Fighting algae Vietnamese in an aquarium

The appearance of this algae in the aquarium is afraid of all their owners, without exception. After getting there, the Vietnamese gradually fills all the space around.

If you do not fight it, you can lose all the aquarium vegetation, and the aquarium itself will lose its former appeal. Defeating such an enemy is not at all easy: it will take time and patience.

Once in the aquarium Vietnamese gradually fills the entire space around

Homeland Vietnamese – Southeast Asia. She came to Russia with tropical plants and since then has been complicating the lives of aquarists. The flip-flop belongs to the red algae, and its Latin name is Audocinella.

You can also meet her called red beard.

Red beard is a filamentous bundle that grows from one point and looks like a tassel. The length of such a beam is from 5 to 20 mm.

Despite the fact that the Vietnamese belongs to the red algae, its color is close to black. Red it is called because of the coloring pigment, which is not so easy to see with the naked eye.

It is detected only by contact with alcohol or solvent.

At first, the algae settles at the very tips of the leaves of aquarium plants, gradually moving further and further, and eventually filling up their entire surface. The flip-flop feels great and on all items of decor, decorating the aquarium, as well as on its walls and even on the surface of the soil.

Although the red beard is not a parasite in the literal sense of the word and does not feed on the sap of the plants that it has chosen, it causes great harm to them. Having completely covered the surface of the culture growing in an aquarium, it shields it from light, does not allow useful elements to pass through to the tissues and ultimately leads to death.

In addition, spreading around the entire aquarium, Vietnamese seaweed completely changes its appearance. After only a month after its appearance, all the internal space of the aquarium is covered with an unpleasant black bloom, which is not so easy to get rid of.

After all, this type of algae has an incredible vitality and tenacity, it is firmly attached to the place of growth and keeps with all his might.

If the situation is running, the only way to defeat the weed is to completely eliminate all the vegetation of the aquarium, which is pretty expensive. Therefore, you should recognize the first signs of the appearance of the enemy in time and take steps to destroy it.

Red beard never appears just like that. Some reasons always contribute to this.

At risk are newly launched aquariums, which have not yet established the nitrogen cycle. The emergence and rapid growth of the pest are promoted by such factors as:

  • lack of cleanliness and order in the aquarium. This leads to the creation of a favorable breeding environment for the Vietnamese;
  • lack of oxygen in the water. It weakens vegetation and it does not resist the invasion of the enemy;
  • too much blowing and too powerful movement of water. Contribute to raising from the bottom of the silt, which feeds on a red beard;
  • excess vegetation and fish. This leads to imbalance in the ecosystem;
  • high content of nitrates and phosphates in water. They serve as food for algae;
  • placing in the aquarium raw pre-stones, soil and decor items. With them, a red beard can be brought inside.

Some studies prove the effect of yellow spectrum lamps on the development of weedy algae. Such lighting does not benefit the cultivated plants and only contributes to the growth of the red beard.

The same can be said about direct sunlight, so it is better not to place the aquarium in the place where it falls.

First of all, the Vietnamese woman caught in the aquarium strikes cultures with wide leaves. This is Echinodorus and Anubias.

Therefore, when a harmful alga is found on their surface, it is better to immediately remove such plants.

Particularly attentive should be newcomers aquarists. After all, they may not notice the first signs of the appearance of a malicious subject and miss the time.

Therefore, they are advised to inspect their aquarium as often as possible.

Fighting Vietnamese in an aquarium is a rather long process.

This is where to start fighting with a red beard. It consists in the systematic removal of algae from all plants and objects that have become its victim. This is done manually as follows:

  1. Stones, decorations and snags get out of the water and are thoroughly cleaned, after which they are placed in boiling water and cooked for 20 minutes. If due to boiling some object may suffer, it should be held for a couple of days in a solution of whiteness, and then rinsed. Dilute the product should be in the ratio of 1:20;
  2. Plants are placed under running water and gently washed. At the same time, all damaged and rotting parts should be completely removed from them, since they can later become the object of an attack of weed algae. With a strong defeat also helps whiteness. Keep the plants in solution for 5-7 minutes, and rinse for at least half an hour;
  3. The soil is cleaned and siphoned;
  4. Thermometers are wiped with alcohol.
