Cryptocoryne maintenance and care in the aquarium, species, breeding, photo-video review

Cryptocoryne includes many species known in the aquarium world. Some fans of the Cryptocorin plant collect many species of this genus.

Family: Aroid

Growing area: tropical areas of Asia. The plant is found in flowing waters (with slow and fast current), and in stagnant water.

Appearance: a small bush of 5-15 leaves. The leaves are on the petioles, can be lanceolate, as well as various variants of ovoid shape.

Plants immersed in streams, as a rule, have long, elongated leaves with a bumpy surface. The leaf plate is green, olive, brown, and in low light it is saturated red.

Inflorescences of a small form, very interesting and unusual structure. Spatula inflorescence peculiar color and shape. It is a long narrowed tube slightly extended at the bottom.

In the middle of the tube is an ear up to 3 cm long. The tube itself does not let water through.

The part of the tube where the ear is located is separated by a valve.

Root system: horizontal rhizome.

Priming: nutrient, its thickness – 5 cm. The temperature of the soil must be the same as the temperature of the water so that plant growth will not slow down.

Cryptocorins need a lot of time to master a new environment, so frequent transplants are not desirable, the best option is once a year.

Lighting: 0.4-0.5 W / l.
Water parameters:
Comfortable temperature: 24-28 ° C.
“Acidity” Ph: 6.5-7.4.
Stiffness dH: medium.

Weekly, the fifth or fourth part of the volume of water must be changed to fresh.

Diseases: sometimes cryptoraine has cryptocorynous disease (usually in winter), which is accompanied by a deterioration of the state of the leaf plates. The leaves become soft, like glass and begin to decompose.

Such a disease arises in connection with changes in the conditions of detention: the change of water, the nature of the light, the filter material, the appearance of chemicals in the water. Sometimes this disease enters the aquarium with new diseased plants. In the case of rotting and decomposition of the leaves, you can still save the rhizome of the plant by changing the water and cleansing the soil.

As a rule, the cryptocoryne recovers. Wendt, Beckett and related are most susceptible to the disease.

Placement and landing of cryptocorynes in the aquarium: foreground and midfield depending on the type of cryptocoryne.

Bloom: Some representatives of cryptocoren are almost all the time in the swamp and for a very short time completely submerged. In general, these plants bloom like ordinary land.

Other predominantly aquatic species, although they themselves are under water, but their flowers are spread on its surface.

To obtain the flowering of cryptocorynes in aquarium conditions, the following should be done. Prepare a flower pot with a diameter of 7 cm. Pour the bottom

option 1: a layer of weathered granite with quartz sand, adding fertilizer;

option 2: garden soil, but without humus and lime;

and lay a layer of pure gravel on top with a small amount of peat. Plant a plant.

Fill the soil of the aquarium with water to a height of 4 cm and place a pot of cryptocoryas on it, heat the soil with a bottom heater. Provide bright lighting up to 12 hours a day.

After 6-12 months, the plant will delight its flowering.

Cryptocoryne pontelerifoliferous or cryptocoryne ponteleriflora

Beautiful ornamental plant in addition with relatively uncomplicated conditions. Its leaves are compactly assembled with a rosette; they have different colors on both sides. Cryptocoryne Beckett is a small plant (up to 12 cm), therefore it is perfectly suitable as a decor for the front and middle plan of the aquarium, forming small thickets.

The plant is well combined with any aquarium plants.

Growth area: swampy waters of the island of Sri Lanka.

Appearance: grassy bush, stem is not pronounced. Leaves in the form of a rosette, on low petioles, which grow immediately from the root.

The shape of the leaves is heart-shaped. The outer side of the leaf plate is gently olive-colored, the inner side is red-brown color. In an aquarium, the plant grows no more than 12 cm.

The flowers are pale yellow.

Soil: nutritious. Substrate – large river sand and / or small pebbles.

Before planting, a mixture of boiled peat, clay and charcoal must be introduced to the bottom of the planting cavity. An alternative could be garden land.

Soil should be laid with a thickness of 5-8 cm. The plant can be planted in a clay pot, and then placed at the bottom of the aquarium, disguised in a suitable place.

Cryptocoryne does not need regular fertilization.

