The quality of makeup depends not only on your abilities makeup artist and properties of cosmetics, but also on the tools – brushes, which is applied makeup. Buying these accessories is not an easy thing. You need to know what brushes are needed for and from what material.
First, we need to understand that brushes for professionals are quite expensive, and secondly, we simply don’t need many of them.
Properly selected brushes will help not only make makeup more clearly and competently, but also more economical use of cosmetics.
What makeup brushes do you need?
There are seven main makeup brushes. If you are not working as a professional makeup artist, then this is enough for you. As for me, I use only five of the seven brushes.
The main task of this brush is to ideally apply the base on the skin so that the tone is perfectly even.
The brush should be lowered into the base and applied, starting from the cheeks, gradually shading in circular motions to the hairline.
I don’t have such a brush because I don’t use makeup base. The skin is young and very sensitive. Therefore, as for the face, I prefer to use only the most necessary, to which the basis in my case I do not attribute.
However, I am sure that such a brush is very convenient and not even replaceable for those who regularly apply foundation for makeup.
I always, after lowering the brush in the powder, a little shake it off. It is better to do this procedure several times, but the powder will be distributed evenly. I apply powder with light circular motions.
Actually, I’m not a fan of powder. I use camouflage pencil more often. But there are cases when powder is more appropriate, and then this brush becomes an indispensable helper.
A brush for blush is similar to a powder brush, but, as a rule, it is smaller in size – medium. It is soft, made of natural hair, and the shape is either domed or with a cut corner.
Which option is more convenient – I find it difficult to say, since I do not use blush. But I had a brush in the kit when buying and I am delighted with it. Very soft and pleasant. Sometimes I use it to apply powder, as it is a pity that it lies in inaction =)
With this brush, you can give a natural blush to the cheeks, and the main advantage is that the brush allows you to apply blush without smearing the base and without causing irritation of the skin of the cheeks.
Blush with this brush should be applied to the cheekbones, moving light movements in the direction of the ears.
Lip brushes small, with a rounded tip, flat. The purpose of this brush – it is easy, and most importantly – to clearly apply lipstick, emphasizing the shape of the lips.
I have the following algorithm for using this brush. First, I outline the contour of the lips with eyeliner or lipstick-pencil. Then I take a brush and start applying lipstick from the center to the edges. And then, using the tip of the brush, I mix the lipstick with a pencil with short strokes.
Next – three of my most favorite and frequently used brushes.
Shadow brushes are small, flat. They have a hard bristle made from natural materials. Due to the fact that the brush is not fluffy, with its use you can get a more intense and uniform color of the shadows.
The main task of this brush – evenly apply shadows on the eyelids. I use this brush to apply one tone of shadows with light movements from the inner corner of the eye to the outer.
Brushes for shading shadows are made from natural soft hair. The shape resembles a flower bud.
This brush is used after the main, at the final stage – for uniform shadowing of shadows.
In my opinion, the role of this brush in makeup is priceless. With its help you can more clearly mark the contour of the eyes and create my favorite smoky effect.
In a circular motion, I pick up the shadows from the palette on the brush, brush off the excess. And with the brush tip I begin to shade the shadows, moving from the outer (!) Corner to the inner one, and then in the opposite direction, increasing the pressure on the brush.
Eye and eyebrow brush
Eye and eyebrow brushes – small size, with beveled edge, they are made of both artificial and natural materials.
This brush is convenient to apply eyeliner or give expressive eyebrows.
To apply eyeliner with a smooth beautiful line, I draw this brush along the line of eyelash growth from the inside to the outside corner. And to create arrows you just need to stretch the line a little further, beyond the edge of the eye. But I’m not a fan of the shooter.
And for the expressiveness of the eyebrows, you can apply eyebrow powder using this brush with short movements.
Makeup Brush Material
Makeup brushes are made from both natural and artificial materials. Natural – this is most often a pony, sable, artificial – plastic fibers or acrylic.
As I heard, when choosing a brush, many cosmetologists advise to focus on the makeup for which you choose brushes.
For example, for a make-up base, foundation or other liquid products, it is better to use brushes made of artificial material. But for shadows, powder, blush – from natural.
From my own experience I will add that it is worth paying attention to the stiffness of the bristles, it should not be too coarse, this is especially true for eye shadow brushes, eyeliners. But at the same time, the bristles must be flexible so that there is a possibility of contouring.
It is better to initially test the brush on your hand. In addition to the stiffness of the bristles during this mini-dough, you can understand whether it is convenient to use this form of the brush and pen itself.
Makeup Brushes Care
The condition of the brushes constantly need to be monitored. I do this with the help of baby shampoo. Just spread a small amount of shampoo in the water and leave the brush for a while.
Then thoroughly rinse them with shampoo. Dry or on a towel, or securing them over the bath, but always the brushes themselves down.
