Mesonouta cychlastoma: photo, content and breeding conditions

Dear colleagues. Mesonout cichlinoma is an interesting representative of the Cichlov family. In nature, it is found in the overgrown water bodies of the northern regions of South America from Gaina for Argentina.

Very often, this aquarium fish falls into the aquarium lovers of the underwater kingdom.

In tsikhlazomy flattened and elongated body. The head is large, the eyes are large and the lips are thick.

The dorsal and anal fins are elongated, the ventral fin is filiform. On the lemon-olive body of the fish there are a number of dark openwork strokes that resemble a network pattern. The entire length of the body of the fish go black wide stripe.

This cichlasome has one interesting feature: it can change its color to golden-lemon and can change the color of its fins. Depending on mood and light intensity, the fins may become copper-red. The tail of the cichlasome has a yellow border and a dark spot on the base.

Gill covers and head are decorated with green touches. The main distinctive feature of males from females is their size. Males have larger dimensions and may be up to 20 centimeters in length.

In captivity, the fish can live up to 12 years.

Meshonal Cychlase is famous for its peace-loving nature and jumping ability. It is not recommended that fish be subjected to stressful conditions, since this adversely affects their health.

Experienced aquarists advise to keep these fish in small groups of 4-5 individuals. Tsikhlazomu can be kept in the same aquarium with peaceful tropical fish.

The mesonout is mostly kept near the middle or upper water layers. For the successful maintenance of tsikhlovy you need an aquarium of at least 100 liters per pair of fish. Organize enough shelters of stones, koryag and thickets of live aquarium plants.

The grass should be with dense leaves, as more gentle fellows will go to food. The water in the aquarium should have the following parameters:

  • rigidity: no more than 15;
  • active reaction: 6.0 – 7.0p;
  • temperature: 25-30 degrees.

In addition, be sure to install a filter with aeration and every week replace up to of the water to fresh. Mesonauts tsikhlazoma can eat both dry and frozen with live food.

Also in the diet of fish you need to add vegetable food, namely spinach, lettuce and dandelion.

In 10 months of life, the mezonaut cichlasoma becomes sexually mature. For reproduction, you will need a capacity of 100 liters of volume and thickly plant it with plants. Echinodus bush or oak-like fern can be planted as landscaping.

As an aquarium substrate, you can use flat stones and ceramic pots. Water in spawning should have the following parameters:

  • water temperature: 27-30 degrees;
  • active reaction environment: 6.3 – 6.5 pH;
  • hardness: 2-3 degrees.
  • It is also very important to organize round-the-clock aeration.

For spawning, it is necessary to select a pair of producers that are capable of reproducing up to 2,000 eggs during spawning. The incubation period takes 3 days.

Starter feed for young animals – live dust and micro-feed. The youngsters develop quickly enough, but females are a little late in growth.

In order for your tsikhlazomy to have kasivy and decorative vie, producers should not be planted to spawn more often 5-6 times a year.
