Many families have cats, dogs and other animals. With the advent of the child, often the whole family is sure that you need to get rid of pets. And gives them away for a while. Or forever. We had it all wrong. When our son was born, the cat has been a member of our family for ten years. Therefore, the question of how to give it somewhere, we have not even raised.
By that time I knew that it was not so scary, the main thing is to properly prepare for the meeting of the baby with a pet, especially since we have an adult, intelligent and calm cat.
Prevention of animal-borne diseases
No matter how much we love our smaller brothers, we still need to soberly assess the situation. The danger of pets for a child is:
– fungal diseases
– infectious diseases
Our cat is home, it does not walk around the city’s streets and dirty cellars, but we still regularly take preventive measures against various diseases.
one. We give a cure for worms and treat for fleas. He does not have fleas, but since they are carriers of helminth eggs, this is a must.
2 Once a year we make a vaccine against fungal diseases (depriving). You can still be vaccinated against the common cold and typhus, but we somehow managed to do without it.
3 We observe hygiene. We try ourselves and teach children to wash their hands after talking with their pets (I think our Vaska is not offended at us).
Often, the motive to prevent the child from communicating with the cat becomes the fear of allergies. Although here, it is just the opposite: cat allergy occurs more often in those people who did not communicate with cats in childhood.
I want to note that no matter how clever a cat is, you still need to be careful and watch its behavior. The child is still small, annoying, and cats are used to scratching. Also, some cats are not indifferent to cots.
The benefits of communicating with animals
I honestly do not understand why everyone is so afraid of the presence of a cat in the house when the baby grows. After all, communication with animals brings considerable benefits for the development of the child.
one. Knowledge of the animal world. Agree that if a child has the opportunity to observe the animal, its habits, body structure, then his ideas about the world around him greatly expand. He knows firsthand how the cat meows and purrs, how he eats, jumps and plays with the string.
2 Communicating with a pet, touching it, the child receives a sensory development and becomes acquainted with such sensations as soft, warm, fluffy.
3 A child learns to take care and respect for his neighbor when he feeds him, opens the door for him, strokes.
How does friendship appear
Our cat showed right away that he was not indifferent to what was going on around him. He clearly did not understand who it appeared in our apartment and why there was so much noise from him. When the son started screaming (and his voice was not weak), the cat started running around the apartment, looked into our eyes, as if he wanted to say: Do something!
The son, of course, also showed interest in the cat and, as soon as he could reach the soft skin, immediately appreciated it. Since then, she loves to stroke her furry friend. Of course, sometimes he can run after the cat, knock on it with his hand, but we do not allow him to treat the animal like that.
The cat, by the way, at first did not approve the appearance of a small person in the house, now it seems that he understood that everything is not so bad. He responds faster to inept-to-be son than to my usual kitty-kitty.
Now the son shares sausage with the cat (the main thing is to make sure that the opposite does not happen), pours him a drink and opens the door to the toilet. And the cat entertains his son with his games and purrs and rubs against his leg when he passes by, which causes the child to have a constant smile.
Are your children friends with pets?
