A bright Christian holiday is approaching – Easter. Traditionally, the whole family prepares for it, and children, as a symbol of the continuation of life, are given special attention.
Introduce in the process of preparing for the holiday baby, so as not to deprive him of entertaining, instructive activities and the opportunity from an early age to become not just a spectator, but an active participant in the bright tradition.
Biblical words are quite difficult for children to understand, so for the youngest it will be clearer if you tell about the Easter holiday in your own words, show pictures from the children’s Bible. This is an excellent reason to explain to the child what good and evil are, love and self-sacrifice.
Easter is one of the most revered holidays for Christians. The word “Easter” came to us from ancient Greek and means “deliverance” or “passage.”
This is what the main book of all Christians tells us, the Bible. The crucifixion of Christ took place on Friday, which we now call Passion, on Mount Calvary, near the city walls of Jerusalem.
One of the Savior’s disciples removed the Master’s body from the cross and buried it. According to Jewish custom, the coffin was a cave, carved into the rock.
They wrapped the body of the deceased with a cloth and laid it on a stone slab, but did not have time to smear it with incense (special oils). Therefore, at the dawn of the third day after the crucifixion of Jesus, women came to the cave, the disciples of Christ (Mary Magdalene, Mary of James, John, Salome, and others).
They brought fragrant miro to anoint the body, but an empty tomb appeared before their eyes. An angel in white clothes, sitting on a stone at the entrance to the cave, told those who had come that Jesus had risen from the dead.
Preparations for Easter began long before the holiday. Easter holidays were preceded by the longest and strictest post – the Great. He recalled 40 days during which the Savior fasted in the wilderness.
During Great Lent, all people had to ask God for forgiveness of their sins and prepare themselves spiritually for Easter. Next, the Holy Resurrection Day of Christ was preceded by Holy Week.
Every day of this week was filled with special meaning and deep meaning.
- Monday and Tuesday – painted eggs
- Wednesday and Thursday – baked Easter cakes, cooked jelly
- clean Thursday – before sunrise, they performed ablution of the body, as a symbol of purification from worldly vanity and sins, and during the day the whole family cleaned and dressed the dwelling. Why exactly Thursday was set aside to restore cleanliness and order in the house? The fact is that all worldly concerns should be finished no later than three days before Easter.
- Friday – strict fasting was observed and the suffering of Christ was recalled.
- Saturday – painted eggs and Easter cakes were consecrated in the church
- Sunday – on Easter night everyone went to church for vigil, and in the morning, returning home, they began to break their fast
One of the favorite Easter traditions is the exchange of painted eggs. There are several versions of the occurrence of this ritual. According to one of them, the first Easter egg was presented to the Roman emperor Tiberius by Mary Magdalene, coming to him with a gospel sermon.
Coming to the emperor with empty hands was not accepted, and Maria gave him a simple chicken egg. Upon hearing about the Resurrection of Christ, the emperor indignantly declared that resurrection is just as impossible as it is impossible for a simple egg to turn red.
At that very moment, the egg in the hands of Tiberius turned red.
Since then, Easter eggs must be painted. A child can be entrusted with such an important task as coloring eggs, but of course, under your supervision. Imagine the responsibility this little man will feel!
Of course, now you can buy amazingly finished stickers, but for kids and older children it will be much more pleasant to give grandparents or acquaintances a testicle, which may not be so amazingly beautiful, but with their own hands. And how much delight will turn the transformation of ordinary white eggs into red, blue, green, yellow!
Eggs painted in one color are called Krashenkami. You can do without artificial colors and use natural dye products.
- For yellow, turmeric, saffron, carrot, orange peel or mandarin can be used.
- For orange – paprika, ground chili pepper.
- For pink – red wine, red onion husks, cranberry juice, raspberries, beets.
- For burgundy – black currant, pomegranate juice.
- For blue and blue – the skin of blue potatoes, blueberries, red cabbage.
- For purple – juice of black grapes.
- For green – spinach.