Lighting: average, direct sunlight is not allowed. If the aquarium’s lighting is bright, Beckett’s cryptocoryn should be hidden in the shade of higher plants. Fluorescent lamps are preferred.

The duration of daylight hours is at least 12 hours.

Water parameters:

Comfortable temperature: 24-28 ° C. The plant will be able to withstand a decrease in temperature to 20-22 ° C, but its growth will slow down significantly.

Ph acidity: neutral or slightly alkaline Ph 7.0-7.5.

Stiffness dH: average 8-16 dH.

With a decrease in hardness and acidity of water, cryptocorynous disease can develop. ” The difference of these parameters may occur as a result of a change or topping up of water, therefore, they must be corrected in advance.

Accommodation in the aquarium: suitable aquarium of a tropical type, with a volume of over 40 liters. Becket’s cryptocoryne looks good in the front or in the center of the aquarium, next to various snags and decorative roots.

Reproduction: vegetative, root layers.

Other names: C. Griffith plant, heart-shaped cryptocoryne. Depending on the conditions of keeping the plant is very different in appearance, therefore, there is often confusion in the definition of the species.

Growing area: Malaysia.

Appearance: herbaceous bush about 40 cm high. The plant has long oval leaves, collected in the outlet.

The sheet plate is on the front side in various shades of green, and on the inside – many variants of red.

Root system: well developed.

Soil: nutritious, heavily silted, not less than 7 cm thick. The composition of the substrate does not matter, as the plant has a strong root system. At the bottom of the hole when planting cryptocorynes, clay should be added by adding peat or sludge from another aquarium.

Periodically, the plant should be fed with mineral fertilizers.

Lighting: the heart-shaped cryptocoryne is not demanding for lighting, it has enough natural light, and even in the shade it can feel completely comfortable. But this does not mean that the plant will delight you with its excellent appearance, it will become pale and elongated.

It will be much better if the cryptocoryne is provided with good artificial lighting. To do this, you need fluorescent lamps such as LD and LB with a power of 0.3-0.4 W / 1 l or incandescent lamps – approximately 1 W / 1 l.

Water parameters:

Comfortable temperature: 24-26 ° C, although it is permissible 20-28 ° C. When the temperature drops, the plant slows down in growth.

“Acidity” Ph: weakly acid or neutral.

Stiffness dH: low, 2-10 °. With increasing rigidity, the plant becomes shallow.

Cryptocoryne purpurea is almost not afraid of changing water, only in very bad conditions it drops leaves. Cryptocorynous disease ”rarely gets sick.

The plant feels good in old water, after its replacement it does not grow for some time.

Placement in an aquarium: in the center of the aquarium or in the background near the side walls.

Reproduction: vegetative, root layers.

In a wet greenhouse, cryptocoryne heart-shaped develops more actively. In a less humid environment, the plant is transferred gradually, evenly with the appearance of young leaves, the water level decreases.

When it suits everything to cryptocoryne, it quickly grows and blooms.

If you take a plant from the paludarium, then it can be placed in an aquarium without adaptation.

Cryptocoryne Wendt – a beautiful ornamental plant, also easy to maintain. She is often preferred by both professional aquarists and beginners.

Growth area: rapid rivers of Sri Lanka, is found on the marshland. It grows well both on land and under water.

Subspecies and appearance: there are 4 subspecies, the most common are Cryptocoryne Wendt Wendt and Cryptocoryne Wendt brown. The first has the appearance of a grassy bush with long leaves in the form of a rosette of olive or dark green color, without a stem.

The second is brown with longer leaves. The height of the bush is 25-30 cm.

Root system: creeping, long rhizome.

Soil: loose, nutritious, grains of soil from 2 to 4 mm in size. Due to the well-developed plant root system, the soil thickness should be about 5-7 cm.

If the aquarium is sufficiently silted soil with organic residues, then additional feeding is not needed.

Lighting: diffused, partial shade. Wendt’s cryptocoryn does not like bright, abundant light, feels comfortable in the shade of other aquarium plants, and this does not affect the color of the leaves.

Day length – 12 hours.

Water parameters:

Comfortable temperature: 24-28 ° C.

“Acidity” Ph: 6.5-7.4.

Stiffness dH: medium, 4-10 °.

