Pearls are very sensitive to lack of oxygen, so you need to choose a long spacious aquarium, equipped with a filter and aerator. For one fish need an area of 10-15 liters.
Friendly and quiet individuals can be neighbors of a goldfish, because the pearl has a spherical shape and considerable size and moves more slowly, so that it can remain without food. Once a week you need to change a third or a quarter of the water, the temperature can vary from 18 to 22 degrees. As the soil, choose coarse sand or gravel, you can keep in the aquarium and snails.
Algae should be with a well-developed root system, the pH in the tank – from 6.0 to 8.0. Feed the fish can be dry, fresh or frozen food.

It is possible to plant pearls in a spawning area of 20-30 liters; small-leaved plants and sandy soil are placed in it. They plant a female and two males, before that they are kept separately and well fed. Stimulation to spawning is a rise in temperature from 24 degrees and above.
The female throws the eggs, the males fertilize them, after which the producers are deposited from the spawn and wait until the fry hatch. You can feed them with special food, Artemia nauplis, infusoria, rotifers.
- Since pearls are artificially bred, they may have problems with immunity, most often fish suffer from digestive diseases;
- If the fish damages its nacreous scales, then an ordinary one grows instead of it and the pearl seems peeled;
- The pearl was bred by breeders from China, appeared in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century, it was called the “golf ball” because of its unusual shape.
