We didn’t miss the planned doctor’s visits. In a month, at three, at six … Every time everything was fine. No deviations, no problems. And suddenly in the year the orthopedist diagnoses flat-valgus deformity of the foot.
Admission to the free clinic
I was at a loss. The examination was planned, the queue in the corridor was large, the doctor did not have time to talk to me. At first he just wrote a diagnosis and tried to get rid of me. But I am a stubborn person, so I insisted on explaining what is written in the map.
According to the orthopedist, the foot of the child is arched. It needs to be fixed. When I asked how to do this, the doctor said that we need special shoes that you should ALWAYS wear – in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, on the street, at home. It does not need to be worn only during sleep. And still need massage and gymnastics. And in general, at the orthopedist’s turn is behind the door, and I distract him from work.
Where do young mothers turn when they don’t know what to do?
Unfortunately, to the internet. The Internet told me what a valgus is. As it turned out, the foot is deformed under the weight of the body when the child has insufficiently developed ligamentous apparatus. In this case, the foot flexes on the inside, and the front section shifts slightly.
And then the all-knowing Internet drew pictures of subsequent problems with the legs, with the spine. Hair bristled with horror. I cursed myself for not restricting the child in the diet, he gained weight well. Therefore, I went to the year.
Examination by a paid doctor
There was only one option – to undergo another examination by an orthopedist. This time, he has paid, because at least he will not say that he has other patients in the corridor, because he has paid for the reception. And I can ask everything I need to know.
Found a good orthopedist. I read many reviews about his work, made an appointment. On the day of the reception came, paid, received a ticket to the reception. Near the doctor’s office there was no queue, went in time.
The doctor examined the legs of my son. I examined in different positions: lying and standing, which the orthopedist did not do in the free clinic. Son frankly outraged, then began to cry.
So, what the doctor said. That many children under three have problems with their feet, because babies are born with a round foot and walking for the foot – this is a test. Therefore, up to three years, a similar diagnosis – flat-valgus deformity of the foot is not a deviation.
What needs to be done so that in the future there are no problems?
1 TOput on shoes with a stiff back and side around the heel, to reduce the load on the foot, as well as with a good, tight and high instep. This is necessary to maintain the foot and prevent further deformation.
But you do not need to force the child to walk in shoes around the clock. The legs should rest. It is also useful for a child to walk barefoot, especially in summer, when you can run on grass and sand.
2. Massazh. Massage Technician a lot. You can apply for the procedure in special salons and institutions. You can try doing it at home. Video tutorials on the Internet is enough.
3. Fromspecial exercises. There are many of them, but with a one-year-old child they are difficult to perform, so we postponed the exercises until better times, when the child will understand what I want to do when the exercises can be turned into a game. In the meantime, instead of exercise, you can buy a special massage mat.
The doctor said that up to three years do not need to worry about anything. Proper shoes and massage – while this is the most important thing.
Instead of conclusion
I do not want to say that the free clinic is bad and you need to run to a paid clinic. I just always reinsured in everything that concerns the health of my son. To date, a doctor’s appointment in a paid clinic is inexpensive. It seems to me that if a doctor at the clinic cannot explain what to do and how to be, then it is worth contacting another specialist.