Cryptocoryne Wendt feels good and in the old, and only poured water.

Placement in an aquarium: the plant can be grown in aquariums of any size. Just remember that in a small pond it does not grow to such size as in a natural habitat or a large aquarium.

Cryptocoryne Wendt forms dense thickets, so it will look good in the middle of a large aquarium.

Reproduction: vegetative, root layers.

Cryptocoryne Balance – a capricious plant that needs constant attention and care. But if you know the features of its development, the time to care for it can be minimized.

In gratitude for your care, the cryptocoryne Balance will delight you with lush emerald foliage and turn your home pond into a real tropical garden.

Growing area: along the banks of flowing waters of Southeast Asia.

Appearance: grassy bush with long narrow leaves on short petioles. The width of the bush from 15 to 20 cm, height – about 60 cm.

The leaves are transversely striated, corrugated. Sheet plate can be a variety of colors.

Soil: nutritious. The soil may consist of a mixture of sand and small pebbles, as well as with a small amount of clay, charcoal, dried peat (you need to remember that it can increase acidity). Soil thickness – 5 cm.

Cryptocoryne Balance grows well in warm ground, so it is important to provide a bottom heater or filter that pulls water through the ground. You should also remember that the plant does not like transplants, you must immediately determine the most appropriate and permanent place for it.

Lighting: good, diffused. The total power of fluorescent lamps should be 0.5 W per 1 liter of water.

Comfortable temperature: 22-28 ° C.

“Acidity” Ph: neutral, 7.

Stiffness dH: soft or medium, optimally 7 – 15 °.

It is very important to monitor the acidity of water. Its decline threatens with the emergence of a “crptocorynous disease”.

Once a week should be added to the aquarium defended water, but the same temperature, hardness and acidity, as in the aquarium.

Placement in an aquarium: for a cryptocoryne Balance it is best to provide a high spacious aquarium, because with proper care it reaches 60 cm in height.

Reproduction: vegetative, root layers.

Cryptocoryne yellow – unpretentious, resistant to changes in the external environment of the plant, but it has a beautiful appearance. Therefore, deservedly gained popularity among many aquarists.

Growth area: the island of Sri Lanka.

Appearance: grassy bush, leaves collected in the outlet, the stem is absent. The height of the cryptocoryne yellow grows around 20 cm.

The color of the leaves may vary depending on the lighting: from green with a longitudinal red streak to cherry.

Soil: old, heavily silted. If the soil is new, then when planting a small amount of clay should be put on the bottom of the hole. Substrate – small pebbles or coarse sand.

Soil thickness – 5 cm.

Lighting: the plant feels good both with long stay in the shade and with bright light. For artificial illumination of yellow cryptocorynes, you can use fluorescent lamps of the type LB with the calculation of 0.5 W / l or incandescent lamps – 1.5 / l.

Ideal – the combination of these lights. The better the lighting, the brighter and more beautiful the color of the cryptocorynes.

Light day – from 8 to 16 hours.

Comfortable temperature: 24-28 ° C.

Acidity Ph: 6.8-7.5.

Stiffness dH: 4-16 °.

The plant does not need regular water changes. Resistant to cryptocorynous disease. ”

Placement in the aquarium: due to the small size of the cryptocoryne, yellow is perfect for decorating the front and middle plan of the aquarium.

Reproduction: vegetative, root layers. Affiliated plants are strong and growing rapidly.

Grown yellow cryptocoryne and in the greenhouse. At the desired temperature and good lighting, the plant can please with its flowering.

The ground form of cryptocoryne yellow is less decorative water.

Cryptocoryne inverse-spiral – a very common, relatively unpretentious, beautiful aquarium plant.

Growing area: the Indian subcontinent and the southeast of Indochina.

Appearance: grassy bush about 50 cm high, devoid of stem. The leaves are narrow and long, wavy, depending on the conditions have a different color – from dark green to olive.

Under favorable conditions, the plant forms bright dense thickets.

Root system: horizontal rhizome.

Soil: rich in organics and minerals. Soil thickness – 5 cm.

