Folk remedies for conjunctivitis in children: should they be used and how effective are they?
Conjunctivitis, which means inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eye, can affect every child, regardless of age. It can appear even in the first hours after birth.
Symptoms of the disease are quite unpleasant, and you need to start treatment in time to prevent dangerous consequences. In some cases, conjunctivitis can be treated at home.
Conjunctivitis has a mass of variants and clinical forms. Some of them are not dangerous and can be treated at home, others are more serious, and therapy should be carried out in a stationary setting. Initially, you need to show the baby to the ophthalmologist and pediatrician who will establish an accurate diagnosis and help determine the correct treatment tactics.

Most often a specialist appoints drops. If the disease has a viral etiology, then they can be:
- Ophthalmoferon. The drug includes dimedrol and recombinant interferon 2-alpha, has antiviral and antihistamine action. This makes it possible to eliminate the viral agent and reduce the swelling of inflamed tissues. It is recommended to apply it within 1-2 days from the appearance of the first symptoms of the disease.
Drip up to 8 times a day for 1 drop in each affected cavity. Apply for five days. It is possible to develop an allergy with sensitivity to the components of the drug.
Children need 8 times a day to drip on a droplet of the drug in each conjunctival cavity.
The drug drips on a droplet every hour during the day and every two hours at night before the condition stabilizes. After drip drop by drop during the day every hour and after three hours at night. Continue to dig in for 3-4 days after recovery to fix the result. Maximum course of application; three weeks.
When treating conjunctivitis at home in newborns, they are laid a small pea ointment, babies and older children; length up to one centimeter. Use for another three days after the symptoms are eliminated.
