Treatment of hexamitosis in fish in the general aquarium

All living things on the planet are sick, and aquarium fish are no exception. Hexamitosis is one of the widespread diseases of fish.

It not only affects the beauty of pets, but also can be fatal, so all owners of aquarium fish should study in detail the causes of this pathology and know how to cure it.

This is a parasitic disease that affects the intestines of the inhabitants of piece water bodies, as well as their gall bladder. It’s pretty easy to define.: holes, ulcers and grooves of various sizes appear on the pet’s body.

In the people, this disease is called perforated disease.

Spironulosis develops when parasites-flagellates get into the body of fish. The parasite refers to a single-celled, drop-shaped species. The largest representatives are about 12 microm.

There are flagella on his body, which is why his name has gone. Parasites reproduce by dividing, even when they are inactive.

It is worth noting that the flagella is excreted along with the waste products of the fish, and this carries a greater threat to the unaffected inhabitants.

Hexamitosis is manifested, as a rule, more often in salmon fish. In this situation, the lesions appear on the sides and on the head of pets. The greatest danger of the disease is for the following representatives of the aquarium:

Other types of fish can become infected only in an invasive way. Before that, they are only carriers.

Their disease can attack only if the necessary conditions for its development are created in the aquarium.

The carriers of the disease are: the carp family (rudd, carp, bream, white-eyed, roach, roach, barbel and others); fights of the family of bindlings; guppy The smallest probability of becoming a victim of flagellates at catfish, eels, neons, pymelodus and macronagnatus.

Their disease is also determined by the appearance of ulcers on the body or head.

Virtually all aquarists believe that hexamytosis occurs because of ignoring the simplest rules for caring for the inhabitants of a piece of water and their habitat. There are such reasons:

  1. Incorrectly selected food: its quality may be low or it is completely spoiled.
  2. Non-compliance with the diet (pets overfeed or do not feed).
  3. Reduced immunity of fish, as their bodies do not have enough vitamins and minerals.

But studies indicate that such reasons are only auxiliary. They can not cause disease, but only provoke it.

The pathogens enter the aquarium with soil, poor-quality food and water, as well as with vegetation. Zhgutikonosets does not produce itself in an aquarium until favorable conditions appear in the reservoir, and only then does it begin to actively proliferate, thereby causing the development of the disease.

The result can be seen with the naked eye. If you do not start treatment in time, the inhabitants of the aquarium will die.

According to scientists, these pathogens are in almost all fish, especially for young. It is worth noting that if a fish has suffered a disease, then it will not be able to get sick again, She develops immunity for life.

This means that the treatment was correct and the individual was able to produce antibodies. Hexamitosis is very dangerous, as it can cause an epidemic in an artificial reservoir.
