Opal Battle: A Guide to Proper Content

By its color and appearance, the opal battle is very similar to the Thai battle of Zora, but the body of the hero of our article today is more bendable, the eyes are black, the nose is longer and the size is twice as large. The best specimens can grow up to 15 centimeters in length, while a relative of Chora has a standard length of about 7 centimeters.

The first attempts to maintain opal scoria in domestic aquariums date back to 1996. The party was brought from Laos. After half a year, the fish could already be distinguished by gender.

With a high water temperature in the aquarium (28 – 32 degrees), these fighters show high activity and regularly spawn. The problem is that it is far from always possible to bring the matter to natural spawning.

Gonadotropic stimulation should be carried out only after the egg-laying in females. The optimal and effective dose ranges from 50 to 80 and. e. Very often, aquarists have come across the fact that a lot of roe was overripe and deformed. As a rule, the first portions of caviar as a result of decanting have to be rejected.

The fecundity of females of the opal battle is about 2-4 thousand eggs. The duration of the incubation period is 16 – 20 hours.

Nauplii of diaptomus and red rotifers are considered the most optimal type of starter feed. With high skills of growing different types of aquarium fish, young opal scoria can be raised with the help of powdered mixtures. Fry, unfortunately, are growing extremely unevenly: some individuals may have a floor of half a centimeter by the month of their life, and some have already grown a centimeter and more.

In the process of nursing fry, a solution of trypaflavin or methylene blue should be added to the aquarium water, taking into account the proportion of 0.2-0.5 mg / l.

In the process of growing up, Botia pseudohorae become quite cocky. Accordingly, it is not recommended to contain them with small haracin ones, it is better to choose fish that are able to stand up for themselves.

Their size should be about the same as that of the fighting, and maybe a little larger. When transferring fish from one aquarium to another, do not forget that the fighters have sharp spines that are under the eyes and in calm conditions they are folded.

Opal bocia is considered a resistant and durable aquarium fish that can perfectly feel in small aquariums of 20–30 liters with an active response of 6–8 pH and a hardness of 2–25 dGH. In aquarium conditions, the lifespan of fish is about 10 years with good living conditions and proper balanced nutrition.

When fish get used to their master, they can take food directly from the hands of an aquarist.