Lighting: bright. Moderate illumination is allowed, but the plant will lose its decorative effect, the leaves will be pale and even, without waves. The best version of the illuminators: a fluorescent lamp LB in combination with an incandescent lamp, the total power of which should be 1.0-1.2 W per 1 liter of water.

The duration of daylight hours is at least 12 hours.

Comfortable temperature: 24-28 ° C.

“Acidity” Ph: 7.0-8.2.

Stiffness: dGH 12-16 ° (dKH 6-8 °).

With a decrease in stiffness, it is difficult to provide normal conditions for plant growth and development, there is a danger of a cryptocorynous disease. ”

Placement in an aquarium: a reverse spiral cryptocoryne should be provided with a large aquarium with a tropical climate and placed at the back wall.

Reproduction: vegetative, root layers.

Inverse helical cryptocoryne can also be successfully cultivated in a paludarium or greenhouse at a temperature of 26–28 ° C and bright light. At the same time it will grow even faster and bloom, but its leaves will become shorter.

There are many plants that have become widespread in decorative aquariums. One of these plants is a cryptocoryne – a grassy amphibious plant of the Aroid family, the content of which is easy even for beginners.

Suitable for growing in spacious and high aquariums because of the height of 50 cm or more. Usually the plant is planted in a free corner, closer to the glass wall of the tank, which receives a large amount of light.

Cryptocorin is undemanding in care, it is well adapted to the new water, due to which it has earned popularity among breeders. All types of plants like warm water, in cold water (below 20-22 degrees Celsius) can die.

All varieties of cryptocorynes prefer soft water. Also, they do not tolerate contact with the leaves of direct sunlight, they are planted in places with diffused illumination, which saturates the plants with a green tint.

Therefore, it is important for an aquarium to install artificial light correctly. All species require both constant water parameters and the amount of light.

Growth and reproduction of cryptocorynes is possible in silt or old soil taken from the previous reservoir. Under the young roots put clay balls, charcoal or peat. Sand with fine pebbles is suitable as a soil.

The allowable thickness of the soil ball is 5 cm. During growth, the young plant should be fed with fertilizers containing peat and clay.

Favorable conditions will give rapid growth of cryptocorynes. Reproduction is possible only vegetative – all species form processes.

Admire the cryptocory aquarium.

The genus Kryptokorina was described by the Swiss botanist Heinrich Widler in 1830. In England, all species of the plant of the genus are called “water flutes” because of the visual similarity with musical wind instruments. These amphibious plants are common in the tropics of Southeast Asia, like warm water.

Sometimes found in land, semi-submerged or floating form. The most common types of cryptocoryne in home aquariums are: Wendt cryptocoryne, Cryptocoryne pontelliocepholonus and apiphenogenolist (giant).

Wendt’s cryptocoryne, a popular type of cryptocoryne in aquariums, has earned fame for its unusual appearance and relative simplicity. She has beautiful leaves with a length of 15 cm, green with a brown tint and red trim. For this she received another name “bloody Vendt”.

The natural distribution area – the island of Sri Lanka, but in the home aquarium its content is not difficult, despite the difference in climate. It is important to maintain a constant temperature of the water in the tank, to establish good lighting, to monitor the quality of the soil. Prefers soft water, not cold.

When the water temperature below 18-20 degrees begins to rot. Planted better in silty soil in a corner with ambient lighting.

Reproduction occurs the formation of leaf buds.

See how to plant a Wendt cryptocore.

A cryptocoryne pond deer is a beautiful cryptocoryne in an aquarium, a favorite plant of aquarists. Suitable for tanks, both large and small. Natural habitat in nature – waterlogged reservoirs in Southeast Asia.

Roots are arranged horizontally on the surface of the earth ball. The leaves have an oval shape, the color of the leaf plate is green.

The plant can be planted in any home aquarium, it is better in the center of the reservoir, where it will look more impressive.

She does not like the temperature below 22 degrees, which is destructive for her. Allowable threshold – 23-28oS.

The plant prefers pure water, it is necessary to provide powerful filtration. In winter, it can fall ill, dropping leaves and curling up in a “tube”. The cause of the phenomenon is a change in daylight (less than 10 hours), the presence of harmful substances in the aquatic environment.

If you correct the temperature and quality of water, the plant can be reanimated in a short time, otherwise it will begin to rot at the root, and then die.

