How does the process of mucosal tube leakage occur before delivery?
Throughout the period of pregnancy, the entrance to the cervix closes a small gel-like lump of mucus, the output of which is a harbinger of the baby’s soon appearance. The condition in which the cork is in front of childbirth shows how much the child is protected from infections and other factors that threaten his life and health.
Even before pregnancy during the ovulation period, the uterus produces cervical mucus. If fertilization was successful, it condenses and clogs the passage to the embryo. Contrary to popular belief, this protective barrier is not needed to keep the water surrounding the baby in the abdomen of the mother. For this purpose a dense amniotic fluid is formed.
The overlap of the cervical canal with thick secretions is necessary to protect the fetus from external threats. The vagina is constantly multiplying bacteria, many of which can harm the embryo. Mucus, overlapping the cervical canal, has pronounced bactericidal properties against any pathogens. The secretion of glands does not stop until the very birth. Thanks to this, the cork keeps its freshness and efficiency until the end of pregnancy.
The mucous contents of the cervical canal can go away when you visit the toilet or the bathroom, or you can secrete off when walking, remaining on your underwear. Often this process goes unnoticed, especially with partial mucus discharge, when it mixes with other secretions. In this case only the obstetrician can inform the pregnant woman about the fait accompli.
In primiparous women and with the bearing of the second and subsequent children, the departure of the natural protective barrier occurs with slight differences:
- At the first pregnancy the body of a woman only learns to start the necessary processes in the reproductive system. This slows down the production of necessary hormones. Uterine tissues are dense and not sufficiently elastic. Because of this, the protective barrier usually comes out in parts for a long time. Often, this process is accompanied by small bloody inclusions and slight pulling pain. They appear due to a change in the structure of the cervical epithelium and the rejection of unnecessary cells.
- Cork before delivery in the miscarriages usually departs quickly and painlessly. Blood is most often absent, since the epithelium has already been fully prepared in the previous pregnancy. Time after the departure of the clot before the onset of contractions is greatly reduced.
It happens, if a woman does not have pathologies of pregnancy, and there are no scars and erosion on the internal genital organs. In other cases, the secretions can change color and acquire an unpleasant odor, and the process of their departure before giving birth often inflicts severe pain.
Determine the need for medical intervention can only a doctor.
With the exception of these emergency cases, Mom may not change her daily routine, when the stopper before delivery begins to leave her body. The protection of the fetus from infection after this event does not disappear, this role takes on the barrier in the form of amniotic fluid and a dense bubble that keeps them. Therefore, you can safely take a bath and not worry about the water that has got into the vagina. But it is better not to visit public baths, swimming pools and the sea.
Childbirth will occur after a few days or weeks. Therefore, there is time for rest and preparation for the meeting with the long-awaited baby.
