How to run a nano-aquarium?

Nano aquarium – This is the newest direction of aquarism, rapidly gaining momentum. Nano-aquariums combine all the possibilities of ordinary large-sized aquariums and at the same time are very tiny, which makes them much more accessible for installation in confined spaces.

The style of this innovative aquarium is minimalism, which refers both to its volume and to the size of its inhabitants.

Starting a nano-aquarium is simple, but has a number of features compared to conventional aquariums.

one. The choice of location. Nano-aquarium should not be located close to direct sunlight.

Due to the very small size of such an aquarium, too bright lighting disturbs the eco-balance in it.

2 Form and material. The choice of form is of course up to you, but do not forget that in round aquariums it is almost impossible to maintain the necessary natural balance: the water becomes dirty more quickly and the effect of the lens negatively affects the fish. Nano-aquarium in the form of a cube is the most optimal option for creating a favorable eco-system.

In addition, this form allows the use of various decorative films for the rear window. With their help, you can periodically change the view of the landscape of your nano-pond.

Nano-aquariums are made from acrylic or glass. In acrylic models a wider choice of forms, and the material itself is more durable than glass.

Acrylic aquariums better maintain the temperature of the water and their walls are less overgrown with algae.

3 Cleaning the aquarium. No matter how clean the newly acquired nano-aquarium may seem, it must be cleaned without fail.

When washing, you can use only brushes, sponges and water. Dishwashing detergent or other cleaning products should not be used. Particularly carefully you need to wash the joints of the aquarium, they can accumulate imperceptible to the eye particles of dirt.

For joints, it is convenient to use a toothbrush that has become unusable. To make the aquarium dry faster, turn it upside down.

There should be no suspicious odors in a clean aquarium.

four. Decorating a nano-aquarium. In preparation for the launch of a miniature aquarium has its own subtleties.

First, it is a primer, which should consist of 2 layers. The first layer, laid down on the bottom – soil for plant nutrition. The second layer is gravel for a nano-aquarium.

Specially designed gravel for nano-aquariums differs from the usual one in that it prevents the decomposition and rotting of organic wastes, which are formed from uneaten feed and fish excrements. The presence of such a soil allows longer to keep the nano-aquarium clean.

Gravel must first hold in boiling water for about five minutes.

On the back wall of the aquarium, you can attach a decorative film with any landscape you like.

five. The landscape of the nano-aquarium. The tiny size of the nano-aquarium and cause the small size of the decorative elements. Stones, shells or even snags should be miniature and graceful.

Improvise, but remember the balance and harmony in decorating a nano-pond.

6 Filling with water. Initially, the aquarium is filled with water at 2/3. Pour water to be careful not to move the soil and avoid water turbidity.

You can use a saucer or thin hose for this.

7 Planting plants. For nano-aquarium suitable slow-growing small plants.

Before planting, they must be disinfected by holding for a few minutes in a weak solution of manganese.

eight. Equipment. For a nano-aquarium, as well as for the ordinary, a filter and compressor are necessary.

But the one and the other should be miniature, so as not to clutter up the aquarium and not spoil the view. In pet stores you can find equipment specifically designed for tiny nano-aquariums. After installing the instruments, it is necessary to add water, leaving 5-6 centimeters between its surface and the lid.

Now the aquarium should stand for 3 days, and on the 4th day replace the third part of the water. The clouding of the aquarium at this stage is a normal process, indicating the creation of its own microclimate in it.

9. Running fish. Before you release the new inhabitants in the aquarium, make sure that there is no raid on the plants. It is also necessary to turn on the lighting in a few hours.

Now you can run the fish, not forgetting the first time to monitor their behavior. There is no need to feed right away, let the fish first settle in a new place.

If over the next few days the water in the aquarium has not become cloudy, and the fish behave actively and naturally, you can congratulate yourself – you have coped with the launch of the nano-aquarium – the underwater world in miniature!
