It does not matter if the baby wears a diaper or not, it should be washed after each “toilet”. Enzymes and lactic acid bacteria are present in the feces, which cause irritation of the delicate skin in the perineum and contribute to the appearance of urinary tract infections.
For the same reason, the diaper must be changed after each act of defecation. In the first month, the chair can be up to 8−10 times a day, so checks should be made often.
It is advisable to wash the baby with running warm water (approximately 37–37.5 ° C), use a special gel for intimate hygiene of babies, rather than ordinary soap. Put the child on the arm (right or left – as you like), back down, head to the elbow. First you need to wash the area of the anus, then wash your hands with soap and proceed to the treatment of the genitals (make movements always and strictly from the genitals to the anus, so that the particles of feces do not fall into secluded places).
If you are not able to carry out a water procedure, you can use wet baby wipes: they contain the minimum amount of chemical additives.
Gentle and thin skin in the crotch area is better to wipe with a soft towel. It is recommended to remove the remnants of moisture with gentle blotting movements.
Before you put a diaper on your baby, arrange an air bath for him and hold him for several minutes naked (during the first half of his life 10 minutes 2 times a day). This measure provides not only a useful tempering effect, but also helps prevent diaper rash.
It is impossible to use for children’s hygiene products for adults (shower gels, liquid or laundry soap, shampoos), because the skin of babies is much thinner and more sensitive than ours.
You should not push the labia for “special treatment”, this can only be done in order to check whether there is any redness. The same can be said about the boys – it is absolutely not necessary to drag off the foreskin without the need. It can be very carefully removed after 6 months in order to properly wash the glans penis.
Usually, active introduction of complementary foods begins during this period, which is why the boys automatically increase the production of smegma (natural lubricant).
If the baby has reddened skin on the ass or pimples have appeared, most likely it is diaper rash. If the irritation is not strong, it is enough to use a cream under the diaper.
Its main feature is the presence in the composition of zinc – a substance necessary for the healing of microcracks and wounds. If, in addition to redness, rashes are noticeable, then to begin with, pimples must be treated with aniline dyes: fukarcina or brilliant green.
Then you can put the cream under the diaper. If the situation does not improve: the redness increases, there are visible cracks in the eye, this indicates that an infection has gotten in the wound and more serious ointments are needed, which only a doctor can prescribe to the child.
If crumbs have dry skin, use baby moisturizers, preferably based on thermal water. If there are no such problems, this measure will be superfluous. Another rule: before applying any cosmetic to the skin, arrange a small sensitivity test: squeeze a small amount of cream on the baby’s wrist and wait 15 minutes.
If no reaction follows, discard all fears.
