Cryptocoryne yellow (Cryptocoryne lutea)

Cryptocoryne yellow (Cryptocoryne lutea) – aquarium plant of the genus Cryptocoryne (Cryptocor? Ne) family aroid (Araceae).

Motherland yellow cryptocoryne – The island of Sri Lanka.

Cryptocoryne yellow – unpretentious in content, resistant to adverse conditions and therefore quite popular among aquarist plant. In addition, cryptocoryne yellow is a very beautiful plant. It is a grassy shrub with long leaves collected in a rosette.

The stem of the plant is not. In height the bush reaches 20 cm.

Leaves yellow cryptocoryne depending on light, they can be colored in color from green with a red longitudinal vein to red.

Cryptocoryne yellow looks more profitable landed on the front or middle ground aquarium. The temperature limit is very large: from 20 to 30 ° C.

If the temperature of the water in the aquarium is below 20 °, plant growth slows down. There are no special requirements for the composition of the water. Optimum will be the following indicators of water: hardness 4-16 °, temperature from 24 to 28 ° C, pH 6.8-7.5.

The plant, however, not bad transfers and more acidic water, the pH of which is below 6.0. This species is fairly resistant to cryptocorynous disease, but a sharp increase in the acidity of soft water often leads to dropping the leaves.

In order to prevent further decay of the leaves, it is necessary to drain 1 / 3-1 / 4 of water, then add in akvarium water whose characteristics are close to optimal. In normal development, it is not necessary to change the water periodically: the plant feels comfortable in both fresh and old water.

Cryptocoryne yellow grows well in various conditions aquarium lighting: long-term shading or bright light. As lighting devices it is recommended to use fluorescent lamps of type LB, the power of which is calculated on the displacement aquarium and is 0.25-0.5 W / l or incandescent lamps with a capacity of 0.75-1.5 W / l. The best results are given by a combination of these illuminators.

In low light, the leaf plate is green and the red vein runs along the center. With increasing light intensity, the leaves of the plant become beet-colored. Duration of daylight is within 8-16 hours.

For yellow cryptocoryne content best suited heavily silted, old soil. But it can grow in a new, poor nutrient soil. With this option, add a little sludge from the old aquarium or place a small lump of clay under the roots of the plant.

The substrate in the aquarium spread a layer of 5 cm. The substrate may be small pebbles, coarse sand.

Keep yellow cryptocoryne can also be in a wet greenhouse. At a temperature of 28-30 ° C and bright light the plant may bloom. In artificial conditions of the maintenance does not form seeds.

The water form of yellow cryptocorynes is much more beautiful than the ground one. In order to transfer the plant from water to air conditions, it is necessary to gradually lower the water level in the aquarium to the ground level.

From the greenhouse to the aquarium the plant can be transferred immediately.

Cryptocoryne yellow multiplies only vegetatively. Under favorable conditions, the plant grows rapidly, forming dense thickets that must be periodically thinned out.

From these thickets take plants with 3-4 leaves and planted in a new place. The young plant quickly takes root.
