Ternesia: content, compatibility, breeding, photo-video review

Fish do not need supernatural conditions of detention. Observance of optimal parameters of aquarium water is the key to their well-being. However, it is worth remembering that:

– Be sure to need aeration and filtration, weekly replacement of up to 1/4 of the volume of aquarium water. If you change the water to them less often than once a week, nothing terrible will happen, the fish are hardy and adapt to any conditions.

And if you have a large aquarium, then the water for terntion can be changed once a month.

– Fish need free space for swimming, if you have a small aquarium, it is better not to densely populate it with plants and select swimming areas.

– Aquarium decoration, can be any: snags, stones, grottoes and other decorations. But since the fishes have a dark color, it is better to decorate the back wall of the aquarium with a lighter background, the ground is also not black.

Shelters (grottoes, caves) are absolutely unnecessary for ternations, sometimes they hide only in the thickets of plants.

Omnivorous – not whimsical in food, not prone to overeating. With pleasure they eat live, dry food, substitutes.

Live and frozen food (bloodworm, artemia, daphnia, etc.) – adore. Food is taken by fish mainly in the middle layer of water.

Fallen to the bottom of the food will also be eaten.

Feeding aquarium fish should be correct: balanced, varied. This fundamental rule is the key to successful keeping of any fish, be it guppies or astronotuses.

Article “How and how much to feed aquarium fish” talks in detail about this, it outlines the basic principles of the diet and feeding regime of fish.

In this article, we note the most important thing – feeding fish should not be monotonous; both dry and live food should be included in the diet. In addition, you need to take into account the gastronomic preferences of a particular fish and, depending on this, include in its diet ration either with the highest protein content or vice versa with vegetable ingredients.

Popular and popular feed for fish, of course, are dry food. For example, hourly and everywhere can be found on the aquarium shelves of food company “Tetra” – the leader of the Russian market, in fact, the range of feeds of this company is striking. In the “gastronomic arsenal” of Tetra are included as individual feeds for a certain type of fish: for goldfish, for cichlids, for loricarids, guppies, labyrinths, arovan, discus, etc.

Also, Tetra has developed specialized foods, for example, for enhancing color, fortified or for feeding fry. Detailed information on all Tetra feeds, you can find on the official website of the company – here.

It should be noted that when buying any dry food, you should pay attention to the date of its production and shelf life, try not to buy food by weight, and also keep the food in a closed state – this will help avoid the development of pathogenic flora in it.

In nature, live:

Area – Brazil, Bolivia: the river Mato Grosso, Rio Paraguay, Rio Negro. They live in ponds with dense vegetation, which is why, if the home aquarium allows, it is better to decorate it with live aquarium plants, and in the center to provide an area for free swimming.

Description:

The body of the termination is flat, the color is silver-striped – 3 black stripes are located across the body. One of the bands passes through the eye.

Fins, except anal – transparent. Anal fin – black fan-shaped. The length of the terration is 4–5 cm.

Females are larger and wider than males, with a fuller belly.

Fish energetic, mobile, schooling. Shy of fear, they can turn pale and hide in a secluded place.

Ternesia has a deep rich color and a compressed body. This fish reaches the size of 5.5 cm in the home aquarium. Life expectancy from 6 to 7 years.

It is distinguished by two vertical stripes, and well-developed dorsal and anal fins. During puberty, the saturated black lines on the body fade.

The body is diamond-shaped, with a silvery sheen.

Black ternation is easy to maintain, perfectly adapts to changes in water parameters, and is an excellent decoration of the general aquarium. This aquarium fish is omnivorous.

In the wild, black tetras feed on worms, small crustaceans and insects, but in captivity they usually eat varieties of live, fresh, and branded products. Crank, Artemia, Cyclops they also love.

See how to keep black thorny in your home aquarium.

Since they are active swimmers, the ternation must inhabit a reservoir of 50 liters per individual. They love soft, peat-filtered water. Fish prefers vegetation cover and dark gravel as a substrate.

As plants, you can choose Javanese moss, cryptocoryne, echinodorus. She also needs an open area to swim freely.

Aquarium should be closed with a lid, because this fish jumps well.

The content of the black tetra is possible only in pure water. An aquarium is a closed system that requires meticulous care. Over time, organic substances decompose, nitrates and phosphates accumulate, increasing the water hardness.

Therefore, water should be replaced regularly (25% of the total) once a week. Aeration and filtration are required.

Aquarium Lighting: Moderate

Temperature: 21 to 26 ° C

Dilution temperature: 27 to 29 ° C

PH range: 6.0-8.0

Stiffness range: 3-30 dgH

Salinity: does not like salted water

Water flow: moderate

Swimming area: this fish will swim in all layers of water.

Ternesia is an active fish, and can be aggressive to the tail and small fish. Not recommended content alone.

In large groups, optimal compatibility. Each fish will focus on each other, and not on smaller fish.

Compatibility in the general aquarium is possible with fish of similar sizes. With age they become calmer.

Ternetia gets along well with the majority of viviparous, danios, rassori, other tetras, the peaceful inhabitants of water bodies, as well as some dwarf cichlids.

Like most aquarium fish, tetra is prone to scale diseases, parasitic invasions (protozoa, worms, etc.), ichthyoftorosis, and bacterial infections (common). The black tetra is extremely hardy, and the disease does not appear if you provide quality aquarium maintenance and care.

Remember that raw soil and scenery, new fish can be a source of disease. Make sure that all new fish have passed quarantine, and that the water balance in the aquarium is not disturbed.

The aquarium fish, terne caramel, came to us from the rivers of Paraguay and Argentina just recently in 1993. She got acclimatized in the new environment, reproduces well, and it is not difficult to care for her.