Cryptocoryne aponogenolistnaya – a magnificent plant of the family Aroids. It has a large size, giant leaves with a corrugated border, the color of which is light green. The height of the aquarium bush 60 cm, although in the wild (in the Philippines) grows very large.

Requires content in a large tank. It is better to plant the plant in the center of the tank.

Duration of growth – 1 year.

Planted cryptocoryne is better in a tropical aquarium with warm water at a temperature of 24-29 degrees. Permissible water hardness is 8-16 dGH, acidity is 7.0-8.0 pH. With frequent water changes, the pH gets off, and the plant turns into a “jelly,” and then decomposes (cryptocorynous disease).

It is better to change the water 1-2 times a month, only 1/6 of the total volume of the aquarium.

For the maintenance of plants suitable soil with a large number of nutrients. The soil should be the same temperature as the aquarium water.

Therefore, the tank must be heated from the bottom, and filter the water through the soil. Lighting loves bright, diffused.

You can install fluorescent lamps with a capacity of 0.4 W per 1 liter, the amount of light day is 10-12 hours. It is better to purchase a new aquarium for cryptocorins from a heat-insulating material, which will keep the temperature of the space constant.

Vegetative reproduction – due to the formation of lateral processes.

How to use Cryptocoryne Wendt in aquarium design?

These plants will look good in the foreground and middle ground in both solid and small domestic reservoirs. You can have them single bushes or groups.

Wendy can be decorated with leafless lower stems of other plants or the base of large stones.

Cryptocoryne is unique in that it does not lose its red color even in dim light. Due to this, color spots can be created even in the shade of tall plants.

Its leaves are greenish above and brown below. Can be corrugated.

If the plant is planted in open space, the leaves will move along the bottom.

Optimum conditions of maintenance: temperature 24-28 ° C (at lower growth slows down), rigidity 9-16 ° (in softer leaves can shed), acidity does not matter. To the purity of the water and the brightness of the lighting is undemanding.

Light day should be about 12 hours.

What is important is the ground. Considered the most suitable large river sand, which can be mixed with small pebbles.

All this needs to be well silted. The thickness of the soil layer in the aquarium should be at least 5 cm.

Welcome additional feeding from clay, peat and coal.

Ideal for brown cryptocorynes would be a low-level aquarium. It is better to have plants on the average plan. It should be remembered that in a small artificial pond Crypt will not grow large.

Over time, it forms thickets (if not thinned).

Breeding is possible with the help of basal shoots or dividing rhizomes.

Named because of the color of the leaves. It is low, rarely above 15 cm.

Therefore, the plant can be used to design the foreground of the aquarium: plant in the form of paths or make one large one from several bushes. Green Wendt is often combined with brown to create contrast.

Caring for this plant is quite simple. Conditions of detention are similar with the brown variety. If the lighting is bright, then the rosette of leaves turns horizontally on the ground.

If cryptocoryne is shaded by higher plants, the color of the leaves may become paler, but this will not affect its health.

Interesting! Cell sap of green Cryptocoryne has a bactericidal property, which somewhat inhibits the growth of algae.

Cryptocoryne is an incredibly common plant in many aquariums. The reason for this was the unpretentious nature of the plant, as well as a huge species diversity.

Lovers of aquarium greens can boast dozens of varieties. However, to determine belonging to this plant is not so easy. Even in the wild, cryptocorins differ among themselves depending on the place of distribution.

The same species may undergo significant changes in different rivers. Exactly the same effect is observed in aquariums. In order to say for sure, it is necessary to make an expensive genome analysis.

Despite the fact that to achieve flowering or to buy a plant with a flower in practice is very difficult, aquarists around the world continue to grow it.

Most aquarists still use the cryptocorynes in the aquarium for decoration, and not for breeding. Therefore, it is not necessary to determine which species your plant belongs to.

Choose it depending on the set of decorative purposes – in color, leaf shape and size.

There are a lot of species of this plant. In order to systematize them at least somehow, it was decided to divide the representatives into conditional categories. This separation is convenient for selection.

Just look at the photos of the cryptocorins and decide whether it will suit you or not.

Types of cryptocoryne are separated according to the form of a leaf:

  • Elongated leaves forming lush bushes;
  • Rounded;
  • Lanceolate, folding in long bushes.

