In the family of bindlings, the marble battle (lohakat) occupies one of the prominent places. This is an original fish, which is often chosen by amateurs of the underwater world in their aquariums. The silver color with dark vertical stripes makes it look like a marble one, and the bluish shimmering color acquired over time gives a special charm.
The strips often merge, forming on the body of a figure similar to the English letters YO. This was used by English fish lovers – they gave it a second name – YoYo Loach.
India and Pakistan are considered the birthplace of the YoYo Loach, although the colors of the “representatives” of different countries may differ significantly. She lives in reservoirs with stagnant water; the cleaner and more transparent, the better.
He does not like bright sunshine, and in general is nocturnal. In this regard, the reservoir should be with a rocky bottom, to have many cracks and snags.
Externally, the fish does not look weak. Her body is elastic, in a shape resembling a torpedo.
The abdomen is flattened, the back, on the contrary, is arched. The front end ends sharply.
The mouth is located below and surrounded by a mustache (there are at least four pairs).
Under the eyes there are specific bone formations – spikes, designed to protect against the enemy in emergency situations. During the period of danger they bulge out and become clearly visible.
Such spikes can play a negative role at the time of catching fish – it does not cost anything to catch them on the net cell and get a head injury).
An interesting feature is to swim with your belly up – this is the position occupied by combat in a dream or during stressful situations, which frightens its owners a lot.
In nature, it can grow up to 20 cm, but it does not spoil the owners of aquarists. Up to 10 cm – its usual size.

Marble botsiya – representative of aquarium fish, which does not like to live alone. A flock of 5-6 individuals is the most suitable content.
Therefore, you need an aquarium with a size of 150 liters. Only in such conditions it will be fun and carefree, will please the eye with its extraordinary coloring.
Under stress (a small amount of water, too bright light, the presence of impurities in the aquarium), the lohakata can change its color and lose its attractiveness. For a long time in such conditions, she will not be able to live.
He loves to hide in the crack and watch from there. Therefore, in the aquarium it is necessary to create for this the presence of appropriate environment.
Individuals living alone, almost all the time will be sitting in such nooks and swim only at night.
Given the bottom life, waking hours at night and interest in everything that happens around, the fish requires:
- Soil with small and medium forming elements;
- The absence of sharp corners and rough surfaces in the aquarium;
- Strong aeration, but not turning into a strong current;
- Diffused dim lighting;
- Efficient water filtration;
- Weekly change of water at least 30% of the volume.
The optimum water temperature is 25-28 ° C, during the breeding season – a few degrees higher.
The bottom character of habitat causes the habit of picking up food from the bottom. The fish rarely rises in the middle and upper layers of the water and never feeds on floats floating above.
Therefore, it is wiser, especially for its content, to choose food that does not immediately become limp in the water.
At the same time, the fight itself will be glad to any food. It feeds on both living organisms (pipe shaker, bloodworm, snails, minced fish) and vegetable feed (cucumber, lettuce, zucchini, zucchini, celery).
Do not give up frozen options.
This type of food “at hand” the whole biocenosis of the aquarium:
- This kind of cleaning when settled food is picked up from the bottom, creating a threat of rotting;
- Regulation of the number of snails and other small inhabitants who breed in an unnecessary amount (the fish will be busy eating them as long as they are in their field of vision);
- Control of excessive growth of aquatic plants (feeding on young shoots, the combat fills up a deficiency of microelements and vitamins, gets the chemical compounds necessary for life.
Feed must not be given indefinitely. If it is present, YoYo will eat constantly, dooming itself to problems with digestion.
In addition, the diet must be balanced: one type of food will not be able to fill all biological needs and ensure healthy livelihoods.
Reproduction in vitro combat marble marble until recently was considered impracticable. Today there are cases of reproduction of offspring “in captivity,” but success in such an issue, even with all due diligence, does not always come.
On special farms, offspring is carried out by introducing special hormones. It is even easier to catch fry in nature and preserve their viability until the moment of sale.
Theoretically multiply lohakata will be as follows:
The pair chosen as reproducers is kept separately before spawning. Her feeding is carried out only with plant food, and the water temperature is 2-3 ° C higher than that which was in the general aquarium.
In the pre-prepared spawning tank (its volume is approximately 150 liters), a separator grid made of special materials is placed on the bottom. In the spawn should be perfectly clean water and a high percentage of aeration.
Features of the chemical composition in the direction of hardness indicators are not allowed.
The so-called “mating games” of fights are described when the male (he looks more slender and lean) picks up the female with his side fins and raises her to the surface of the water.
There, the female (fuller and clumsy) lays grayish caviar with 3000-4000 eggs in each laying. Eggs affected by diseases should be removed immediately.
From the moment of the end of this stage, manufacturers are resettled in a normal aquarium and observation is set up for caviar (within 16-18 hours).
Larvae appear from the eggs, which feed on the contents of the yolk sac for several days. They are immobile and not independent.
Just waiting for the moment when the fry starts moving, it is fashionable for him to offer special food. In the process of growth fry will not do without:
- Live dust or other similar feed.
The aquarium process of breeding such fish was not lucky enough to see everyone. Therefore, rather, it is a reference character to the description of similar cases on the Internet.
Lohakata themselves are not aggressive. If you choose peace-loving and kind fish (mollies, gourami, swordtails, veils, neons) as neighbors for them, life in the aquarium will be calm and balanced.
If you choose cichlids as neighbors in a water house, they will offend the fighters, constantly attack them, and may even bring them to death.
It is not recommended to try the compatibility of marble batts with such “owners of the territory” as barbs. Their cocky character contributes to the fact that there will be no redistribution of space.
This is especially undesirable for fighting because the barbs resolve disputes during the day, and they are not active at this time.
When choosing a company, it is useful to calculate how the requirements for the composition of the water are combined with the intended options. Only those who love soft clean water will feel comfortable here (for example, fighting a clown, tetra, iris and others).
Such aquarium dwellers, like marble battles, always arouse interest among lovers of the water world. Their appearance, character and habits bring a lot of positive emotions, and the ability to parallel purification of the aquarium brings practical benefits.
