Glutamine (aka “glutamine”) is an essential amino acid that naturally protects your gastrointestinal tract from inflammation and restores the intestinal mucosa. Both are necessary conditions for the normalization of digestion.
Glutamine protects the walls of the stomach and small intestine from ulcers caused by bacterial infections, drugs (especially painkillers – non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), and from ulcers caused by stress. Moreover, this amino acid has a stimulating effect on the immune function of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT).
Normally, this amino acid can be synthesized in our body, so for a long time it was considered replaceable. However, recent studies have clearly shown that under any adverse conditions (illness, metabolic disorders, intoxication, etc.), the use of glutamine increases dramatically, and the body begins to experience its deficiency.
It has been scientifically proven that a decrease in the level of glutamine in the gastrointestinal tract leads to the development of an upset stomach, atrophy and ulceration of the mucous membrane. For this reason, foreign nutritionists and gastroenterologists often recommend eating foods that are rich in glutamine, and in acute cases (especially after operations, including those associated with pancreas problems), even taking glutamine preparations.
If your digestion is poor, if your diet is far from healthy, try to include more glutamine-rich foods on your menu. From products of plant origin is: spinach, beets, parsley, cabbage, beans. Of animal products: eggs, chicken, beef, lamb, cod, perch, cottage cheese, milk, cheese.
Note that glutamine rich dairy products of normal fat, and skim in this sense are useless.
Last year, one solid American edition included food products obtained by fermentation in the list, which literally translates as “New super-food that you need to start eating today.” We will congratulate America on a new discovery, but for us similar products are part of our Russian traditions in food, which are more years old than Baptist Russia. What are we talking about?
About products that are obtained by fermentation, or more simply, ripening. Yes, yes, this is the same sauerkraut, pickled cucumbers, pickled (“soaked”) apples, kefir, yogurt and ryazhenka, kvass and a dozen more similar dishes.
This includes products from dairy and kombucha, which at one time our mothers and grandmothers were growing without exception. And no yoghurts “enriched” with bacteria will replace the products obtained in the process of natural fermentation. So, if you are not indifferent to how your digestion works, think about these useful Russian traditional products.
By the way, such dairy products as ryazhenka and drinking yoghurt (not to be confused with sweet dessert) contain thermophilic streptococcus – a bacterium that is not afraid of high temperatures, is not destroyed in the gastrointestinal tract, and feeds on it with toxic protein breakdown products – nitrogenous compounds, not letting them destroy the lining of the stomach and enter the blood. Especially these products are useful for people with renal problems (and not only for people, but also for our smaller brothers).
We are too busy to be distracted by full meals. What is cunning, we have no time for cooking.
As a result, the so-called fast food and food from the cooking departments have firmly entered our life as a kind of magic wand. We eat hamburgers, pies, puffs, pizza, buy salads in plastic containers, boil noodles and instant mashed potatoes with boiling water.
And gradually we kill not only our digestion, but also our health in general.
Nevertheless, a busy work schedule is only a convenient excuse for our carelessness in relation to our own health. Do not leave home without breakfast – otherwise you are guaranteed to want to put some pie or puff in your mouth upon arrival. Get yourself a set of lunchboxes in a convenient case and develop the habit of taking homemade food with you to work.
If corporate rules do not allow you to eat at work (you don’t have a kitchen in the office where you could do it), find a trustworthy cafe that has simple dishes that you can be sure of in recipes that are steamed or boiled. , that is, guaranteed to not be fried on the same oil for several servings in a row, and will not contain saturated fat. At worst, bring fruit and sandwiches with boiled meat, vegetables and whole grain bread.
Remember that if you wish, you can always find a way out.
Chronic dehydration, which for many of us is the norm, often causes digestive problems. If you want to adjust the work of your gastrointestinal tract, you will have to remember once again that an adult should drink at least 8 glasses of pure water per day (1 cup = 200 ml).
People who consume less of this norm often suffer from stomach discomfort after eating, which signals a problem digestion.
If you do not like plain water, add a little lemon with mint, lime or berries. Normalization of water balance not only improves the work of the digestive tract, but also improves overall well-being.
This is hard to believe, but a person who drinks enough water feels more energetic and efficient than one who drinks less than the daily norm. The secret, in particular, lies in the fact that, by improving the digestion, we improve the metabolism and get more nutrients and energy from each meal than those who chronically “undercook”.
Most fashionable diets have nothing to do with healthy eating. All that they lead to is a metabolic disorder, disruption of the digestive tract and more serious problems in a delayed run.
What these diets do not give is the desired weight loss stable and for a long time. Especially harmful are diets that disturb the body’s balance of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, diets that alternate periods of consumption of certain types of foods, as well as diets that practice periods of hunger.
In most cases, during these fashionable diets, you lose water and muscle tissue, and the fat remains with you. And, of course, similar experiments with food primarily affect your stomach in the form of gastritis, colitis and ulcers.
No matter how much we want to lose weight quickly, the only working “diet” for this is counting calories with a balanced intake of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Plus an active lifestyle.
Before you begin to eat – realize whether you are really hungry, or thirsty. The signals of both are so similar that, in order to understand the difference, you need … to drink a glass of plain water.
If you still want to eat a few minutes after this, it means that it’s really hunger.
Starting the meal, remember the main rules of behavior at the table: eat slowly, even if you are in a hurry; chew well, even if it seems to you that there is nothing to chew; think about what you eat, do not get distracted by the tablet, book or TV show, do not chat on the phone. In short, when you eat – you must fully surrender to this process.
Only in this case, you learn to hear your body and give him just as much food as he needs for life. Overeating, which cause a number of problems, starting from being overweight and ending with metabolic disorders and digestive disorders, comes from what we eat, not thinking about the process, not paying attention to serving in a plate, and having a snack and completely mechanically.
The habit of “sticking” stress can greatly harm your digestion. Firstly, because, as a rule, in stress you cease to control yourself, and there can be no talk of any “conscious” eating of food.
Secondly, in stress, you start eating foods with a high glycemic index, that is, one that quickly but briefly increases the level of sugar in the blood. This is a direct path to metabolic disorders and digestive problems.
In addition, during stress, a number of hormones are released into the body, which also impede the digestion process. So, even in such a period, you should remember about the board of nutritionists and eat consciously.
Healthy digestion is impossible without the normal functioning of this organ. As you know, the liver produces the most important digestive juice – bile.
In the liver, toxic products that are formed in the large intestine as a result of bacterial decay of proteins that get there with food are neutralized. Enumerate important for the digestive function of the liver can be long.
And it is hardly necessary to convince someone that the liver should be kept in good health. And for this you need to know which foods contribute to the improvement of its functions.
For example, these include walnuts, turmeric, avocado, grapefruit.