Another option where the sheets are completely absent in their characteristic bumps and red blotches. However, these plants are not many.

Cryptocoryne aponogetololithous species of one of the most beautiful aquarium plants. His sheets can reach one meter in length, but in an aquarium most often does not exceed half a meter.

The apatogetolithic cryptocoryne has an underdeveloped straight stalk, on which are located elongated leaves with sharp ends. You can see the appearance on the photo.

A tapered plate can have two forms: a ribbon and an ellipse. Upon detailed examination, you can see five longitudinal streaks.

The colors of this type vary greatly.

Count on the rapid growth of the plant is not worth it. It develops very slowly, approximately on one sheet in 3-4 weeks. A leaf that appears, grows back on the surface of the water.

It is not uncommon to achieve flowering in an aquarium. Aponogetonic kryptocoryne has beautiful flowers of unusual shape and shade.

If you decide to start this kind, then be prepared for the fact that you have to monitor the constancy of the water level in a high aquarium. It transfers water poorly, so a serving is added once a month.

It is picky about the temperature and does not tolerate changes in acidity. For its maintenance a tropical aquarium with a constantly high rate of thermometer is necessary.

Another difficulty in the maintenance of aponogetolithic cryptocoryne is the heating of the soil. It is necessary to achieve stability in equalizing the temperature of the soil and water. For this purpose, special PETs installed under the substrate layer are used.

As it will fit a layer of medium-sized pebbles with river sand. Some aquarists go to the trick and plant the plant in a small clay pot, which is buried in a different filling of the aquarium.

  • Voda about 25 degrees;
  • Stiffness in the region of 9-16pH;
  • Alkalinity 7.1-8.0pH.

Protect the plant from intense sunlight and bring the light closer to the natural. It is necessary to highlight more than 12 hours a day.

Young plants should be planted before the formation of 5 sheets.

This species has narrow leaves with a shirring effect. This is clearly seen in the photo.

In an ideal environment can reach half a meter in height. The best place in the aquarium – the side or rear.

Uniform growth and unpretentiousness made cryptocore balance very common. It grows well and develops in aquariums, whose conditions are close to tropical.

Ideal conditions for the content:

  • Temperature from 21 to 28 degrees;
  • Stiffness from 6.1 to 15.9pH;
  • Neutral or low alkaline environment;
  • Moderate, bright lighting.

The balance can be located in the shade of other plants. It is desirable to scatter the light so that the young shoots become juicier and acquire a brown tint.

Highlight cryptocoryne need at least 12 hours a day.

Cultivation in the greenhouse is possible, however, its size will be smaller than the aquarium. Enough to maintain high temperature and bright lighting.

Under the conditions of care, the plant blooms.

Aquarium plants. Cryptocoryne Wendt: breeding and care (photo)

The birthplace of Wendt cryptocorynes is the waters of Sri Lanka. This ornamental plant has corrugated leaves and a beautiful bronze shade on a green background. That is why it is especially recommended to grow in aquariums that have a greater depth of the water layer, where over time, thick, incredibly beautiful thickets are formed.

Due to its small height, up to 20 centimeters, cryptocoryne is ideal for decorating the average plan of an aquarium, the lower the water level, the more beautiful its leaves are located on the surface, creating a unique landscape. The width of the bush on average is 12 centimeters.

Cryptocoryne is growing quite rapidly, however, if it is contained in small aquariums, its size will be slightly less, about 6 cm high and 8 mm wide. In large aquariums, this plant can reach a height of up to 30 centimeters.

Sick plant is easily determined by the state of the leaves. When some problems arise, the leaf blades darken very quickly, become soft, transparent and begin to decompose. The development of the disease can be triggered by a sharp change of water, a change in its parameters, intensity or spectrum of light.

Sometimes this condition of the plant can be caused by other reasons. Often the disease is transferred from transplanting plants from other, infected aquariums. The only way to fight is to remove the leaves, replace the water and clean the soil from dirt.

In this case, the rhizome, freed from the leaves, allowed to float freely on the surface of the water. As a rule, after such a procedure, it releases its daughter processes, on which young leaves are formed.

