RAINBOW TABLE OF CONTENTS AND CARE

Content of the iris Various species of iris are found in lakes, swamps, mountain or forest streams, in fresh water bodies, as well as in brackish water bodies because of the proximity of the ocean. The averaged parameters of water were determined, where any iris would feel comfortable: water temperature is from 22 to 28 degrees, a neutral acidity index (pH 6.5-7.5).

Water hardness can vary: from extremely soft to hard (10 – 16 units). Water is recommended weekly to replace about a quarter. The volume of the aquarium – at least 50 liters.

For the good health of the fish in the aquarium, you must install a filtration and aeration system. Care should be taken also about high-grade lighting.

The irises are schooling fish, so you should start at least 6 individuals at once. They lead a fairly active lifestyle, for this they need sufficient space.

Therefore, do not occupy a large aquarium space with plants and decorative elements. In the course of active games, the fish can jump out of the water high enough, so the aquarium should be covered from above

Feeding Raduzhnytsi

Feeding Irises do not impose special nutritional requirements. They eat good food live, frozen or dry. In the preparation of the diet should follow a balance.

It should be remembered that the predominance of dry feed can provoke various diseases. From live food, all types of iris irons perfectly eat the shrubber, small bloodworms, small crustaceans, and insects.

Be sure to include in the diet of vegetable feed, otherwise the iris will nibble aquatic plants.

Does the diet of the iris change depending on the season?

The answer right away is yes! An important factor is that the feeding of iris in nature is distinguished by seasonal signs.

What does it mean? In wildlife there are two seasons for fish: the season of drought and rain.

Thus, during a drought, they eat more plant foods. During the rains, on the contrary – it is “meat” food. What is the reason?

In the rainy season, life in the water becomes more active, more insects, fish fry, crustaceans and others appear. That is, it turns out that during a drought, the iris eats more vegetable food, and during the rainy season, rich in proteins, “meat”.

Especially this important fact needs to be taken into account if you are trying to get your fish to start spawning, since reproduction occurs only during the rains.

Reproduction of the iris

Reproduction of the three-strip iris The iris depends on the nutrition and conditions of the sex of the puberty fish in 6-12 months. At the same time, the fish can spawn both in general and in a separate aquarium. In order to reproduce the iris three-band, the parameters of the water must meet the following standards: water hardness – 2-16 °, pH 6.0-7.8; water temperature is 25-28 ° С.

Manufacturers select the most well-fed and bright. Spawning can be stimulated by raising the temperature of the water by two degrees and its frequent substitution. If spawning does not take place in the general aquarium, the fish-producers are kept separately for 7 days and strongly fed with live food.

The female of the three-striped iris irks spawns and lays in small portions on the leaves of the plants for one month. In total, during this time, the female throws out about 1000 eggs. Caviar should be transferred every five days to a special incubator with a water level of 15 cm and with the same water parameters as in the spawn.

On the 5th-7th day, the fry of the three-strip iris begin to swim and feed independently. Starter feed for fry is live dust.

At the age of one month, the color of the young becomes brighter. As you can see, no special effort is required to maintain a three-band iris, therefore we recommend that you have this beauty in your aquarium.
