Danio – unpretentious schooling fish. Experienced breeders get fry once every 10–12 days, since danios breed all year round.
You can breed danios in a domestic pond without creating special conditions.
How to get offspring:
If the task is to maintain the well-being of the female, spawning takes place both in the general aquarium and in a small jar without creating conditions for the young.
7–11 days after breeding, repeated spawning is required. In total there are up to 6 throwing caviar in a row.
If repeated spawning is not carried out, the eggs overripe and become barren. The female carries overstocked eggs, not sweeping, which is dangerous for her health.
When landing in spawning, the female may hide from the male. This is a signal that the eggs have ripened or not formed. Sometimes it is necessary to rid the female of the calf by hand, holding the zebrafish with a wet cotton swab, and gently squeeze the caviar with your finger.
This is best done by professionals. After you spawn, the danios will spawn a week later.
Males should be 2 times more than females, as males help the fish to get rid of caviar. If there are more females, then place one part of the females in the spawn, and in another day another.
Before individuals breed, provide them with food:
If there is enough food, the fish understand that they need to breed. During the diet, the belly of the females will be filled with caviar.
Repot manufacturers in the evening.
After the relocation of the parents turn off the lights. Towards morning danios spawn.
The process may take 1-2 days. During this period, do not give food to producers.
If spawning danios does not occur, feed the fish and wait another 2 days. In case of failure, place the zebrafish in a common vessel.
After half a month, put aquarium fish on a protein diet, placing the danios of different floors in separate containers.
Since danios are killing, and not viviparous, the fish scatter eggs. There is no sharp transition between caviar and fry stages.
From the eggs of the larvae appear and turn into fry.
The male chases the female. This happens closer to the morning. The female produces about 200 gray eggs with a diameter of up to 1 mm.
Upon completion, seed the fish in a common aquarium.
Replace 2 thirds of the total water. Disinfect water by adding:
It happens that after a couple of hours after throwing the eggs whiten and become covered with cotton growths. This suggests a fungal infection or that the egg is infertile. Remove the white eggs with tweezers.
If the eggs turn white in large quantities, check the quality of the water. Maintain a temperature of 26–28 degrees and keep the fluid clean.
After two days the larvae begin to hatch.
The offspring remain motionless for several days. Larvae eat yolk sacs. For 5–6 days, serve the fry a special liquid feed, after a week – live dust.
After another week, add Artemia, Cyclops and boiled yolk to the diet. Sort the fry as they grow, so that the larger individuals do not oppress the smaller ones.
Feeding the fry should be frequent (2–4 times a day), care is reduced to sorting and maintaining cleanliness in the tank.
Danios become sexually mature 5–8 months, then the differences of the female from the male appear. A female can be identified by a rounded abdomen, a short and rounded anal fin, while in males the fin is long and angular. Males are thinner.
Drawing on the skin of males closer to spawning becomes more contrast.
Like many others, zebrafish breed in a common and spawning tank. Spawning often occurs without the knowledge of the host, the offspring is quickly eaten.

Fry in the general aquarium can be grown by placing shelters and plants. But most of the caviar and fry will be eaten by both parents and other danios.
Spawn in a separate 20–40 liter aquarium. At a height of 3 cm from the bottom place the separator grid.
It should reach without gaps between the walls, as it will be easy for adults to squeeze and eat caviar. Alternative to the grid – large balls with a diameter of 1 cm or spawning soil.
Eggs get lost among the pebbles and parents will not be able to get to them.
Both long-stem plants and ferns with mosses will do:
Pour water from the common tank into the spawning tank, mixing it with prepared soft water in a 1: 1 ratio. Permissible water height – 10 cm.
Fish refuse to breed for various reasons:
Danio – interesting fish, which are not characterized by the formation of a pair with the exception of some species. Golden and leopard varieties form a long-lasting pair before spawning.
