Lump yellow or Waterlily (Nuphar lutea)

Yellow jug (Nuphar lutea) is an aquatic plant of the genus Cub of the Nymphaeaceae family (Nymphaeaceae). Also, the plant is known as kupava yellow, water lily, burdock water, yellow water lily.

Thickets yellow dice grow in lakes and ponds, along the banks of rivers with a slow flow of all temperate regions of Eurasia.

Have yellow dice, like other members of this family, there are both underwater leaves and rosette rosette leaves floating on the surface. A leaf in shape can be both rounded and ovoid, about 20 cm long. The shape of a sheet floating on the surface is the same, but in size it is somewhat larger – up to 40 cm long and 30 cm wide. The base of the leaves is heart-shaped, colored from light to deep green.

Rhizome water burdock long and creeping. The plant blooms large, bright yellow flowers.

Lifespan water lilies about two years.

Optimal for content yellow dice there will be water, the dH of which is in the range of 5-20 °, and the pH is from 6.5 to 7.5. Grows fast enough in moderate aquarium with a water temperature of 20-25 ° C. Feels good without dressing and in poor soil.

Some haracin, carp and tsikhlovye readily include yellow capsules in their menu.

Breeds bean yellow rhizome or seed. In the first case, at the end of October – beginning of November, it is recommended to transfer the rhizomes into a separate container with water, the temperature of which is 8-12 ° C. In April, rhizomes are planted in the aquarium soil and young leaves appear on the plant.

In the second variant, seeds are harvested in natural waters in late summer or early autumn. Toward the end of August, a half-mature “bump” appears on the plant, which must also be torn off and, tied with a cloth, tied with thread, so as not to float away, and left to swim until fully mature.

As soon as the “bump” is ripe, it will sink to the bottom of the reservoir. Consequently, the “bump” with the seeds can be pulled.

Unfortunately, the few ripe seeds immediately grow, and most of the overwintered plants die. Recommended in this version breeding After all, plants should not be planted at once, but stored in a refrigerator wrapped in a damp cotton cloth at a temperature of 0 … + 4 ° С. At the end of March or the beginning of April, seeds should be planted in a container with the ground (a mixture of sand and clay) and a layer of fresh, settled water (up to 10 cm), the temperature of which is from 18 to 22 ° C.

A plant about 6 cm long with 3-4 leaves can be transferred to a common aquarium.
