Behind the back of a four-month-old baby, there is one more month of life left. During this time, he became stronger, grew up and learned a lot. Adjusting to the new needs and capabilities of the baby, his daily routine should change. It will continue to consist of alternation of feeding, sleeping and waking periods, filled with developing games, gymnastics and hygienic procedures, only the duration of these periods will change.

Approximate schedule for a 4-month-old baby:

  • 6: 00-8: 00 Morning awakening, the first meal, a complex of hygienic procedures (with obligatory washing and change of a diaper), reception of air baths combined with morning gymnastics, the period of active wakefulness.
  • 8: 00-10: 00 Morning dream.
  • 10: 00-12: 00 The second meal, active leisure (exercise, light massage, communication with loved ones, developing games).
  • 12: 00-14: 00 Walk, combined with a dream in the fresh air (about the first walks).
  • 14: 00-16: 00 The third meal, a tour of the apartment, active games, developmental activities.
  • 16: 00-18: 00 Evening walk, acquaintance with the outside world, sleep.
  • 18: 00-21: 00 The fourth meal, games and development classes with family members, bathing crumbs.
  • 21: 00-22: 30 Preparation for sleep.
  • 22:30 Night meal.
  • 23: 00-6: 00 Night sleep.


How to teach a baby to sleep through the night / our daily routine from 4 months:

The organization, duration and number of walks with the child remain the same as in the previous month: take it to fresh air is necessary for 1,5-2 hours twice a day. Of course, if too bad weather conditions prevent it: strong frost, wind or unbearable heat.

Do not forget that the beginning of the walk should be cognitive for the baby, who began to show an active interest in the world around him, so you need to tell him about everything that is on the way: about the seen plants, animals and birds, about passers-by and passing vehicles.

The rest of the walk the child is still peacefully sleeping in the stroller: thanks to the influx of fresh air, which saturates the cells of the brain with oxygen, this sleep will be particularly long and useful for him.

Since the child is awake for 4 months for eight hours, this time must be filled with a large number of developing games.

  • Very useful for a kid walks, tours of the apartment. Traveling on the hands of adults, he gets acquainted with the name and purpose of objects in it. All the information received is stored in his memory. After a while you can see this. Name some familiar object, and you will see that the crumb will turn the head in his direction;
  • For the development of tactile sensations it is useful to give the baby bright toys with different texture of the surface. They can be hard and soft, smooth and rough, bumpy and have holes. The color of toys should be either monophonic, or containing no more than two or three colors. The boundaries of the color transition must be clear;
  • The four-month age is a fertile time for the use of developing mats, entertainment centers and mobile phones. Promoting the development of hearing, sight and petty sensorics, which arouse the motor activity of the baby, all these toys are very useful for him, however, one should not offer the child several things at once: he must concentrate on one thing;
  • It is useful for kids to listen to rhythmic music. Clapping her hands to the beat of music, my mother will contribute to the formation of a baby's sense of rhythm. You can take the crumb in your hands and smoothly swirl with him under a beautiful melody;
  • The child should tell tales, sing children's songs, read poetry and nursery rhymes. From this age it is necessary to accustom the kids to viewing pictures and reading books;
