Voiletail fish: maintenance and care, looks like, species (calico), how many live, photos, reproduction, compatibility

The voiletail fish belongs to the goldfish, the carp family. It is considered one of the most beautiful species.

Vualehvost – view, artificially derived in the east. It happens classic and tape. In the classical, the length of the tail parts is the same, while in the tape, the fused tail lobes have different lengths.

The value of an individual depends on the number of “fans”, their maximum is 4 pieces.

The fish grows up to 20 cm and has a short rounded body. Veil tail forked.

All fins are elongated and pointed. The height of the dorsal fin is more than half the body.

The eyes are large. The color is black, white, golden, red and orange.

Popular color forms: with a red torso and white fins, golden-red, and spotted.

Goldfish are harmless and slow inhabitants of aquariums. Suitable for single and group content.

Dig in the ground, dig up plants with a weak root system.

In good conditions, the fish lives 10-15 years.

There are several varieties that differ in color and shape of the tail. There is also an albino form of goldfish.

Color consists of orange, white and dark spots. The calico veiltail has coordination problems due to its large fins.

The tail resembles a fan, the length is equal to half the body. For breed characteristic fin angle of 90 degrees between the upper and lower blades.

Rare and valuable look. Fins come in different shapes.

Veils live with wide ranges of acidity and water hardness, they require low temperatures and good aeration. They are considered unpretentious, but undesirable as the first aquarium fish because of the peculiarities of the content.

For one individual, prepare a medium-sized aquarium (at least 50 liters). In a 100-liter tank will fit 2-3 fish, and with a volume of 150 l – 3-4 individuals. There are cases when the tail lodger was settled in an aquarium with a volume of 10–15 liters, but in such conditions the pet will not live long.

The ideal shape of the aquarium is rectangular. Mandatory shelter in the form of grottoes and snags.

Water temperature18–22 degrees
Acidity6–8 pH
Rigidity5–19 dGh

One third of the water change once a week. Veiltails carry a small amount of salt in water (5–7 g per 1 liter of water).

Choose cold-water plants with hard leaves and a strong root system:

  • vallisneria;
  • jug;
  • sagittar;
  • bakopu;
  • arrowhead.
  • Protect the roots by crushing them with small stones. Floating plants like duckweed and javanese moss are also suitable.

    Cover the bottom with coarse sand or pebbles. Pick up the non-sharp ground, as the goldfish can get hurt.

    Clean the soil once a week. Immediately remove the remnants of undernourished food, because the owners of the veil fins spend a lot of time in the lower layers of water.

    Place a filter and compressor in the aquarium. The filter can be internal and external, the external device performs better filtering.

    In hot weather, think about cooling water with special equipment or ice.

    Vualehvostam suitable natural lighting. If there are plants in the tank, make sure they have enough light.

    In food, veils are unpretentious, they eat all kinds of food:

  • granules for goldfish;
  • bloodworm;
  • gammarus;
  • daphnia;
  • peas;
  • spirulina;
  • lettuce and spinach.
  • Adult fish should be fed twice a day: in the morning and in the evening. Make a varied diet. Do not combine different types of food in the same meal.

    Serve in small portions. Once a week, do not feed pets to prevent obesity.

    Populate voile tails with peaceful species adapted to cool water:

  • some iris;
  • danios;
  • swordtails;
  • cardinals;
  • speckled catfish;
  • antsistrusami

    The ideal option is to stay in a group of 4-6 individuals. Veilhwosts get along well with similar varieties of goldfish: shubunkin, Ryukin or telescope.

    Remember that the tail cap intersects with other types of goldfish. You can not settle voilehvostov with tropical fish and species, biting fins:

  • barbs;
  • tetras;
  • cichilds;
  • cockerels;
  • fighting;
  • macropods.
  • Veiltails do not require special conditions for breeding. Provide quality feeding and frequent water changes.

    Gender voilehvosta determined at the age of 1 year. The female is larger than the male, the belly is rounded.

    White outgrowths appear on the gill covers of the male.

    A couple of weeks before breeding, keep the producers separate. Increase the content of protein feed in the diet. Then place the pets in the spawn.

    Increase the water temperature by 2–3 degrees and monitor the water quality. Spawning begins in the morning and lasts about 5 hours.

    Fish scatter up to 10 thousand eggs. To save offspring, seed off the producers. Caviar is incubated for 2 days.

    In a few days the fry independently swim and eat. Feed the fry 2–4 times a day with live dust, cyclops and rotifers.

    When the young grow up to 3 cm, transplant it to adult individuals.

    Because of the displacement of the organs, the voilehvosts are sick more often than the long-bodied counterparts. For fish, proper nutrition is especially important, as they are prone to obesity.

    There are problems with the swim bladder in the voilehvostov, which leads to a lack of coordination. The long fins of the voiletails are easily injured, and with poor care, injuries provoke fungal and bacterial infections. Veils are prone to disease:

  • Asphyxia. Oxygen starvation occurs due to poor aeration and rare water changes in the aquarium.
  • Overheating. Occurs when improper temperature conditions.
  • Dropsy. The scales of a diseased individual bristle up, abdomen swelling. Treated with antibiotics.
  • Fin rot. The disease affects the fins and body. There are a lot of drugs against fin rot.
  • Obesity. The disease occurs when excessive and monotonous feeding. In the first stage, it is treated with a vegetable diet or a hunger strike.
  • Vualehvostov contain both beginners and professionals. Many people like the way fish look in an aquarium.

    Vualehvosty cost 155-450 rubles, depending on the type and size.

    Vualehvosty – beautiful and unusual inhabitants of the aquarium. Goldfish are also interesting because they can survive at a water temperature below 10 degrees.
