Features of breeding manure worms and the use of a worm

The dung worm has always been considered an excellent bait for fishing peaceful fish. A few decades ago, it could easily be found in dung heaps from a private home in which they raised cattle. Now fishermen have to spend a lot of time searching for bait.

That is why some of them are engaged in the breeding of dung worms. Fishermen not only provide themselves with bait, but also sell surplus to other lovers.

Every year there are more and more difficulties with the search for dung. This is not happy anglers who know about the benefits of this bait.

Earthworms are fairly easy to find, but they are not as attractive to fish. This is due to certain features of the inhabitants of dung heaps:

  • Stoppers are able to tolerate hot weather. They do not die even when the temperature rises above 30 degrees. This feature is very pleased with fans of summer fishing.
  • Earthworms die within an hour after hooking, respectively, their attractiveness for fish falls. Swallows also attract a lot of fish.
  • Inhabitants of dung heaps emit a pungent odor that appeals to different types of fish. Individuals are able to find bait even in the dark or in a layer of silt.

Some anglers think that the cultivation of worms is a very simple matter, which does not require financial and time costs, but this is absolutely not the case. First of all, you need to find a suitable container.

Experts advise against using metal crates.. It is better to make a container of wood or plastic.

In the bottom of the box, you need to drill a few small holes that are needed to drain off excess moisture and air circulation. Their diameter should not exceed a few millimeters.

It is worth remembering that dunglings love a moist habitat, but do not tolerate accumulations of fluid, so it should flow freely from the box. It is advisable to close the holes with high-quality gauze or mesh so that the worms cannot crawl away.

It is worth remembering that dung beetles love warmly. Even in winter, in a heap of manure, the temperature does not fall below 10-15 degrees due to the ongoing process of decay.

Therefore, a room is suitable for breeding, the temperature in which ranges from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. It should be constantly illuminated with a weak lamp. This is necessary so that individuals do not leave the box.

They are afraid of the light and will not try to crawl away if the conditions of detention change suddenly.

The box must be installed on a flat horizontal surface and covered with sand, a layer from 2 to 3 centimeters. After that, you need to lay out fresh hay, a layer of 4-5 centimeters.

Spread biohumus on it. It can be purchased at many retail outlets.

Owners of suburban areas can use ordinary humus.

Some fishermen do not know where to get worms that can produce offspring. They can be purchased in almost all shops for lovers of fishing.

Before buying you need to make sure that dung beetles live.

There is another way to get individuals for breeding. Fishermen who live near farms or villages can personally collect worms.

It is enough to come to the countryside and find a pile of manure or humus. It is best to transport dung in a wooden box filled with humus.

Before settling dung in the box must be well moisten the soil. Warm water should be used, with a temperature of 25 to 30 degrees. After placing the worms in the ground, you need to watch how they will hide in it.

After the last specimen is hidden from view, they feed a layer of food, 3 centimeters thick. After that, the box is closed with a layer of cardboard.

Under natural conditions, worms feed on rotting plants. At home most often use food waste, for example:

  • peel from vegetables and fruits;
  • the remains of dairy-free cereals;
  • spoiled fruits and vegetables.

It is worth remembering that worms can absorb only chopped food. Accordingly, all residues must be crushed with the help of available tools.

You can use graters, shredders, blenders or knives.

It is worth remembering that long absences are unacceptable during breeding. Dung worm has a good appetite, so you need to regularly add food in the box. To understand that dung beetles have eaten all the food is quite simple.

If there are holes in the cardboard, it means you need to remove it and put a layer of feed. Then add some water to the box.

In 2-3 months the number of worms will increase significantly.

After two months, the number of worms may increase by more than 3 times. Accordingly, they will have to settle in different boxes.

Before that, you need to stop feeding to lure the worms to the surface. Then the worms are divided into 3-4 parts and settled in boxes with fresh humus and feed.

The breeding process can last forever if sales opportunities are adjusted..

An ordinary amateur angler does not need thousands of worms, so many of them sell surplus.

It is worth remembering that dung beetles can die if they are not properly stored. It is necessary to agree in advance on the sale of worms with other anglers or representatives of retail outlets.

Some anglers have a good breeding income.
