Stress is a special reaction of the body to any changes that go beyond the usual conditions, and not only unpleasant (illness, conflict, time pressure at work), but also joyful (unexpected surprise, holiday party). In response to the emergence of such a “stimulus”, the body collects all the forces and switches to a special mode of operation: each of us noticed more than once that in moments of excitement the heart begins to beat more often, breathing becomes intermittent, and sweat more strongly.

About the same thing happens during pregnancy. In itself, waiting for a baby is a stress for the body, because he has to work in an enhanced mode for all 9 months: hormone levels, circulatory system changes, the load on the internal organs and the spine increases, and the oxygen supply to the brain decreases.

To cope with this natural “physiological” stress is no easy task, and yet emotions are added to it – excitement, fear, anxiety. Probably, there is not a single woman “in position” who would not worry about the health of her future baby, did not worry about the upcoming birth, did not fear pain. These anxieties are natural – all that matters is whether a woman is able to keep them under control.

If emotions are going through the roof, this is reflected in the state of health of the future mother, and on the state of the baby.

The effects of stress can be very different: headache, dizziness (up to fainting), heart rhythm disturbances (for example, rapid heartbeat), increased pressure (especially dangerous in the third trimester, as it can lead to late toxicosis – gestosis). All this is not the best way affects the health and development of the unborn child: for example, due to high blood pressure, the baby’s supply of oxygen and nutrients is deteriorating.

Due to stress, the uterus muscle tone rises, and before the time of birth it is unsafe.

An important nuance in dealing with the effects of stress is the right regimen. It is important for the future mother to sleep at least 8 hours a day, to sit at the table at the same time (and no snacking while running), and also to walk more so that the body does not suffer from lack of oxygen.

The best way to deal with the effects of stress is to prevent it altogether. Of course, if a woman (like most modern city dwellers) continues to work during pregnancy, it is impossible to avoid tense situations at all, but at least sparing herself and not shouldering a dozen cases at the same time is most often possible.

The word treats – the help of a psychologist or auto-training will help the expectant mother to get rid of anxiety or fear, to feel self-confident and to be ready for success. Classes with psychotherapists are held in many centers for expectant mothers – an obstetrician-gynecologist can also play the role of “mental doctor”, because often only one phrase can dispel anxiety: “You and the child are all right.”

Massage is a good way not only to help your spine, but also to relax, to distract from everyday worries. Expectant mothers will benefit from a massage of the neck, neck area and scalp.

He will relax the muscles of the neck, strained in all those who sit at the desk for a long time, increase blood flow to the brain, relieve headaches. But the massage of the entire back entirely to expectant mothers can be done only by doctor’s prescription.

But usually, even if a woman has a backache, massage therapists work only with the upper spine, so as not to increase the flow of blood to the pelvis and uterus.

Pool. Swimming at the same time strengthens the body and relieves tension, relieves the spine, forcing all muscle groups to work.

One rule: before starting any physical activity do not forget to consult with an obstetrician-gynecologist.

Yoga or Pilates for future mothers. Smooth exercises improve muscle tone, increase joint flexibility.

These types of fitness pay attention not only to physical exercises, but also to proper breathing and mental state, they teach you to relax.

Natural sedatives. The number of remedies permitted for future mothers includes motherwort, valerian, Persen (Lek), Novo-Passit (Ivax) preparations.

They can be taken throughout pregnancy, besides, they do not affect performance.
