Even if the pregnancy is uneventful, in the first trimester it is better not to plan travel unnecessarily. During this period, the organs of the child are laid, and any effects, including radiation and sudden pressure drops in the cabin, can cause abortion.
Taboos are usually canceled from the beginning of the second trimester: when the fetus is already formed and gaining weight, you can go on vacation. However, before embarking on a trip, consult your doctor: for any complications of pregnancy during the trip, you may need highly skilled medical care, which is not available in every country.
The golden rule says: the body is easier to transfer movement within the usual climate zone. Permissible as the temperature difference in the 5−7 degrees. It is better not to cross the equator, and not to master another continent.
The time difference should be no more than two hours: the more the usual mode changes, the harder it is for the body to adapt.
If your route does not fit into this framework and it is impossible to convince you, before you buy a voucher, evaluate the favorite resort from a security point of view. For example, exotic countries highly esteemed by our tourists pose several threats at once.
Cholera is still found not only in distant Brazil, but also in nearby Turkey and in pretty popular India, where, in addition to this scourge, plague is also recorded. One hand washing of such diseases does not protect: they are transmitted through the bites of insects or rodents.
Vaccinations for pregnant women are contraindicated. If the vaccination could not be completed before conception, such places on the map are best covered.
Another danger that can be encountered in outlandish lands: unusual foods and spices. These foods can cause intestinal intolerance, flatulence or bloating. Such problems increase the tone of the uterus, so unfamiliar or little-used products during pregnancy is better not to try.
In restaurants, order native dishes of European cuisine, not raw, not too salty and without spices (discuss your wishes separately when ordering).
Hot countries are also not the best place to relax during pregnancy. In the heat, food and ready-made dishes deteriorate quickly, and microorganisms easily multiply on any surface, so there is a high probability of contracting intestinal infections.
If the sanitary conditions or the quality of tap water at the resort leave much to be desired, even vegetables and fruits washed under the tap pose a danger. In addition, infection can occur during bathing, both at sea and in the pool.
Toxins (the waste products of harmful microbes) get through the blood to the baby and can cause a variety of effects, including stopping the development of the fetus.
If the country is already selected, you can think about how best to get to your destination.
Not all are allowed on board. Each airline sets its own rules, but usually pregnant women are allowed to fly for up to 28 weeks. At a later stage, overloads during takeoff and landing can cause premature labor.
Pressure drops, causing a decrease in blood vessels, increase the risk of placental abruption, therefore, if there are any violations in its work, it is better to transfer to another type of transport. The plane is also dangerous due to the fact that the air-conditioning zone in it is closed, therefore, if one of the passengers is sick, the virus easily spreads throughout the cabin.
Oxolinic ointment or a protective medical mask will help protect you from a cold during the flight.
When examining before boarding, the expectant mother may need a certificate from the doctor confirming pregnancy. Such a document will allow to avoid passage through the frame with harmful irradiation and limit it to manual examination. Even with a normal pregnancy, aboard for more than four hours is impossible.
All this time, you need to periodically walk through the cabin, and while sitting in a chair, lightly stroke your legs from the bottom up to avoid stagnation of lymph and edema. Shoes should be comfortable, to relieve the load on the veins and the prevention of varicose veins are required compression stockings.
Unlike all other types of transport, traveling in a train threatens only discomfort. Fatigue for the body of a pregnant woman is the same stress that should be avoided.
To do this, it is better to spend time lying down on the road, occasionally changing position, every 10 hours, 10 minutes to walk around the car.
If the road to be close – to the country or to a nearby city, it is worth considering the disadvantages of travel in both private and public transport.
Doctors do not recommend driving for more than two hours, and as fatigue is advised to make stops to rest. Sitting on the driver’s seat, you need to remember that on the road there can be a lot of stressful situations, and the sharpness of the reaction in pregnant women is reduced: because of a change in the hormonal background, irritability is more often manifested, which makes it difficult to concentrate.
In the subway is the easiest to collide with hypoxia – lack of oxygen. Not all pregnant women experience it, the reaction depends on the individual firmness of the body: the stronger it is, the easier it adapts to the harsh conditions. There is no need to rebuild yourself: it is better to take measures at the first signs of lack.
The forerunners of hypoxia are dizziness, sharply cold hands and feet, flies before the eyes. If these symptoms appear, go outside to the nearest station, sit on a bench, breathe air.
If it does not get any easier, ask for help from others, so that if necessary they can quickly call an ambulance.
