Diarrhea and loose stool in breastfed babies: treatment of diarrhea in a newborn baby

Liquid stool in the baby: what can I give the baby on breastfeeding from diarrhea

Feeding a toddler is always a rather difficult period, and a woman should closely monitor her nutrition, as it will directly affect the baby’s condition. And any changes can make inexperienced mom and dad worry.

So, the liquid stool of a baby is not always a sign of disease and health problems. The fact that the baby’s body is still being formed, adapts to the substances received, and changes in the stool, he can react to them.

In the first two months of life, the fluid and irregular stools in the baby are quite normal. Usually, by the third month, it normalizes. However, the reasons may be different. Let’s figure out what triggers diarrhea in a month-old, two-and-three-month-old baby on breastfeeding.

Parents, noticing the changes in the stool of the baby, do not immediately panic, and it is worth analyzing the possible reasons.

The most common factors, leading to this phenomenon, the following:

  • Infections.Intestinal infection can occur in the baby, even if the parents comply with absolutely all standards of hygiene.

The reason is that the baby’s body is not yet strong, and its protective functions are very weak. In this case, the baby can cry, feel a sharp pain in the tummy. There may be an increase in temperature.

  • Dysbacteriosis. It also often causes a loose stool. It can be a reaction to various medications, mainly antibiotics.

Treatment in this case will be based on the probiotics prescribed by the doctor.

  • Mother’s nutrition. These or other foods consumed by a lactating woman can contribute to the dilution of feces.

Most often these are fruits and vegetables with a lot of fiber: apples, pears, beets, cucumbers and so on. But it can be other products that are new for the child.

  • Intolerance to food. Do not exclude the possibility of congenital intolerance of certain substances by the baby.

This provokes a violation of the digestive process. This pathology makes itself felt gradually and in medicine is called the malabsorption enzyme.

  • Teeth. Stool changes are not always associated with the gastrointestinal tract. Diarrhea often accompanies the teeth that began to be cut.

Usually it occurs in infants over six months, but it is possible and earlier eruption. External signs, which should pay attention.

  • If mixtures are introduced into the diet, it is important to observe hygiene as closely as possible. Bottles need to be sterilized. Mom before feeding should wash her hands to soap.

When introducing lures, the right conditions for storing foods should be observed, in particular already opened jars with baby food.

The dishes should be clean and dry. At the kid it should be personal. Before you give the baby to eat, do not lick spoons and nipples.

Temperature samples should be done only on the wrist. Be sure to wash your hands and foods that are eaten or used for cooking.

The liquid stool of the baby is not a reason to panic, because in many cases this is quite normal. But do not ignore this phenomenon and additional symptoms. For your own peace of mind, it's better to go to the doctor.
