New cichlid species that are rarely found in our aquariums

Good day, dear colleagues. In today’s article, I would like to discuss with you some types of cichlids, which are rarely found in aquariums of fans, about which not to tell would be blasphemy.

Lampscholog Bucher was first described Wolfgang Stack in 1983. This cichlid dwells in the southern part of the great lake Tanganyika, where it prefers to stay near the stone slabs and dense thickets of ridges.

The fish does not like deep water, so it rarely dives deeper than 10 meters.

For the first time the fish was brought into the territory of the Union in 1988 in Moscow, but to this day these fish are very rare. The problem is that the neolamprologus busher is extremely problematic in culture: the fish needs careful handling, it is very demanding to the conditions of maintenance (stable chemical parameters) and extremely urgently reacts to the presence of medicines and toxins in the aquarium.

The standard length of a fish is 6 – 8 centimeters, but there are cases when in nature a fish grows up to 12 centimeters. Unlike females, males have teeth and a more slender body, and sapphire coloring with a touch of coffee.

Another reason why the fish does not enjoy wide popularity among domestic aquarists is an ill-tempered and quarrelsome character. Peaceful coexistence of fish with other inhabitants of the aquarium safely ends when the cichlid reaches 8 months of age, after which the fish spill predatory inclinations.

The puberty neolamprologusus reaches puberty at the age of one and a half years. However, it is impossible to judge the success of breeding, as this process requires high qualifications from the aquarist. In order to successfully propagate the fish, it is better to use species aquariums of several types.

If a harem variant is used, then at least 3 females should fall on one male. Shelters in spawning should be tiered.
If you carry out a group spawning, in which about 10 to 15 fish are involved, the aquarium should be stretched in length. In this case, the recommended spawning dimensions are as follows: 150 × 40×40 centimeters, where local clutter of stones must be present, near which each individual group of fish will dwell.

As an “antidepressant”, you can use fast-growing long-stemmed plants (hygrophil multi-seed or ollisneria spiral), due to which the fish will behave more calmly.

Each male patrols only his own territory, where he selects a girlfriend for himself. Spawning, as a rule, proceeds covertly from the aquarist’s eyes, and the presence of caviar is predicted by frequent visits by the male burrow, which ventilates the clutch. Small cream eggs, as a rule, are scattered on the substrate, and the maximum fecundity of females does not exceed 5 dozen eggs.

You can also try to conduct step spawning of the male and several females. But, in this case, hatching of larvae can last up to 70 hours.

More or less decent results in dilution are obtained if you provide artificial incubation of caviar with a separate container with high-quality filtration and aeration.

The first feed of the fry can be given 10 – 12 days after spawning. It is not advisable to keep neolamprologus fry of different sizes in the same container, as the chance of manifestation of cannibal inclinations increases.

It is also not recommended to keep fry about a centimeter in length together with parents in the same aquarium. The Neu-Lamprologus of the Buchera is fairly easy to learn to animal feed, but most of all fish like insect larvae to eat. In the case of frequent feeding with bloodworms, the fish may form chronic constipation and edema and powder scales.

In the future, if you do not change the diet, fish can suddenly die.

When transporting cichlids from a store to a home aquarium, you need to add a small pinch of drinking soda and methylene blue to the water. It is best to acquire individuals whose body length is not less than 3 centimeters.

The normal and active lifespan of a cichlid is no more than 5 years.

One of the most beautiful Malachian cichlids in the list is the “concord”. In order to avoid confusion, it is worth quoting a couple of old names – Cirtocara linni and Haplochromis linni.

In this case, these two names are synonymous. The first attempts to export the nibic lominae of the linn were recorded in 1973, but then this fish was confused with a variety of leopard haplochromis, the fry of which practically do not differ.

The fish was brought to the territory of the Soviet Union in 1984. Unlike leopard haplohrom, N.linni is distinguished by less physical activity, weak competitiveness and low fertility. Under normal conditions, the body length of fish is about 15 centimeters, but the maximum recorded length is about 30 centimeters.

Females are smaller than males and have a brown color. Males are bluish-green with embossed golden edging and spots on unpaired fins. During the spawning period, the belly acquires anthracite tones.

The young and females of brown shade, and when carotenoid pigment is added to the aquarium water, they change color to brownish-red tones. To enhance the color of fish, it is necessary to temper cichlids in the form of lowering the temperature to 18 degrees.

The first attempts at spawning a cichlid are made at the age of a year, but more or less stable results are obtained after another 6 to 12 months.

To multiply tightened manufacturers need a 100-liter capacity. If you are trying to breed a flock of fish, which consists of several males and up to 10 females, the aquarium should be more spacious. As companions, concordas are hooked up with misdemeanors, melanotenias, poptells, or alestide.

Spawning fish near the bottom of the reservoir, because they love peace and quiet. The reason for this feature is that in case of fright, the fish can leave behind a bunch of unfertilized eggs.

The maximum fecundity of females does not exceed 100 eggs. The size of the eggs directly depends on the conditions in which the producers were contained.

Large females are capable of throwing 4 millimeter caviar, which may be incomplete. Successful spawning can only be called if you received from 30 to 40 fry at a time.

Caviar can be artificially incubated. If you want to decant the female, then for this operation you will have to put a lot of effort, since this operation requires professional skills.

The catch of females with caviar is carried out with a large net. A week after the aforementioned execution, the water temperature is raised to 27 degrees.

But it is necessary to grow a lampurologist with a constant check, as the young cichlids are susceptible to various infusorial lesions and ichthyobiasis. Outwardly, we see symptoms in the form of dystrophy and sloping jaws.

As a rule, the restoration of the fins is almost unreal idea.

The ideal starting food is rotifers, artemia, cyclops and other small acarium foods. But the pipe maker to feed the fish is undesirable, since even a thoroughly washed pipe maker is capable of causing the development of ciliates.

Adults eat almost everything, and their daily diet consists of animal and vegetable feed. Cichlid is also not against eating small fish, but because of laziness, this happens very rarely.

The maximum life expectancy is about 8 years.
