May-sling to help mothers who lead an active lifestyle
Modern mom after the birth of the baby can easily lead a habitual way of life: to talk a lot, make purchases, go in transport, work on housework and at the same time not to part with your beloved little one. She will be helped in this sling – a very convenient device for carrying children. When you carry a child in it, your mother’s hands remain free, and she is able to move without any restrictions. Choosing the right model, do not ignore the sling-may. Its design involves placing the child in a physiological position in front or in the back with a uniform distribution of the load on your shoulders and lower back. What are its advantages and disadvantages?
May-slings, in which today they carry their babies moms in Europe and America, Asia and Africa, it turns out, came to us from ancient China. There they are called May-tai. In English – mei tai. And Japanese women for a long time used to carry children a similar in design fabric sling, called onbuhimo.
And here is what is remarkable: both Chinese women and Japanese women have been tugging their newborn babies with cloth from the first days of their babies’ life.
Of course, today May-Sling looks more bright and stylish compared to the ancient May-Thay, but its design remained practically unchanged, and it performs the same functions: it keeps the baby in close proximity to the mother, releasing her hands and distributing the load evenly on muscles of the shoulder girdle, back and waist of the woman. Although, why do we only talk about women? In the modern world very often you can meet dads who prefer to carry their precious burden in the sling.
If you are also a handyman, try to sew sling-mai yourself. Take into account all your needs and come up with a unique design. Then another such a transfer will not be in the whole world!
The basic pattern for May slings is quite simple. But it can be supplemented with a head restraint, for example, or a hood.
- Dissolve the details, not forgetting the allowances for seams (0.5-1 cm): the back, straps, sintepon to seal them (base pattern).
- Place the straps face-to-face, place a sintepon under them, turn off. Turn out there, the edge is bent inside and also mow. Iron and lay a finishing stitch along the perimeter.
- Work the back edge around the perimeter with a double-folded seam (inside-out).
- In the lower back, sew the waist strap. Secure with a finishing stitch (triangle or square).
- From above, sew the shoulder straps and also lay a finishing stitch for fixing.
- Ottuzhte finished product.
And wear your baby in it with great pleasure!
I regret that I did not start using the sling since I was born ... Now I wear it less often, very heavy and long, and on the street it's slippery, very insecure I feel myself - we are dragging myself with a stroller. A girlfriend, I still buy a May Sling, I'm sure in it, maybe she can wind up in a pose of a cradle.
Mother of a wonderful son. I am interested in issues of health, development and upbringing of children.
