterproof paint.
Flooding water, you need to be confident in its quality. It is better to use peeled options.
In areas with high natural hardness of water – defend it in an open container for 3-4 hours to precipitate a possible sediment.
In the fight against such water suspensions fine filters installed in certain places are effective.
Experts recommend and sedimentation method. It is necessary to turn off all injection devices and allow the suspension time to stand free.
Then gently suck the resulting soft over-base layer using a regular homemade or professional siphon. Lower one end of the hose into this suspension, start the pulling movements in it, lower the other end into the tank to collect the unnecessary mixture and keep it in this state until the sediment is completely drained.
How to feed fish to avoid water turbidity?
Depending on the number of people inhabiting the aquarium, it is necessary to determine the approximate amount of food needed. Define it as follows. Feeding is done at the same time for 7-10 days.
Feed must swim in water for no more than 20 minutes. After that, the remnants must be carefully collected with a special net.
Subsequently, the fish will get used to such a regime and there will be no need for free swimming. Thus, it is possible to determine how much food the inhabitants of the water need to saturate.
True, there are species that eat food that has settled to the bottom, for example, catfish. For such fish, they buy special food, which is heavier than water and when it goes to sleep in an aquarium, it immediately sinks to the bottom.
The time and duration of their feeding can also be accurately calculated.
Food should be given high quality, reliable in epidemiological terms and safe for health. From its presence, the water should not be painted, turbid or smell.
It is unacceptable that it bloom or lose transparency.
Before you get rid of the turbidity of water, you must determine the cause of this phenomenon. If the visible risk factors are minimized, you can apply chemicals, the choice of which should be carried out only in specialized stores, guaranteeing their quality and safety.
The problem of turbidity is surmountable. The main thing is not to despair and follow the goal confidently and systematically.
The aquarium should be transparent, spotlessly clean and perfectly neat!
