Psevdotrofeus demasoni: compatibility, maintenance and cultivation of tsikhli

Cichlids are characterized by incredible mobility and curiosity, but they are no less attracted by their beautiful appearance. Care for these creatures is easy and simple.

They do not require much attention. Cichlid pseudotropheus demasoni (lat. Pseudotropheus demasoni) has a bright blue body.

Under natural conditions, lives in Lake Malawi, which is located in Africa, prefers rocky areas and reservoirs, in which there are rocks.

Demasoni is capable of attacking even fish that are far superior in size.

The length of the body of these fish is about 6.8 cm, the head is torpedo-shaped. It is noteworthy that in the first 60 days of life, females and males are very similar to each other, therefore, it is very difficult to determine the sex.

Despite their miniature size, these individuals are quite aggressive, so it is not recommended to keep more than 2 fish in one tank. In the pack, the dominant male will always be determined, who will attack the opponents and injure them.

Demasoni cichlids like to swim around stones, swim in caves and stay there for a long time.

Due to their curiosity, the fish manage to explore everything that surrounds them, down to the smallest detail. The more stones in the aquarium, various shelters and decorative pots, the more comfortable these creatures feel.

They float in a rather original way: now upside down, now sideways, then just hanging in the water column. It is noteworthy that demasonian fishes are considered vegetarians, i.e. they consume only vegetable food.

The color is bright, consists of alternating bands of dark blue and blue colors.

The maintenance and cultivation of demason is connected with certain nuances. Active and aggressive – it would be possible to briefly characterize these fish.

In total, there are 12 kinds of them. They are distinguished by good health, and therefore they rarely get sick. At the same time, injuries are often found, as they like to fight each other.

If the specimens are damaged, you can put salt water or methylene blue in water.

These fish live up to a maximum of 10 years. Cichlids behave in much the same way as sea fish when they try to recognize a smell.

For this, individuals take water into the nasal openings and hold it for some time inside.

The compatibility of pseudo-tropheus demasoni is quite problematic. Do not keep them together with other inhabitants of the reservoir.

Cichlids can attack even those neighbors that are much larger than them.

The best option is to place a male and a female in an aquarium. Another possible solution is to settle them with mbunas (also cichlids) of other colors.

They can coexist, but only if the bottom is rocky. Demasoni necessarily requires a personal space.

The weekly replacement of a part of water for fresh is also of key importance.

These creatures are incompatible with fish that have similar body color. If it is not possible to land a male and a female in an aquarium, you can place them in groups of 10 individuals, but the male should always be only one. At the bottom you can lay:

If possible, create artificial caves, grottoes. Capacity with fish should have a capacity of 200 liters. Water can be fresh, but it is better if it is brackish, then individuals will feel comfortable.

Other conditions requirements:

  • temperature regime – 24−28 degrees;
  • pH pH – 7.5−8.6;
  • lighting is moderate.

Of great importance is the filtration of water. It is necessary to change it in a timely manner. To ensure an optimum level of rigidity, Arcanite sand, marble and coral chips are used.

Pisces like jewels made of stones.

Content psevdotrofeusov Demasoni suggests proper feeding. They are not predators, therefore vegetable foods should be offered to them. The basis of them are scalded lettuce leaves, algae, aquarium plants.

Also suitable nettle leaves and dandelion. Lettuce leaves must be boiled with boiling water., cool and press the stone to the bottom. Fish are not always interested in the food offered to them.

You must immediately pull out the food if the fish did not want to eat it. Until the next morning, leave it is not necessary.

There are only two ways to keep these fish in the aquarium.

Cichlid requires protein and food. Its sources will be daphnia and cyclops. It is not necessary to offer the choke, the bloodworm and the pipeker, as they are high-calorie.

Plant feed should be approximately 70%, and animals – no more than 30%. It is also important to feed the individuals in small portions several times a day.

Poor quality food is unacceptable, as it is possible to provoke diseases. To avoid pathological conditions, you should check the water parameters regularly. It can accumulate nitrites, nitrates, ammonia.

It is necessary to treat the fish only after the water indicators are normalized.

On the bottom lay out a few flat stones. They are necessary to fish laid caviar here.

Once individuals reach a size of 2.5 cm, they can be considered ready for reproduction. This happens at about six months of age.

Breeding is possible in the artificial environment of the species aquarium.

During spawning, the male becomes quite aggressive. After laying eggs (5−15 pieces), the female collects them in the mouth, where fertilization takes place.

Caviar stays here until fry appear.

Young animals can be fed with crushed flakes and cyclops. Even young individuals show aggression towards older brothers, and therefore it is better to plant them as early as possible.
