Hello everyone, today I want to talk about creating an aquarium design for certain types of fish, namely for discus. Aquarium design for discus requires a significant level of professionalism and certain skills, as this is due to the high requirements for the maintenance of these fish.
The main emphasis in creating an aquarium design for discus is placed on the water temperature, since it should be in the range of 28-31 degrees Celsius.
The discus itself is a very beautiful fish, so if you want to support these brigands, worry about creating the necessary quality conditions for the fish. A well-designed aquarium for the discus, in which many interesting and beautiful plants, with bizarre-shaped curtains, will especially emphasize the beauty of these aquarium fish.
If you have not picked up a snag for an aquarium, I have a post on my blog in which I told everything popularly. But let’s still return to the discus 🙂 The high temperature of the water as in a discus aquarium may not be suitable for most aquatic plants, therefore, the choice of aquarium plants must be taken seriously.
In addition, almost all discus do not like much-lit places, so you will have a dilemma: you need to create such lighting conditions so that there is enough light for aquarium plants and it is not in abundance for the discus themselves. Also, do not forget about creating small open areas with subdued lighting. Here is one more important point: discusy do not like very much when organic water is abundant in aquarium water.
The most important factor for discus is this is a clean aquarium. Almost all the problems arising from the maintenance of these fish are the lack of cleanliness and order in the aquariums.
To make your fish feel comfortable in the bank, you need to get a powerful biofilter and increase the water change to thirty percent. As we know, in natural conditions discus live in slightly acidic or neutral soft water.
But, as shown by the practice of keeping these aquarium fish in our aquariums, the pH level and water hardness do not play any role. The main thing is that the level of these parameters should be constantly the same, or the variations of these parameters should be scanty.
In the discus aquarium should be approximately the following water parameters: pH 5.5-7.0, dH 3-12, water temperature 28-31 degrees Celsius.
I think you know that the higher the temperature of the water, the less oxygen will be dissolved in the water, and therefore you need to install a couple of aeration points. In addition, a favorable oxygen regime will be very useful for beneficial bacteria: in oxygen-enriched and warm water, bacteria multiply much better.
Perhaps the most successful solution in such a situation would be: behind the aquarium, glue a dark background to the wall (black is best) in order to create a realistic effect in the aquarium you will need to add a couple of interesting well-crafted corks that will need to be attached to the back wall of the aquarium. It will be necessary to dilute all this picture with beautiful and expensive artificial plants.
As a soil for the aquarium, it is best to use either coarse sand or gravel, laid in a thin layer. There is also a landscape addition option with a couple of roots hanging from the top of the aquarium.
If you successfully direct the light to the resulting composition, then the picture should be very, very solid, even taking into account the absence of live aquatic plants in the aquarium.
Since discus is a schooling fish, it will be necessary to keep them in the amount of 6-8 pieces, but it is best to buy about a dozen fish. When choosing an aquarium, consider the moment that for an adult discus you need about 40 liters of water, in contrast to five-centimeter fish that will be enough, and 8 liters. When creating an aquarium design for discus, be careful: discus grows very quickly, and after about six months they will need additional volume.
If you bought an aquarium much larger than the required volume for the normal maintenance of the discus, in such a jar these fish will grow significantly faster. For the discus aquarium, the stoliter bank is not suitable, so small-sized aquariums are not suitable. To dilute the picture, you can make a flock of characters, such as red neons or rhodostomuses, in a discussion aquarium.
The combination of discus with neon looks very beautiful. In the appendage, add a couple more, another girinoheylyusov to clean the aquarium from all the nastiness and you will be happy.
By the way, do not forget about the aquarium equipment, it will greatly facilitate the care of your underwater garden.
That’s all that I wanted to say about the discussion aquarium, if you have other thoughts on this subject, you are welcome in the comments. There we will discuss the “all” pros and cons.
