Phyto-filter for aquarium DIY drawings

maintenance, care, compatibility

Phyto-filter appeared relatively recently, but has already managed to win the attention of many beauty lovers.

We use a fit filter in an aquarium

Today it is used to purify water in an aquarium. It can be attributed to both hydroponic products and filters. They are a separate construction.

This is nanotechnology.

How does a phytofilter work for an aquarium?

A simple experiment with a plant shows how it feeds, without having the soil to produce nutrients. The roots were washed from the presence of soil and placed in clean water. After a certain period, they were covered with a peculiar touch.

This is activated sludge, which was formed as a result of accumulation of microorganisms. This process is clearly visible in the photo. The entire surface of the roots of the plant is covered with such a specific substance.

Its accumulation significantly exceeds the concentration that is in the water. Thus, the roots of the plant simply suck the harmful substances out of the water, thereby cleansing it.
But it’s worth noting that such a process can have a detrimental effect on the condition of the plants. They will lack specific mucus for nutrition. That is why the phytofilter for an aquarium is used with care in herbalists, where it may not be beneficial, but harm.

The whole process of the nano-cleaner is presented in the video.

After seeing how the trial version works, you can start making your masterpiece. For such purposes, any material capable of holding water will fit.

And here the fantasy plays a big role, because the phytofilter for an aquarium can not only perfectly purify water, but also be a real decoration of the room. Luxurious live plants will please the eye.
Approaching the manufacture of a glass device from the creative side, you can create a harmonious composition: small fish frolic from below, and greens run wild on top. You can also use one plant to create it, for example, spathiphyllum.

And you can create a real flower bed, connecting several plants that have the same conditions.
Plants for phytofilter can be: fittonia, creeping ficus, chlorophytum crested. Video and photo placement of plants provided for viewing on the site.

The main thing, before you begin to implement their plans, think through everything and imagine what the aquarium will look like. Photos of possible compositions can be viewed on the Internet or independently come up with your own version. And here it is up to you to decide which flowers to choose for a modern and functional purifier of the water resource in the aquarium.

Individuality and peculiarity will embody the created masterpiece. A phyto-filter in an aquarium is an exquisite and beautiful thing.

This is a functional decoration of the entire room, as seen in the video and photos.

A phyto-filter made of glass, made by hand, is a functional device that will work flawlessly for a long period, and the grown plants can always be replaced with new ones, creating a completely different composition. High aesthetic indicators make it possible to use a unique device for cleaning and decorating the aquarium both at home and in the office.

With the right approach, it will have a sophisticated look and will perfectly fit into the strict interior of any office. This is the best way to bring the highlight into the room and at the same time carefully treat the inhabitants of the aquarium.

What kind of filters aquarists do not equip their home waters! Here and the usual glasses with a sponge, and soothingly murmuring filters, waterfalls, and powerful canister, and the mass of self-made – airlift, Hamburg and so on. And now also fito-filter.

What is it, what is it for, in what aquariums does it make sense to install it? Now we will sort everything out in order.

It can be said that the phytofilter has only one drawback – you cannot buy it in the store, you have to do it yourself. However, it is not difficult to make an economy option: it’s enough to take half of a cut plastic bottle along a long tray made of light plastic, cut several holes in the bottom, and drill larger holes in the bottom for entering and draining water.

Next, the tank is filled with a substrate at a height of 5-8 cm, plants are placed there, a hose or flute from a filter or compressor is inserted into the water inlet, and the whole structure is fixed on the back wall of the aquarium on suckers or clamps so that its lower part is in water .

Water from the filter under pressure passes through the substrate with the roots and is poured out of the holes back into the aquarium. This design is suitable for an open aquarium, or in the case when it can be cut off part of the cover.

If you want something more beautiful and your hands are in place, there is no limit to perfection: phytofilters are made of plastic, plexiglass or aquarium glass and decorated with special panels, put them on a shelf above a closed aquarium, and they are supplied with sealed hoses. It is only necessary to follow the general rules:

  • Phyto filter should not be located below the level of the aquarium;
  • tray depth should not be more than twice the width;
  • the length of the tray should not be greater than the length of the rear wall of the aquarium;
  • it is better to use gravel of a fraction of 3-8 mm as a soil; you can mix it with expanded clay, a layer of substrate 5-12 cm;
  • if the phyto-filter is removed from the aquarium, the water inlet opening should be located at a height of 2-3 cm from the bottom so that it does not dry out if the pump is turned off;
  • the amount of water passing through the phyto-filter should be from 3-4 volumes of the aquarium per day to 1-1.5 volumes per hour, if the pump connected to it is more powerful, then a splitter should be placed on it so that some of the water goes to the aquarium bypassing the plant tray;
  • It is recommended that a sponge be placed behind the water inlet, which will carry out coarse mechanical filtration, which will allow less frequent cleaning of the filter.

Care phytofilter is not difficult and usually consists in washing the sponge as it is contaminated, sifonka soil every few months and, if necessary, pruning and the formation of plants.

By the way, such a filter can be organized even in a small shrimp or nano aquarium, using the usual mounted waterfall as a tray. It will be nice and effective.

Thus, the phytofilter is a very useful and sometimes almost indispensable thing for an aquarium, while it is inexpensive and not too complicated to manufacture. Try it and you will be pleasantly surprised.

We make an example of making the simplest fitophilus with our own hands on the video:
