How to feed a rooster fish: how many times a day, feed (dry, live), how to properly and often do, fry, how much live without feed

In nature, the cockerel is omnivorous, eating small crustaceans and insects near the surface of the water, plants and algae. Impervious in food, you can feed the cockerel fish with many types of food.

Fish can easily live without food for 2-3 weeks. The inhabitants of the aquarium do not need to search and get food, so the portions should be smaller than in the natural environment.

Often aquarium cockerels are less mobile, while eating more of their natural counterparts. A serving should be no more than 5% of the weight of the animal. Amount of food for one meal:

  • 1-2 dry granules;
  • medium sized flakes – 2-3 pieces;
  • bloodworm – 2-3 worm.
  • Feed your pet with different types of food, because the more varied the diet of the aquarium cock, the longer the fish will live. But do not give several types of food at a time.

    Do not feed the rooster dry food mixed with frozen or live.

    Useful in live view:

    The most affordable live food – bloodworm. Make sure that the feed is fresh, bright red. If you submit untreated insects and crustaceans, it is likely to infect the infection and parasites.

    Process live food in a solution of methylene blue (30-40 drops in 100 ml of water) for 15 minutes or in a solution of potassium permanganate of light pink color. Rinse, after which you can feed the inhabitants of the aquarium.

    Another convenient and effective way of processing is freezing.

    Sometimes feed aquarium pets:

  • salad leaves;
  • squash;
  • cucumbers;
  • peas;
  • spirulina;
  • nettle leaves;
  • spinach.
  • Before serving, scald with boiling water and finely chop the food, if necessary, remove the peel. Sometimes the need for plants is filled with dry food with herbal supplements.

    It should be 5-8% fiber in the diet.

    On sale there are special granules with a balanced composition. May be the basic diet. Before buying read the composition.

    Ensure that the protein content is at least 40%.

    Thin multi-colored plates are found in all pet stores. Cereals act as an addition to the diet of fish, do not feed the males with such food often. Males are suitable fortified formulations.

    Flakes for gold and tropical fish are not suitable. Flakes in bulk do not take, on the packaging should indicate the expiration date and composition. Do not feed pets with expired feed, even if it looks normal.

    Keep flakes in a dry place, do not allow moisture.

    Another version of the basic diet. There are universal feed for different types of fish and designed specifically for cockerels.

    Feed the roosters with dry feed with caution, because they swell the fish in the stomach and when overeating cause problems with breathing and swimming bladder.

    Frozen food sold as an alternative to live. It does not have to be defrosted. Dangerous if subjected to secondary freezing, stored under inappropriate conditions, low-quality live food was used in the composition.

    In addition to frozen insects, feed cockerels with finely chopped shrimps and low-fat fish fillets. The option of homemade “freezing” is optimal.

    With full nutrition, vitamins are not required. Vitamins help calm cockerels when moving or supplement the diet with necessary substances.

    To prevent overfeeding, fill in the amount of food that is eaten in a couple of minutes. If the rooster eats slowly, increase the time to 5 minutes.

    To feed the fish correctly, remember the following rules:

  • Wash your hands before feeding. Rinse the soap thoroughly off the hands.
  • Do not abuse dry foods.
  • Food from the table (zucchini, spinach or seafood) should not be salted, fried or oily. And also do not feed pets with sharp and acidic foods.
  • Once a week, arrange a fasting day.
  • Do not forget to feed pets. If there is no way to feed them at least once a day, get a car feeder.
  • The size of the food particles should match the size of the mouth. The chicken is uncomfortable to eat too large or small meals.
  • Feed your cock 1–2 times a day. Morning meal should occur no earlier than one hour after turning on the light.

    Malka, recently emerged from the stage of the larvae, let’s live dust, and as they grow:

  • Artemia nauplii;
  • ciliates;
  • rotifers;
  • boiled egg yolk;
  • microworm.
  • Feed fry cockerels from 6 times a day. Serve as much food as the fish eat in a couple of minutes. Remember that at the fry stage, cockerels are more vulnerable.

    Monitor the quality of food and clean water, do not overfeed.

    Common aquarists mistakes:

  • Beginners often feed a rooster who does not refuse to eat, even if he ate. In addition, due to large portions of water quickly grow cloudy.
  • Monotonous diet.
  • Neglect of herbal supplements.
  • Lack of cleaning after feeding. The uneaten food falls to the bottom, where it rots over time, reducing the quality of the water.
  • It happens that the cock does not react to the feed or spits it out. Reasons for not eating:

  • the fish is sick;
  • food particles do not fit;
  • the cockerel was not used to a particular dish;
  • The product offered is of poor quality.