Crush selected berries and vegetables.
Put in a saucepan and cover with water (1: 2 ratio). Dry dyes add 1 to 2 tbsp. in a glass of water.
To prevent the eggs from bursting, remove them from the refrigerator beforehand (in about two hours). Let them lie for an hour just on the table, and an hour in water at room temperature.
Before boiling eggs, add a decent amount of salt to the water – a couple of teaspoons with a slide.
Wash eggs, put into water, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes. For a more saturated color, you need to put more dye and increase the cooking time.
Remove the eggs from the water, cool and rub with vegetable oil.
Some families keep the custom of dyeing eggs “speckled.” Such eggs are called krapankami. To do this, wet eggs roll in dried rice, wrapped in gauze (the ends of gauze must be tightly tied with string to stick rice to the egg) and then cooked in a dye in the usual way.
And the most inventive ones simply spray paint on already painted eggs with the help of a toothbrush.
There are still eggs – eggs, painted by hand plot or ornamental patterns. Let your child show his imagination and color the eggs with a permanent marker or felt-tip pen to his taste. Also, the baby can use wax crayons (crayons).
On a warm egg, they melt and create beautiful patterns.

Decorating cakes is a favorite children’s entertainment. White glaze, bright placer sugar beads or candied fruit … And what fun at the end of the creative process with the whole family to wash the kitchen and the little artist!
Easter curds are traditionally made in the form of a four-sided pyramid – the personification of Calvary. Therefore, you will certainly need a poker box – a folding wooden form of four plates.
On the inner side of the boards, the letters “XB”, images of a cross, a spear, a cane, sprouted grains, sprouts and flowers, symbols of the suffering and resurrection of Christ, were usually cut out.
- 0.5 kg of cottage cheese
- 3 eggs
- 100 g butter
- 200 ml of cream
- 100 g of sugar
- raisins, candied fruits
Rub the curd. This can be done with a blender, sieve or meat grinder.
Soften the butter and add to the curd. Stir or whisk in a blender.
Leave the cottage cheese and start beating the eggs with sugar and vanilla until foaming.
Add cream and mix.
The resulting mass should be brewed. You can do it in a water bath, brewing 10 minutes. On the stove, the process is faster – the mass must be brought to a boil and cook, stirring for 2-3 minutes.
As a result, the liquid mass should thicken and resemble baby puree in consistency.
While the custard mass is cooling, prepare raisins and candied fruits. Raise the raisins with boiling water, rinse and dry.
Cut candied fruits if they are too large.
Mix raisins and candied fruits with boiled mass and curd.
Put the resulting mass in a pasochnitsa, lining it with wet gauze in several layers. Top cover with gauze, put the saucer and press down.
Bottom place a plate for serum. Leave in a cool place for 12 hours.
At the end of the required time, remove Easter from the form and decorate.
Holy Easter and eggs usually go on Saturday. Collect the Easter basket with the child: put Easter cakes, Easter eggs, painted with tiny eggs into it.
An older child will be delighted with his own Easter basket! Decorate it with elegant ribbons, flowers. The majestic Easter service will be a bright, unforgettable experience for the crumbs.
There will be a lot of people in the temple, so do not take your eyes off the rolling kid, make sure that he is not frightened.
One player holds his egg, the second hits his with his, whose egg remains whole – the winner.
From the inclined surface, the players take turns rolling eggs, trying to knock out the beautiful girl with each other.
Parents hiding eggs with surprises in different places in advance – cardboard, plastic, glued envelopes in the shape of eggs with small prizes or simply “Kinder surprises”.
The players split into two teams and must run to the finish line with a run with an egg and go back to pass the egg to the next teammate. You can diversify the game and keep a spoon in your hands, not in your hands.
In a narrow family circle, instead of a relay race, you can have a fun race with Easter eggs on spoons between all family members.
We hope the Holiday of the Resurrection of Christ will be special for your family, unforgettable and equally exciting for both adults and children.
