The turquoise iridescence reaches its maturity by 8-10 months of age.

As a spawning take an aquarium of about 30 liters, which is filled with water having an acidity pH of 7.0-8.0. At the bottom are placed bushes of plants with small leaves.

Be sure to create a small stream of water in the spawner.

Before spawning, the producers are fed with various feeds several times a day. Understand that the fish are ready for spawning gives the fact that the females have a much larger abdomen, and the males take a contrasting color, and even during this period, an orange spot appears on the gill covers.
After the spawning of the producers, spawning is stimulated by a slight increase in water temperature. Spawning lasts a considerable time and can last several weeks. In the process of spawning, the female daily spawns eggs in small portions.

The number of eggs in the clutch is decreasing every day. Parents can eat their eggs, so it is desirable immediately after spawning to move all the eggs to another aquarium with similar water parameters. The eggs are incubated for 7-10 days, and after 4-5 days the fry begin to swim and eat.

At this time, they are fed lively dust and ciliates, and a little later they begin to give Artemia.
Life expectancy of the iris turquoise in aquarium conditions is about 5 years.

Turquoise iris is a schooling peaceful fish. In an aquarium with a volume of about 200-300 liters you can populate a small flock of 6-7 individuals.

They can also be kept together with other small and peace-loving fish, for example, neons from the haracite family.

  • • Cleanliness is the most important thing for a turquoise iris. A filter should be used and the water should be changed weekly;
  • • Temperature 22-25;
  • • Acidity 7-8;
  • • Hardness 8-12;
  • • It is also desirable to have a small current in the aquarium.

As decorations should be used high plants, artificial “underwater locks” and other interior details that can be used as shelters.

Feed Turquoise Iris can be a variety of feed. The ratio of animal and vegetable feed should be approximately equal.

It is also possible to use fortified feed as feed.

Peaceful and active Turquoise Iris, perfectly combined with other types of comparable size and temperament. However, it interferes with overly slow species. Due to the special conditions of maintenance (the need for alkaline hard water), the choice of potential neighbors in the aquarium will be limited.

It is not necessary to combine with other iris to avoid the emergence of hybrid offspring.
The content in the group of at least 6-8 individuals of both sexes. It is noted that in the presence of competitors males are prone to the manifestation of brighter colors in color.

This is one of the ways to attract females.