A small guest from the Western Hemisphere, the owner of a small – from four to five centimeters – egg-shaped body, compressed laterally, her eyes are yellow. On the back there is a high short membrane fin, and at the tail – fat and small.

From the middle of the belly of the caramel goes anal fin.

The nature has dressed caramel thorn in olive-green outfit. Black stripes with wide corners picked up the main coloring. One dark band goes through the eyes, the other through the gills, and the third rises to the dorsal fin.

The pectoral fins of a foreign fish, as well as its tail, are transparent white. The anal and spinal are quite dark.

It should be noted, breeders have tried: today, red and veil varieties of caramels have been bred.

To distinguish between “boys” and “girls”, you need to look at the tail – in the males it is white at the end. In addition, female caramel fish are larger than males and slightly lighter.

The young aquarium fish, ternetium caramel, is distinguished by a brighter color contrast, and black stripes are clearer. With age, the color fades, but during the breeding season caramel thistle blooms again.

Why is the second name stuck to the Latin American caramel? Ternetia caramel – an albino colored aquarium fish, which is injected with a solution of water with fluorescent dyes. The solution enters the bloodstream, which spreads the paint to the muscles and completely changes their color.

Sometimes even fins get a shade. Then the newly-made caramel is released into clean water, where she begins to get used to life in a new outfit.

Unfortunately, these painted water creatures do not last long. Yes, and with the reproduction of colorful fry does not work.

Fish aquarium ternatsiya: princess of the underwater kingdom

The aquarium fish, ternetia, is from the family of haracin. Its habitat in the wild – South America, more precisely, the rivers Rio Negru and Paraguay.

In their homeland fish belong to the category of predators. They were brought to Europe a relatively long time ago – in 1933. A very unpretentious habitat and, unlike its wild relatives, a peace-loving, aquarium fish, the terniya enjoys well-deserved love among admirers of the inhabitants of the underwater kingdom.

Because of its undemanding nature, it is ideal for novice aquarists for breeding.

Ternations grow up to five centimeters in length. They have a high body, as if crushed from the sides, the shape of which somewhat resembles a rhombus. The back of the fish has a green-olive color.

On the brilliant silver scales of the body there are three vertical stripes of black color, and the first of them cuts the fish eye in half, as it were. The aquarium fish also has a “special sign”. Her anal fin has the shape of a skirt.

For this, razvodchiki often called terniyu fashionistas.

Recently, a peculiar tendency has appeared – to carry out artificial coloring of albino fish. With the help of various dyes, they are given bright shades, as a result of which a new species has appeared – the aquarium fish, the caramel termination.

True, this feature is not inherited, moreover, almost 90% of the colored individuals acquire their natural color after time.

What conditions are really considered optimal for the content of ternsii? Since this fish is a schooling fish, then for 8-10 individuals a reservoir of at least 80 liters is required. Terence likes warm water, so the temperature must be constantly maintained at +26 degrees.

If we talk about the level of rigidity, then the optimal indicator is 18 units. Acidity is necessary to maintain in the range of 6-7 pH.

Demanding termination and oxygen, and therefore the tank must be equipped with devices for artificial aeration of water. The bottom in the aquarium should be sandy, and the plants and decorations should be seated and arranged so that the fish have free space for swimming.

The best neighbors of thorns are considered catfish, guppies, gourami, petilles and scalar.

As for feeding the fish, then the owner of the aquarium will have no problems with this. Despite its predatory nature, ternation can well do with dry and high-quality artificial food.

True, this fish will not refuse from the bloodworm, the pipe worker, the Cyclops, and both in live and frozen form.

Reproduction of the offspring of termination is ready from eight months, but the average lifespan (under appropriate conditions) is about four years.

Still, the aquarium fish is amazingly beautiful. The photos given in the article clearly demonstrate their extraordinary appeal.

And unpretentiousness and friendly disposition make these fish the desirable inhabitants of any aquarium.

Ternesia has several names, in particular, mourning or black tetra.

The homeland of this fish is South America, and more specifically, the flowing and slowly flowing rivers of Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil. In natural conditions, this fish reaches 6 cm, but in aquarium breeding conditions it usually grows up to 4-5 cm. transition to dark gray, almost black.

The back is yellowish-olive. Juveniles are darker than adults. It has three distinct black vertical stripes: the first passes directly through the eye, the second frames the gill covers, the third at the base of the pectoral fin.

Mature ternation has a graceful body shape, rather high, laterally compressed, not too long, diamond-shaped. Clearly marked full sideline.

The eyes are large, with a yellowish-brown shell, in the abdominal part of the body there is a mouth. The fins of this fish deserve special attention.

There are two dorsal fins in the terniatia: one is membrane, high and short, the second is fatty, small, without axial rays. The presence of a second dorsal fin attached at the base of the tail is one of the characteristic features of this fish.

The pectoral fin is two; the anal fin begins in the middle of the abdomen and ends at the base of the tail. The pectoral fins and tail are transparent to white, while the dorsal and anal fin are dark, almost black.

The second and main feature for the fish of ternia is the anal fin, which looks like a black open mourning fan, for which it was called the mourning tetra.

In the food, this fish is absolutely unpretentious, almost any kind of food will do: dry, vegetable, combined, live. Restrictions exist only for feeding fry.

The fish is very peace-loving, belongs to the category of schooling, the content of 6-8 or more individuals is recommended, remaining alone, can become aggressive. Mourning tetra does not require for its content very large aquariums, but preferably not less than 20 liters with a temperature of 20-26 ° C and a pH of 6.0 – 7.5 with a large number of water thickets.
