Thorns: compatibility with other fish, maintenance of aquarium fish, grooming, species (voileae, albino, caramel, gold, glofish)

Fish belonging to the Kharacin family are popular with aquarists. Ternetsii fishes are peaceful and unpretentious, although they are relatives of piranhas.

Thornia is a small aquarium fish. It grows up to 5.5 cm.

Ternation has a tall and flattened body. Anal fin wide, occupies half of body, dorsal – narrowed.

There is a small fatty fin. Fins are translucent.

In ternets of the common body, three dark vertical stripes run along the silvery body: the first crosses the eye, the second is located at the end of the gill covers, the third – from the beginning of the upper fin to the lower part of the abdomen.

Kharatsinovye live up to 4 years, like many fish of modest size.

The genus of ternsii includes several types and forms:

  • The veil. A veil clerk or mourning is an artificially bred form with long fins, wavy on the sides. The fins look like a black long skirt, which attracts attention to the inhabitants of the aquarium. Difficult to maintain.
  • Albino. Color light, reddish eyes. There are no transverse bands on the body. Rarely meets the veil form.
  • Caramel. It is colored by applying a dye under the skin. The bright color of such individuals disappears quickly. Caramel ternetia live less than their natural counterparts, and have weak immunity. There are different colors: pink, green, blue, red, purple.
  • GloFish is another multicolored variation of the aquarium fish. GloFish transfers the fluorescent color by inheritance. The average life expectancy is the same as that of black thorns. It is stained at the gene level.
  • Golden Light goldfish with silver tint. Bands on the body are missing.
  • Kharatsinovye – unpretentious pets. They do not need specific conditions, as well as a large aquarium.

    Thirsty live in flocks, with a single content quality of life is greatly reduced. The volume of the aquarium for the flocks of terntions of 8 individuals starts from 60 liters. Suitable for decoration:

    Temperature22–26 degrees
    Rigidity5–19 dGh
    Salted waternot
    Water movementweak

    Plant shade plants, leaving free space for swimming:

    Ternets do not eat plants, but use them as shelters. Floating plants create shaded areas.

    Terns live in the upper and middle layers of water, almost without contact with the ground, so choose the soil to your liking. It is desirable that the stones were dark.

    Before placing in the aquarium boil the soil, especially if it was collected in nature. Do not use artificially colored elements.

    A standard set of equipment is required:

  • Filter. Choose a high-performance filter that will not create much water movement. Peat filler will provide the necessary hydrochemical composition of water without the use of air conditioners.
  • Aerator Enriches the water with oxygen so that the inhabitants of the aquarium can breathe.
  • The heater is placed if necessary. In hot weather, equip the aquarium with a cooler or cool the water with bottles or ice packs placed in the aquarium.

    Lighting create moderate. A light day should last no more than 10–12 hours.

    Keep the lamp from overheating.

    Terror is unpretentious to food, omnivorous. Components of the diet:

  • dry food in the form of small flakes;
  • bloodworm;
  • pipemaker;
  • gammarus;
  • daphnia;
  • artemia.
  • Serve frozen and live food. Do not overdo dry food.

    Food must be near the surface of the water so that the ternation can eat it. Feed pets 1–2 times a day in portions, eaten in 3-5 minutes.

    Buying food, check expiration dates. Frozen feeds are not subject to secondary freezing.

    Ternetsii – peaceful and active aquarium fish.

    They get along with species similar in size and character and innocuous catfish:

  • neon;
  • chilias;
  • mollies;
  • danios;
  • chilias;
  • tetras;
  • peaceful barbs;
  • iris iris;
  • corridors;
  • rasborami.
  • The compatibility with holders of voile fins, predators and other large fish is low, the termination is not compatible with the following species:

  • goldfish;
  • cichlids;
  • astronotus;
  • guppy;
  • cockerels.
  • It is easy to breed at home. It is important to provide the necessary care and show increased attention to the fry.

    Determine the gender of the shape of the fins. The dorsal fin of the male is pointed and narrowed, the anal fin narrows closer to the tail.

    Males are slimmer than females and a little smaller.

    Sexual maturity occurs at 8 months of age. Individuals older than 2 years can not spawn. Thorns reproduce in a previously prepared spawning:

  • prepare an aquarium of 15 liters;
  • place mosses and bushes of plants on the bottom;
  • set the temperature to 28 degrees;
  • acidity should be 6-6.5;
  • provide good aeration.
  • 4-5 days before spawning, feed protein protein producers. Plant future parents in spawning.

    In the process of spawning, the male begins to chase the female through the aquarium.

    The female throws up to 1000 eggs. So that parents do not eat caviar, remove the producers from spawning. Keep the heat, treat the water with methylene blue.

    Caviar is incubated for a day, the newly formed larvae swim freely after 72 hours. At this time, start feeding the fry, in their diet should prevail:

  • Artemia nauplii;
  • live dust;
  • frayed feed for adult fish;
  • infusoria.
  • Kharatsinovyh strong health. With the wrong content face standard diseases:

  • Neon disease Accompanied by white areas under the skin, held down by movements. In the advanced stage the spine is bent. Set a sick individual, provide it with good care, then the probability is high that the fish will recover.
  • Oodiniumosis. Introduced with new fish and plants. A golden patina appears on the body, coordination of movements is disturbed, fish itch about decorations and stones. To prevent the disease can create quarantine for new individuals. During the month, keep the fish in a separate aquarium, monitor its condition. Treat the plants in a slightly pink solution of potassium permanganate or water conditioners. Oodiniumosis is treated with blue vitriol with fever.
  • Poisoning. In non-settled tap water, thorns can be poisoned by chlorine. With infrequent cleaning of the aquarium, ammonia poisoning occurs.
  • Tuberculosis. It enters the aquarium with a sick fish. The diseased individual hides, does not eat, the body is deformed. Keep the aquarium clean and periodically inspect the fish.
  • Often, inexperienced aquarists lodge ternations with fish that are inappropriate in nature, which leads to injuries. It has been observed that with a single content, the ternations become aggressive and bite the fins to the neighbors.

    Ternetsia are sold in many stores. The average price for an individual is 175 rubles.

    Ternesia is an interesting aquarium fish that changes color depending on mood. When frightened, the body of the fish is painted dirty silver color.
