Hello, friends. Finally, I got to write a post about my favorite type of guram – marble gourami.
I do not know about the rest, but I like this particular type the most. As for me, it looks more beautiful, and the color coloring perfectly complements the overall interior of the aquarium, which is usually dominated by green and red tones.
Like the pearl gourami, the marble gouram are a calm and graceful aquarium fish. Marble guest can be ranked boldly to unpretentious aquarium fish, just like macropods, lyalius and swordsman.
Successfully caring for this fish will be even under the strength of a novice and inexperienced aquarist.
The fish is calm, with other peaceful neighbors will get along in an aquarium of any size without any problems and difficulties. Under good conditions and feeding, marble gourami can grow up to 14 centimeters in length. The body is high, oval with beautiful fins.
Male differs from female in more acute form of fins and narrow body. The fish got its name due to an interesting coloring: there are dark stripes and specks on a gray background.
The tail of the fish is dotted with small yellow spots.
Successfully contain marble guramku possible in an aquarium of 50 liters with the following water parameters:
acidity – 6-7 pH;
water temperature – +22. +27 degrees;
hardness – 6-15 dH
This type of guramka breathes atmospheric air, as it has a special respiratory labyrinth, which releases carbon dioxide from the blood in special tanks under the operculum and saturates it with oxygen. Well, since such an alignment, there must be an air gap in the tank where you keep this fish, as it needs to periodically float and breathe.
Be sure to cover the aquarium with a cover glass, or else it will jump out one fine moment.
Guramka does not need additional aeration and filtration of the aquarium, but they still like cleanliness. You can’t do without a filter anyway, as other types of fish require constant filtration. Regularly clean the aquarium, replace it with fresh water.
Do not forget about good illumination and an adequate length of daylight – about 12 hours.
Basically, the marble goura is kept in the upper or middle layers of the aquarium, so it is easier to take another breath and pick up food from the surface. The fish is omnivorous, so you can feed both dry food and animal food.
From live food, the marble guram loves bloodworms, daphnia, tubule, artemia. As a dry food, you can use Gammarus and Cyclops, and vegetable food – lettuce leaves.
Plant a large number of aquarium plants in the aquarium, and place beautiful snags on the aquarium soil (in them the females will hide from the excessive grooming of the males).
As neighbors, you can use both peace-loving fish and predators, but if they are no more than a few times themselves gurus, and then they gobble up and do not twist. As peaceful neighbors you can use ternsii, girinohaylus, red neon, rhodostomusa.
Fish can spawn both in the general aquarium and in spawning. For spawning use a can of a volume of 30 liters, which make the water temperature a few degrees higher than in the general aquarium.
The male makes a nest of bubbles, where the female lays the eggs, which the male places in his mouth and gently lays it in the nest.
As soon as the female brushes away all the spawn, she is removed from the spawning ground and the male takes care of the future offspring. After two days, the larvae will appear from the eggs, and after another 4 days – already full fry. It is very important not to miss this moment and remove the father from the aquarium, as they will hand over all the youngsters.
At first, small things are fed with rotifers and infusoria.
Marble gourami sufficiently stable fish to various diseases. They can easily catch a cold because of the negligence of the owner.
If the cold air in the room and the fish swallow it, then the disease is provided. With good conditions, a guram in aquarium conditions can live for a long time – about 7 years.
