Symptoms and treatment of decoys in aquarium fish

Many aquarists are faced with such an unpleasant phenomenon as ichthyophthyriosis. The disease spreads very quickly and affects all the inhabitants of the aquarium.

Manka in fish is a disease of infectious nature, which is caused by equal-sized infusoria. As soon as its first signs are noticed, it is necessary to take measures immediately, as an ichik depletes the body of fish every day, which can lead to their death.

The main symptom that speaks about the appearance of the disease is white dots on the pet’s body. At first they appear in insignificant quantities, but with each subsequent day they become more.

The points are so small that they can be compared with semolina, which is why the disease got its name. The ichthyophthiriosis bacteria enter the general pool with water, food, and also the soil, after which they are attached to the scales of inhabitants.

The semolina is tubercles, not white spots. Parasites are able to go out through these bumps. There are such symptoms of the disease:

  • pets start to behave restlessly, rub their bodies against various objects in the aquarium, soil and plants;
  • if the internal organs are affected, then the fish become indifferent to the surrounding stimuli;
  • pets have an appetite;
  • they often float on the surface, swallowing air;
  • eye damage can lead to blindness;
  • the body turns pale and is covered with a touch of white.

If urgent measures are not taken, the fish will die because of oxygen starvation and damage to a large area of the epithelium.

Disease fish semolina can attack different types of fish, so the therapy should be carried out throughout the aquarium. It is proved that a pet can get ichthyophthyriosis once in a lifetime.

Then immunity is produced.

Viviparous individuals are most prone to the disease. As for the person, he is not afraid of this bacterium. There are such reasons for infection with decoy:

  • live food, which was brought from a tropical area (it is rather difficult to remove an infusorium from plants);
  • in the artificial reservoir a new resident appeared;
  • contaminated soil;
  • poor-quality cleaning of the reservoir (you should regularly remove plaque from the aquarium and clean the filter);
  • appearance in the aquarium of a new fish;
  • sudden changes in temperature;
  • stressful situations for fish.

When the infection proceeds at the first stage and there are no white bumps yet, it is impossible to see it.

It is important not only to treat pets, but also to carry out activities aimed at disinfecting the aquarium itself. It used to be that the disease of aquarium fish semolina can be cured very easily.

Nowadays, getting rid of it has become more difficult, because ciliates have developed immunity to the means of combating them.

As soon as the first symptoms are noticed, need to start treatment, otherwise, during the week, the inhabitants of the aquarium will die. Therapy can be carried out in two ways.

The first is to move the infected individuals to quarantine in a separate capacity, the second is to carry out treatment in the general aquarium.

From the white dots get rid of with the help of salt, peroxide, brilliant green, antibiotics, as well as a mixture of brilliant green with other drugs.

Treat semolina in fish can be malachite green. First, the drug is added to the aquarium at the rate of 0.09 mg per 1 liter of water. After a couple of days, the concentration is reduced to 0.06 mg per 1 liter of water.

At the same time, it is worth every day to replace water in an artificial reservoir by ¼. The treatment lasts until the white spots disappear, and then another 2-3 days to fix the result.

Treatment of decoys in aquarium fish with salt is appropriate in the case when the bacteria were brought in by local water. Within two weeks, apply 10 grams of salt to 10 liters of water.

During treatment, it is necessary to raise the temperature in the aquarium to 32 degrees. At the end of therapy, once a week you need to change water by 1/3 within a month. Ciliates perish due to the fact that the oxygen required for their vital activity becomes less.

A high temperature prevents reproduction.

Treat semolina in aquarium fish can and hydrogen peroxide. To do this, a 30% solution of the drug is added to water at the rate of 1 ml per 10 l. It is important not to increase the concentration, otherwise it threatens to burn the fins.

With ichthyophthyridiosis, you can make a mixture of malachite green with other medicines. Antipar, Furacilin and Nitrofuran are used. Antipar is a versatile drug. based on formalin and brilliant green.

It is used at the rate of 1 ml per 50 liters of water. The course is 5 days. You can repeat it in a week.

Some pets may die, as the drug is intolerable for them. But sometimes it is worth sacrificing a small number of inhabitants of the aquarium in order to remove the parasites and save most of the fish.

Furacilino is a yellow water-soluble powder. The treatment is carried out with a solution prepared from 0.1 grams of the drug and 50 liters of water for two weeks.

After each procedure, the water in the aquarium should be changed.

Well semolina can be treated with brand-name drugs from the pharmacy. Among them it is worth mentioning Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Tetru, Serru.

Before using them, you should carefully study the instructions.
