Minor has a memorable appearance: its body is divided by a dark longitudinal stripe, the color of the upper torso is olive-brown, with a greenish sheen.
Abdomen and sides – bright red. Small specks can be seen on the gill covers and dorsal fin, and a white border runs along the tip of the dorsal fin.
All fins are bright red. Males have a more saturated color than females.

The body of the minors is slender, flattened laterally and elongated. A characteristic feature of the representatives of this family is a quadrangular dorsal fin, which stands vertically; it may have an elongated shape.
At the base of the fin there is no scales, the abdomen of females is more rounded.
Minora – schooling fish, they can be kept in a species or general aquarium. They do not require a very large tank – from 30 liters, but at the same time there should be enough space for swimming, and it would be good to take care of shelters: thickets of plants and snags must be present in the tank.
The decrease in color saturation suggests that the conditions of detention are not suitable for them.

Temperature range can vary from 22 to 26 degrees, water hardness – up to 8, acidity 6.8-7.0. Be sure to equip the aquarium with an aerator and filter, the soil is desirable dark – on its background fish look best. As feed, you can offer fish dry granulated flakes, bloodworms, small insects, crustaceans, enchitreus.
For spawning minors, an aquarium of 6-7 liters is taken with a separator net at the bottom and several small-leaved plants. Lighting should be weak, in the ground there is no need. The female and the male are divided separately about a week before landing in the spawn.
After spawning, the producers need to be planted, after 2 days the larvae appear, and after a few days the fry begin to swim – they are fed with nauplii, infusoria, rotifers.