In this way, the maternal plant can be saved and propagated.

Wendt Cryptocoryne is often called a universal aquarium decoration, suitable for use even by inexperienced aquarists who first encounter the breeding of living underwater plants. Nevertheless, being such an unpretentious representative of the flora, this wonderful bush pleases with its unusual appearance and numerous varieties that can please the most exacting amateur or professional.

The main thing is care and patience, then your plant will serve for a long time as a wonderful decoration of the aquarium and create comfort for numerous underwater inhabitants.

Wendt gets well acclimatized in various conditions, although it prefers the composition of water of medium or moderate hardness. An environment that is too soft can contribute to loss of decoration and leaf rot.

The ideal temperature for keeping will be about 24 degrees; at lower rates, plant growth can slow down.

Cryptocoryne is well tolerated as a long stagnant water, and its frequent change. Such conditions do not have special influence on the development and growth of the plant.

Also well bushes take root in slightly alkaline or weakly acidic water.

Wendt Cryptocoryne tolerates both artificial and natural light, but in the case of direct sunlight, the plant must be covered. To create a comfortable environment bushes need fluorescent or incandescent bulbs. You can also combine these two types of lighting, providing the plant a full range of radiation.

It should be noted that for every liter of water a power of 0.3 W is needed.

Cryptocoryne Wendt Brown loves moderate lighting with light shading from larger specimens of aquarium plants, which does not affect the color of its leaves. In such conditions, it will feel as good as with bright lamps.

Light day for this plant should be at least 12 hours.

Wendt cryptocoryn is the most undemanding to the conditions of detention from the type of cryptocoryne. The size of the aquarium is not particularly important for successful growth, except that with a small amount of water – its size will be smaller. Soil this plant needs loose, rich in nutrients.

A good option is considered to be a small pebble interspersed with coarse river sand. When landing, under the bush itself you need to put a lump of clay with peat, or charcoal.

The optimum temperature is 23–26 ° C, but lower temperatures are also well tolerated, but at temperatures around 18–20 ° C, plant growth can slow down dramatically. The required water hardness is from 7 to 15 ° dH, pH 6.5 – 7.5. With a sharp change in stiffness or other parameters of water, Wendt’s cryptocoryne can drastically drop all the leaves.

The most common cause is excessive mildness of water. But in this case you should not get upset if you adjust the parameters of the water to the optimum – the plant will again grow green leaves of the remaining rhizomes.

It is only necessary to identify the cause of a sharp change in water hardness and try not to repeat mistakes again.

Admire the yellow cryptocoryne.

For successful growth of alignment, a bright but diffused light is necessary. Try to protect the cryptocoryne from direct sunlight.

Fluorescent lamps especially for aquarium plants are well suited for lighting. If possible, you can choose among the lamps of this series of models with a predominance of red rays in the emission spectrum. Here they will be the ideal option for cryptocorins.

But if there is no such possibility – you should not get upset, cryptocrine can successfully grow even in the shade of higher aquarium plants and also has phenomenal variability and adaptability. Wendt cryptocoryne doesn’t require demanding food and water changes, it grows well in old and renewable water and does not need fertilizers.

Cryptocoryne – one of the few aquarium plants that successfully grow in the pond and on land, in a wet greenhouse. On land, this plant blooms, which is not observed when the aquarium content.

Cryptocoryne grown in a greenhouse can be easily placed in an aquarium, it will not affect its health or appearance.

See how beautiful cryptocoryne looks.

Since the cryptocoryne forms a loose bush, the middle or foreground of the aquarium is considered to be an ideal place for placement. However, in the foreground it is necessary not to place it in the center, but to move it to the left or to the right, so that as it grows it does not interfere with the view. On the middle ground you can place it in the center and anywhere.

Cryptocoryne is an unpretentious and durable aquarium plant and will calmly even withstand its placement in the shade of larger and more dense neighbors. Even with poor lighting, it usually does not change the color of the leaves.

Wendt Cryptocoryn is an excellent choice for all aquarists, from beginners to professionals. The main thing is to comply with simple maintenance conditions, and it will delight the owner with its long, corrugated lanceolate leaves and rapid growth.

A phenomenal variability of this plant will not get used to it and decorate and diversify any aquarium.
