We are used to the fact that the main “dose” of stress that we receive is related to work. It turns out that this is not always the case!
The report of American researchers proves the opposite: in his own house his level is much higher. This information is more important for women than for men, because it is they who experience greater tension in their home walls than in the office.
Before coming to this conclusion, experts invited 122 people and assessed the impact of stress on their bodies after the work week and the weekend spent at home. The method consisted in the fact that volunteers 6 times a day, according to a schedule, took a blood test to determine the level of the stress hormone cortisol.
The test results confirmed the assumptions of scientists. “We realized that employees have better physical and mental health,” says Dr. Sarah Damascus. “This is especially true for mothers aged 20 to 40 who worked full time compared to other women of the same age group who worked part time or were housewives.”
An increase in the geometric progression of the number of household duties, the fulfillment of which falls on the shoulders of a woman sitting at home, contributes to an increase in the level of “home” stress. Thus, if half of the men would gladly agree to work or sit at home, then the vast majority of females feel safer in the office.
A permanent job provides: professional success (guarantor of high self-esteem), communication, a clear schedule – all this together helps to reduce chronic stress.
