Ask someone to list the Greek islands. Crete, Kos, Rhodes, Corfu … then there is a pause.
Meanwhile, Greece comprises about 2 thousand islands, which account for almost 20% of the entire country: the smallest of them, Antipaxi, has an area of only 5 km². So for those who like to explore new places, there is exactly where to turn.
But we decided to start so far away. And they went to Evia (or Evia) – the second largest Greek island after Crete.
At first glance at the map, you will not immediately understand that this is an island: a bridge connects it with the mainland in the narrowest part of the Eurypah Strait. Strait, by the way, is one of the main attractions of the island – the course of the strait changes direction every five hours, and the waves freeze as it were. The spectacle is unique, and scientists have not solved the reason for this phenomenon until now.
Yes, and on the island there is some kind of subtle ancient magic – which, however, is not surprising, because according to one of the mythical legends on Mount Dirfis, Zeus and Hera were married. Well, since even the gods have chosen these places for marriage, it is definitely worth taking a closer look at the island more closely.
Especially since the rest on Evbee most varieties. Fans of noisy resort life choose the southern coast.
Chalkida – the capital of the island, there are shops, bars, restaurants, discos for every taste.
You can go down just south of Karystos – the main resort of Evia. It is located at the foot of Mount Okha in the bay. The Venetian fortress Castel Rosso, “House of the Dragon” – religious objects of antiquity, collected without a single bonding material from solid stone slabs, and the Venetian tower of the XIII century Bourdzi – just do not pass by.
The nature around is such that it simply captures the spirit: eucalyptus forests, the piercing beauty of the gorge of Ruklia and Agali and the fossilized forest of Kerasi, which arose during flooding with oceanic lava.
It is worth renting a car – it is very pleasant to travel around the island, secluded bays with picturesque rocks – breakwaters for the waves of the Aegean Sea – and sandy beaches, pine groves, canyons, waterfalls, monasteries and ruins of ancient cities built before our era. Among the olive groves and pine forests there are many cozy villages, each with its own signature dish, so losing weight is not very successful.
You can move on the buses (there are some delays in the schedule, but where are we to hurry, right?).
The island is popular with the Greeks, but they are not going there for sightseeing. They have in favor the northern part, where they go for absolute relaxation. Among the coniferous forests and mountains there are thermal springs, about which Aristotle wrote.
Today there are built spa hotels. In one of them, the luxurious Thermae Silla Spa Welness in Edipsos, you can relax and get healthier at the same time at any time of the year. The uniqueness of the local island climate is that in the winter there is +18 С in the afternoon, and in the summer there is no sweltering heat (in other Greek resorts +26 26С).
At the same time, the sea is unusually warm – the water near the shore is heated by thermal springs. Yes, standing in the sea, you can feel the thermal keys under your feet.
And if you come closer to the rock, then water flowing from the rock from another, also, of course, a thermal spring will fall on your shoulders. The first beneficial feeling arises when you approach the hotel – from the cape, where it is located, a breathtaking view opens.
This is not just a view of the sea – it is a piercing combination of colors, bizarre rock breaks and fantastic shadows from them gliding through the water. All this creates a unique atmosphere, which was once appreciated by Winston Churchill, Greta Garbo, Omar Sharif and Maria Callas.
And this is not a complete list of celebrities who have been there.
The building itself is an architectural monument of the late XIX century. Today, the updated Thermae Silla Spa is among the top ten thermal spas in the world.
The hotel has its own thermal spring: water with a temperature of 75–83 ⁰C rises from a depth of 3000 m. The composition is incredibly rich, therefore suitable for the treatment of various diseases – osteochondrosis (which mother does not have it?), Rheumatic pain, inflammation of tendons, gynecological diseases , chronic (and not only) fatigue, endocrine disorders. Balneotherapy, hydrotherapy, mud therapy, inhalations, massages, aromatherapy, physiotherapy – the program will be for any occasion. Natural ingredients are used as components for the procedures: olives, grapes, eucalyptus leaves.
In addition to hydropathic, the hotel has two swimming pools – indoor, with thermal water, and outdoor, in which thermal water is mixed with sea water. Willfully leave it is incredibly difficult.
Is that a unique bath with alpine herbs or volcanic stones. Specialists will make an anti-aging program (there are about 20) or just a course of procedures for restoring the body.
In the hotel for a comfortable rest everything is thought out. Food in restaurants is prepared from the freshest ingredients, a dietician can create an individual menu – after all, anti-stress, relaxation, rejuvenation and weight loss are impossible without a balanced diet.
The fact that the dishes here are incredibly exquisitely prepared and elegantly served, can not be said. The freshest ecological products are delivered daily directly from the hotel’s farm, fish are brought directly to the boats, and there are no freezers in the kitchen.
The interior is elegantly luxurious, the refined decor is thought out to the smallest detail. The hotel has 108 spacious single, double and triple rooms ranging from 20 to 45 square meters. m standart overlooking the city and category executive overlooking the bay. There are 7 more luxe rooms and a presidential suite.
Rooms are cleaned twice a day.
The hotel provides family accommodation, if desired, two rooms can be combined into one, there is a nanny who will look after children. But since his guests prefer a relaxing holiday, it is better to go there with older children (which, while their modern workload does not hurt, relaxation). Well, of course, any mother can devote unlimited time to herself there (after all, no one has yet canceled rational egoism!)
