Good day, dear readers. If my memory serves me, then the blog has never been described fish from the family of calligate or armored catfish.
Today we will correct this situation and get acquainted with the bronze dianem. Bronze Dyanema is inhabited by the great Amazon River.
The fish tries to keep to the coastal areas of the river where the current is not so strong, as well as dianema occurs in various creek in the virgin forest, as well as in heavily silted forest lakes.
The back at dyanema forms an obtuse angle near the dorsal fin and gradually tapers towards the tail. The body itself is moderately elongated. A fatty fin is located near the abdomen of the fish.
In the center of the body there are several bone plates that are connected to other plates that are located between the fat and dorsal fins.
On the sharp face of the fish there is a pair of mustaches stretched forward. Dark spots are scattered all over the body, which form transverse and longitudinal lines in the center of the body.
These lines diverge from the center at an acute angle. The color of the fins is brownish yellow and they themselves are transparent in appearance.
In males, the rays of the pectoral fins are slightly elongated. The maximum length of the fish in aquarium conditions is about 8 centimeters.
The character of the bronze dyanema is peaceful and calm. This representative of calligates perfectly gets on with various peaceful aquarium fish (red neon, rhodostomus, swordtails, mollies and pearl gouras). If you get a flock of fish, then they try to keep in the lower or middle layer of water.
Dianem breathes atmospheric air and considering this point, it is desirable to cover the aqua with a cover glass so that the fish do not catch a cold by swallowing air above the water’s edge.
The only flaw in the content of this aquarium fish is that it muddies the water badly when it searches through the ground in search of food. To create excellent conditions of detention, the length of the water should be 60-80 centimeters. The preferred nature of the substrate is sand, but if you do not want the fish to work in your aquarium, it is not clear that you can use larger soils.
Just do not forget about the thickets of plants, stones, snags.
Parameters of aquarium water should be as follows:
- Temperature: 22 – 27 degrees;
- Water hardness: from 2 to 20 dH;
- Active reaction environment: 6.0 – 7.5 pH
Do not forget the same about water filtration and regular changes. You can feed your pets with live food and its various substitutes.
Bronze diadema reaches puberty at the age of one to one and a half. Spawning fish in a separate container, the volume of which must be at least 50 liters. In the spawning should be a bush floating aquarium plants floating on the surface.
This may be a pistis or a nymphea. Parameters of aquarium water in a spawning aquarium should be the same as in the general aquarium.
Dianema can also spawn in common aqua, but on condition that it has a floating plant.
For spawning a group of fish is selected, in which females should prevail. The spawning stimulation is a gradual decrease in the water level in the aquarium and a decrease in atmospheric pressure.
On the reverse side of the leaf of the plant, the male makes a foam nest, where the spawning takes place. Small eggs stick to the leaf of the plant.
Caviar can also be attached to the wall of the aquarium, if there is a nest nearby.
The calf is protected by a male. Unfortunately, the fry in the first days of life are highly susceptible to mold fungi, as well as small things that are sensitive to changes in the chemical parameters of aquarium water. To preserve the offspring, after darkening of the eggs, it is necessary, together with the substrate, to be transferred to a special incubator and add methylene acid to the water based on the proportion of 5 mg per 1 liter of water.
After 4 – 5 days, the fry are spawned from the eggs, which after another day begin to swim. You can feed small things with rotifers and nauplii of artemia.
