Studying the literature on aquarium, we regularly come across information that the aquarium should at least minimally correspond to one or another corner of nature, and it is better to be a detailed copy of it. That is, the home aquarium should be a kind of model of the real world, which is enclosed in glass frames.
We are constantly warned that any deviation from the usual standard norms leads to extremely negative consequences in the form of loss of aesthetics and naturalness. But is it?
If we argue from the point of view of science of biology, the better the conditions we create in the home aquarium, the better it will feel its inhabitants. Such an approach requires an aquarist of a certain level of knowledge, training and diligence.
And believe me, the result will reward your eye with an unforgettable picture that will lead you to the world of virgin nature.
However, the real biotope is very difficult to create and they are practically not found among domestic amateurs. Much more often we see a picture when organisms that have similar habitat conditions are collected in one reservoir.
Quite often, novice aquarists use plastic artificial plants to decorate their aquariums, because they contain such species of fish that simply do not get along with living vegetation (goldfish, piranhas, large cichlid species). In this case, the use of artificial plants is a justifiable means for maintaining at least some decorative home pond.
From the point of view of biology, such aquariums are called avant-garde, because they have nothing in common, with the exception of fish, they do not have a certain corner of nature. However, the reality of the picture when it is saved. Accordingly, the difference is in how much and what materials were used, and not in the design style of the reservoir.
Only the mood is different, which is created depending on the aquarium design style used.
A traditional aquarium with live plants and balanced correct lighting can relax the observer, calming the shaky emotional balance. To fully experience the magic of such an aquarium, you need to come home, sit in front of the aquarium and watch its life for some time.
However, the modern level of development of aquarism has long gone beyond the limits of a house or apartment. Glass jars of various shapes and sizes are used to decorate the interior of various institutions, attracting the attention of a large number of people. Very often, aquariums are installed in places where a person has no time to look at it (trading rooms and foyers).
In some cases (conference rooms and meeting rooms), aquariums that attract the eye are even a superfluous attribute of the interior.
You must admit that the classic tropical aquarium in the modern high-tech interior, dominated by unconventional silhouettes and synthetic materials, will be inappropriate. In this case, the aquarium should have a non-standard shape and size. And here avant-garde aquariums come to our aid.
Such an unconventional body of water does not require close attention from a person.
Is it possible to name the avant-garde aquarium cacophony of shape and color? More likely no than yes. Ideally, the design of the aquarium and the interior of the room should be in harmony, otherwise you risk the very opposite effect.
Suppose if there is such an opportunity, then in the aquarium you can use the colors of the ceiling and walls. And in this case there is no need to respect the spatial sequence. For example, the color of the ceiling is white, the furniture is green or blue, and the floor is generally black.
In the aquarium, you can use white soil, blue plastic plants and a black background.
In any case, the number of colors used in the arrangement of the avant-garde aquarium should be in harmony with its volume. In a small jar with a capacity of 70 to 100 liters it will be enough to use no more than 4 colors.
In aquariums from 200 liters, you can add a few more color variations. The main thing to remember is that if you overdo it with paints, then instead of a harmonious and complete picture you will get an awkward daub of paints, devoid of semantic meaning.
It is possible to create an avant-garde aquarium in vessels of any size, there are no restrictions here. The only condition is that all decorative elements and colors should correspond to the overall picture and volume of the can.
In fact, the avant-garde design style is much simpler than the standard and proportional, since in this case there is no need to strictly adhere to the traditions that have been established for more than one decade.
Due to the high level of technical progress, there is a huge amount of compositional options for designing avant-garde style. With the advent of synthetic plants and soils of all kinds of paints, in modern aquarism there is a unique opportunity to create any types of landscapes.
At one time, cosmic landscapes were generally fashionable. In such aquariums terraces were made of soil, which resembled the surface of a mysterious planet.
Since synthetic soils and plants are completely inert to aquarium water, its hydrochemical parameters do not suffer in any way. Accordingly, the choice of fish for the aquarium becomes free.
The main condition – the color and behavior of future inhabitants of the aquarium should correspond to the overall picture.
Is it possible to use natural materials in avant-garde aquariums? Of course, but with their help, creating an unconventional picture becomes an order of magnitude more difficult.
If you want to organize a rocky landscape, then choose large stones of irregular shape. The main task is to get the desired contrast: a dark big cobblestone will look on the white ground.
With regards to the background of the aquarium, then there are no problems at all, as anyone can make the back wall or paint the panel.
But from the use of living aquatic plants in avant-garde aquariums should be abandoned. In addition, the light in such an aquarium will perform not a biological function, but an aesthetic one. For example, in aquariums in the form of coffee tables, the light is generally located at the bottom with a special light filter, which gives the water a special shade.
The spectral component and the intensity of light in avant-garde aquariums will not be able to provide living plants with the necessary conditions for life.
Perhaps you have already formed the opinion that avant-garde aquariums should be installed only in the foyer of shopping centers and offices. This is partly true, but this style is perfect for a home aquarium, but only if your interior design will be a match for such an aquarium.
If you compare with our usual classic aquarium, avant-gardes require special care. Because even with a small amount of algae on a red or white background, all aesthetics disappear and a kind of messy reservoir appears.
A similar situation is with light ground, which can spoil the whole picture if it is not cleaned in a timely manner.
But in terms of originality avant-garde aquarium greatly superior to classic ponds. If you want to surprise your friends or relatives, then a blue-green aquarium with a black cover is suitable for this.
