Hello dear colleagues, I am glad to welcome you again on my blog reading articles on aquarism. I hope that my articles are not very boring and you like them.
If the situation is exactly the opposite, then I am waiting for your letters on the soap with the wishes and your opinion about the materials published on the blog. Maybe someone wants to offer something, some innovation, and so on. I will be glad to hear your wishes and adopt them.
So, something I blurted out. What are we going to talk about today?
Today we will talk about algae, or rather not just about these reptiles, and what they can cause diseases in aquariums. Last time, if you remember, I wrote an article about Alternanter Reinek. The article turned out I consider voluminous as for describing an aquarium plant.
And today’s post will be a small reviewer, so as not to bore you with large articles and I’ll remember a little how to write small articles. When I worked copywriting, small articles were just a joy to me, since they are written fairly quickly and a large enough number of them can be stamped in a day.
Well, okay, switch to algae.
As far as we know, not only fish and we are susceptible to every kind of sore, but we also get sick plants that grow in our aquariums. But due to the slow flow of life processes in them, this action is relatively slow, unlike fish.
Aquarium plants can die from both parasites and not very favorable external factors. In this article we will talk with you about those diseases that are caused by simple algae and they suffer from vegetation in aquariums.
Virtually any kind of algae you can bring yourself to the aquarium with live food or other plants taken from a natural pond or from other aquariums. You want to, or do not want to, but in any aquarium there will be algae, the only question is whether they can activate or you won’t let them. Another important question is brewing: how will these algae affect the life of living organisms in our banks?
If you keep them in an iron fist, do not allow an excess of organic matter in the aquarium, then all you will have type-top! But if you neglect any important factor, then you may experience some troubles, for example, water will bloom and become brown.
However, the above moment can be classified as a head cold, which can be easily and simply treated:
– when the water has bloomed, stop feeding the fish for three days;
– Shade your tank to the maximum for the period indicated above;
– Try not to change the water in the aquarium for a few days if you have coincided with the term of the substitution;
– organize in the aquarium powerful filtration of water using a biofilter or a turbine filter.
In great happiness of our aquarists, these algae are practically not found in tropical aquariums, since this is a disease of a cold-water aquarium. However, if you still see small bunches or hairs of a reddish tinge, either brown or blue-green, on the leaves of your aquarium, or on the leaves of plants, then we can congratulate you – you have become a victim of purple. The most effective solution in this situation is to put a couple in the aquarium, another scavenger fish such as girinoheylus, antsistrusov or otoclus.
In just a few days, they will induce a marafet in your bank and gnaw almost all the algae.
If these reptiles appeared in your tank, then nothing good will happen. To put it mildly, in such cases the aquarium is slightly “sub-ache”.
Over time, these algae will begin to cover the plants, the walls of the aquarium and the aquarium soil. The appearance of blue-green algae can be determined by the appearance on the walls of dark green dots, which for some time will merge into one big blob and a dense crust forms at that place. To clean this crust is extremely difficult, so mechanical cleaning is not the most effective option in this case.
If the algae began to fall on the plants, then from them the higher plants are extremely difficult to sick, stop growing and the leaves begin to rot.
Here is a list of possible causes of the appearance of blue-green algae in an aquarium:
– brought infection with live food;
– biological balance has not yet been established in the aquarium;
– insufficient aeration of aquarium water;
– active reaction of water slightly alkaline;
– excessive lighting in the aquarium;
– high temperature of aquarium water.
To get rid of these reptiles you need to perform the following procedures:
– try to mechanically clean the walls of the aquarium, stones, soil and leaves of plants from algae (only carefully clean the leaves of the plants so as not to damage them);
– if you have no medical orderlies with a sucker in your tank, be sure to get these very useful friends (these fish will actively clean off the algae);
– if weak aeration of water, increase it, and in case of excessive illumination – remove a couple of lamps. On a pinch if it did not help, there is always the option of a medical treatment for the ailment: take the antibiotic penicillin in the proportion of 10,000 units per liter of water.
Frankly speaking, there are such species of these algae that bring a considerable amount of smut to aquarists. To fight with them, in principle, it is not difficult, but not all.
Usually the aquarium is darkened for a couple of days, or it reduces the level of lighting in the aquarium. However, there are such guys, for example, “Blackbeard”, from which it is impossible to get rid of it by simple darkening.
I think black beard saw everything, so I see no reason to dwell on its appearance, for this there will be enough of a screenshot.
When a black beard enters the aquarium, it begins to hit plants with hard leaves. In my aquarium, the beard periodically appears and beats the infection of the dwarf Anubias and the Wendt cryptocoryne. Plus its bunches can appear on stones, a snag, a ground and even a filter.
Since I have an internal filter, I also noticed it periodically there. Get rid of his beard hard. Experienced aquarists are trying to create in aquariums such conditions that higher plants simply crush it.
However, there is another way for lazy people to use a drug like Sidex. It is sold in five-liter canisters and unfortunately I could not find it in my city.
At least this is an effective way to get rid of this filth, who would not say that.
Simple mechanical cleaning of the affected areas of the aquarium will not bring any special results. If you have not completely cleaned the beam with a stiff brush, then in its place a new one will form over time.
It is better, of course, to try not to create in aquariums favorable conditions for the development of lower plants, such as algae. To avoid getting a black beard in the aquarium, try not to take aquarium plants from someone who does not understand.
In addition, if the disputes of this filth will be on the fish, which you have taken from your friend, then you are guaranteed to bring a black beard into your bank.
This is probably all the most common problems with algae, it was possible to recall brown algae and many others, but I decided to dwell only on these. Perhaps, in time, I will do another one or another similar review, but for now I’ll stop here.
