Hello colleagues! The aquarium fish Danio Dangila belongs to the carp family and in the aquarium environment it is also known by other names – Mustache danio and olive. In nature, this fish is found in the basin of the Ganges River as well as in the freshwater mountain streams of Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal and Bangladesh.
The color of the fish may vary depending on the geography of its habitat.
In danios dangyl there is a pair of whiskers on the head. The color of the fish varies from blue with a silvery shade to a pinkish brown.
On the sides you can see a scattering of dark spots. The abdominal and pectoral fins are yellow, the anal and dorsal fins are slightly yellowish, and the rest are transparent. The females do not have such a bright color in contrast to the males, but the females are distinguished by larger sizes and a rounded belly.
In nature, this aquatic species can reach 15 centimeters in length, but in aquarium conditions, a fish rarely reaches 10 centimeters.
Baleen danios are considered to be a peace-loving schooling fish, which preferably should be kept in small groups of up to 10 individuals. Since the fish is mobile, it needs a lot of free space for swimming.
Danio prefers to stay in the middle upper layers of water. This aquatic animal gets along perfectly with almost all peaceful fish, for example with corridors, antsistrusy, red neons. ornatus, rhodostomusy, marble and pearl gourami and mollies.
Dangila feel great in tanks of any size, the main thing is to cover them with a lid, otherwise all pets will jump out of the aquarium. The only caveat is the zealot’s demanding of water composition. Water should be constantly aerated and weekly in the aquarium should be replaced by 30-50% of water to fresh.
In nature, the fish eats small insects and larvae. But in aquariums, their diet expands significantly and aquatic organisms perfectly eat everything they give him.
Fish can also be fed with good dry food, but observations have shown that the greatest intensity of color can be achieved by feeding pets with frozen food – dwarf and artemia bloodworm.
It is not difficult to propagate olive danios. If females are ready to spawn, this can be noticed by an enlarged abdomen and by excessive excitation of the males.
For a week or two before the spawning of producers, they are set aside in different banks and provide them with abundant and varied food with a high content in the diet of live food. On one female there should be several males. In the meantime, it is time for an aquarist to prepare a spawning aquarium: lay large soil on the bottom, plant it with plants and stretch the separator net.
If the grid is not, then parents without remorse of conscience feast on their children.
Spawning water should have the following parameters:
- active reaction: pH 6-7;
- hardness: 2-8 degrees dGH;
- water temperature: 23-26 degrees;
- carbonate hardness should be minimal.
To stimulate spawning, you can add a little cold water every hour to a container with producers. After spawning is completed, the manufacturers remove from the aquarium, lower the water level in it and raise the temperature to 25-27 degrees. The incubation period of eggs takes 72 hours, after which fry are born.
You can feed them with live dust, cyclop nauplii, ciliates and other small dry food. As soon as the age of the fry reached 2.5 months. they can be transferred to a common aquarium.
Danio become sexually mature at the age of 6-8 months. Since danios tend to interbreed with other species of this family, it is not recommended to keep dugil in the same aquarium with other species of large danios.
