Green carpet from Chemianthus cube

Chemianthus Kuba is used in many styles of aquascaping because it can grow on a green carpet.

Hemianthus callitricho In another he is called “pearl grass” because of small rounded petals and “family plant” because he feels comfortable surrounded by similar vegetation.

Stems up to 1 cm high. Round leaves 2 mm in diameter.

There are 2-4 leaves on one stalk. Roots up to 5 cm, firmly holding the stones.

The color is deep green, slightly darker on top. By evening, air bubbles accumulate in the leaves, which shimmer in the light.

This miniature plant from Cuba has a role in the biological equilibrium of the aquarium. Roots on sloping, horizontal and hilly surfaces.

With good care and suitable conditions, hemianthus lives for many years.

In home ponds apply hemianthus 2 types:

  • Cuba. Darker in color, forms flowers. Creates a thick carpet at the bottom.
  • Mikrantemoides. Lighter, does not bloom. Together with the cube creates a voluminous and lively composition.
  • Cuba can be settled with a similar to the description of the Monte Carlo microrangement – an aquarium plant with large leaves in diameter. So you can achieve a smooth transition from one tier of vegetation to another.

    Hembictuses of Cuba are contained in any volumes with a water depth of no more than a meter. Carbon dioxide supply will be required, fertilizing with iron-containing fertilizers. Optimum water parameters:

    Temperature20–28 degrees
    Rigidityup to 18 dGh
    Acidity6–8 pH
    Water height30–50 cm
    Carbon Dioxide Content10–30 mg per 1 liter
    Ammonia contentup to 10 units

    Weekly change from 20-25% of the water to a new one. Periodically check the parameters of water tests.

    Chemianthus Cuba is suitable silted rocky soil with a diameter of 3 mm. A layer of soil 3-5 cm with a substrate of nutrient substrate.

    Good illumination (50 lm per 1 l of water) ensures good and fast growth. With a lack of light, the cube creates a rare and high carpet that looks sloppy.

    In their natural habitat, cuba hemianthus grows in fast flowing rivers and does not tolerate stagnant water. The filter must be powerful.

    Strong roots easily withstand the flow of water.

    Trim the green carpet when the stems grow more than 1–2 cm. If this is not done, on reaching 5 cm the lower part will rot and the top will float to the surface. Haircut makes the carpet more dense and fluffy.

    Cut the stems out of length and the fast-growing greens that can drive out the chemicalus. Remove dead branches with tweezers and replace with new ones.

    Cuba is suitable for the foreground. There are several ways to fit cubes:

  • Group. The method is relevant for tanks with a large area of the bottom. Separate a small piece from the carpet and plant it at a distance of at least 2 cm from the main carpet. So drop some groups of cubes. Soon the distance between the landings will decrease, the groups form a solid carpet. If the design implies a bottom with irregularities and mounds, the cuba hemiantus will cover them.
  • Single This planting is suitable for small aquariums. Plant the bushes with tweezers at a distance of 1 cm from each other.
  • Attaching to the stones. Tie bunches of hemianthus to the stones. You can use toothpicks or skewers for fixation, removing them after a few weeks. Decorate the snag by drilling holes in it and inserting bundles of cubes into them.
  • Cuba grows well in reservoirs with a large number of fish, as it receives the necessary amount of organic matter. Hemianthus harmonizes with schooling fish:

  • neon;
  • danios;
  • guppy;
  • swordtails;
  • rass;
  • mollies;
  • chilias.
  • And also shrimps:

    Hernivorous fish and snails act as bad neighbors:

  • ancistrus;
  • corridors;
  • fighting;
  • plecostomy;
  • melania;
  • fizy.
  • Greens do not like transplants. Proper planting and fertilization will ensure fast multiplication of cubes.

    Make sure that all conditions for the maintenance of hemianthus are met, and there is enough light in the aquarium. Set off a small group of greens, and after 4 weeks the group will connect with the main carpet.

    Chemianthus grows poorly with a lack of carbon dioxide, fertilizers and weak filtration. If the fertilizer is abundant, the cube becomes dark in color, and the growth of algae begins.

    Timely noticed problem will protect the aquarium flora from mass death. Treat new plants and keep newly purchased fish in a quarantine tank.

    If the necessary equipment is available, but you cannot determine the cause of poor growth, check the water parameters.

    Bush cubes of 5 square meters. cm is 80-150 rubles.

    Hemianthus is suitable for experienced aquarists and amateurs, rather than beginners. Modern aquarism offers beginners different types of mosses, growing no less than a nice carpet.

    Therefore, beginners can equip the landscape in the aquarium, comparable in beauty to the works of professionals.
