Micro spotting spotted (Boraras maculatus) – content, breeding

Micro spotting spotted (Boraras maculatus) It was introduced to Europe more than 100 years ago, but was not widely spread among aquarists.

Habitat: lives in ponds, small outflows and flowing waters of the Malay Peninsula, in Singapore and on the island of Sumatra.

Description: The body of the spotted micro-assembly is long, elongated. Color can be different shades of red.

The back is brownish, the chest is silvery-yellow, the sides are red-yellow, and the belly is light yellow.

Under the rays of fluorescent lamps fish cast purple.

Near the gill covers there is a large dark spot, at the base of the fins – dorsal and anal – smaller purple spots, dorsal fin with two dark stripes.

Females differ from males in a more convex abdomen, yellowish color and transparent fins. Males have reddish anal fin with black edging.

Tiny nano-fishes do not grow more than 2.5 cm.

Arrangement and parameters of the aquarium: A spotted micro-assembly is advisable to contain a flock of 10-15 fish.

The aquarium should be filled with dense thickets of plants, which together with snags serve as an excellent shelter for fish.

The spotted micro-sampling is very sensitive to the chemical composition of water and its changes, therefore, it is impossible to launch fish into a biologically immature aquarium. Water is needed old, very soft, preferably peaty.

The lighting is muffled and diffused; for this purpose, plants floating on the surface are suitable.

In nature, the spotted micro-sampling lives in slow-flowing waters, so filtration should be moderate.

Despite the tiny size of the fish, they need a place free for swimming, the dominant male forms the territory on it.

Water parameters: 24-27 ° C, pH 5.5-7, dH 4-10.

Spotted micro disassembly (Boraras maculatus) gets on well with other nano-fish, haracin and shrimps. Peaceful existence is possible with the micro-assembly of the galaxy, the micro-assembly of the erythromicron, gourami, corridors.

Without fear, you can settle as innocuous chainmail catfish neighbors.

Nutrition: in nature, the micro spotted species feed on zooplankton, worms and small insects. In the aquarium, it takes small frozen and live food: cyclops, daphnia, artemia.

Live food in combination with high-quality dry enhances the color of the fish and promote spawning.

Reproduction: The spotted micro-collection spawns continuously and under favorable conditions in the aquarium the fry can appear without human intervention, but in this case there is a great risk of their death.

To stimulate the spawning of producers keep separate for several weeks. Then 1-2 pairs are placed in a spawning volume of 3-6 liters with a temperature of 26-28 ° C. The light should be muffled, small-leaved plants.

The female lays 30-200 eggs, after which both producers settle out. Larvae hatch after a day, and after four swim.

At the initial stage, microscopic food will be suitable: ciliates or rotifers, then Artemia nauplii, Cyclops.

Small fishes grow rapidly and by 2-3 months already become sexually mature.

Micro spotting spotted (Boraras maculatus) – an ideal fish for keeping in miniature nano-aquariums.
