Content and reproduction of a parrot aquarium fish

Very often, beginners and professionals get bright and spectacular fish for their aquariums. These include the parrot aquarium fish.

This is a hybrid that does not exist in nature. Breeders do not disclose the secret of breeding this type of fish, as it brings a good income to the owners of fish farms to grow these individuals.

Parrot fish breeding is possible only by breeding.

Parrot fish – very much for lovers of bright fish.

By crossing several breeds, a completely new species was obtained. This fish has a curved spine., a tiny mouth that opens very badly.

It is for this reason that some individuals die from hunger.

Having a bright color and an unusual shape of the head, similar to a bird’s beak, the fish “acquired” the name of a parrot. Due to the huge demand for a small bright fish, breeders do not stop at what has been accomplished and bring out all new types of parrots. They are in color orange, bright red, yellow, white and even purple.

The wild imagination of breeders allowed them to produce even tattooed fish. However, such individuals often get sick and die.

Therefore, it is not necessary to buy such creatures so that there is no demand for their elimination.

The red parrot is an artificially bred species of aquarium fish.

Despite the large number of species of these fish, there are only a few basic breeds that can be divided by size and color:

  1. The reddish parrot has a body length of up to 26 cm.
  2. Skar – the length of the fish is up to 21 cm. This fish can be recognized by the characteristic band on the belly.
  3. The largest and most aggressive among all the parrots – it is a cone.
  4. Common parrot.

The aquarium parrot fish is undemanding to care and gets along well with different inhabitants. Both beginners and professionals can afford to have these funny fishes.

Special training and knowledge from the owners will not be required. The content in the aquarium fish parrot special trouble does not deliver.

Parrot fish prefer rocky bottom with grooves, crevices and caves to use as shelters.

Be sure to keep in mind that these species love to play agile, so you need to keep them in a large aquarium. Two fish need at least 200 liters of water.

In the aquarium should be:

  1. Powerful water compressor.
  2. Pump to create an artificial flow of fluid.
  3. To keep the water clean longer, you need a water filter.
  4. To maintain and control the temperature of the water you need a thermometer.
  5. Lamp for lighting.

Since parrots love to rummage in the ground, it is advisable to lay the bottom with smooth pebbles. The fish vegetation is calm, so you can plant any kind of vegetation in the aquarium. For convenience and comfort in the aquarium should be put some elements for shelter and spawning females.

Snags and medium-sized special dishes will do.

It is not worth much to clutter up the space, you need to leave a lot of space for nimble fish. The top of the aquarium should be closed, as playing parrots can jump out and die if they are not returned to the water in time.

All types of these fish are unpretentious in food and consume everything that they offer the owner. However, it is necessary to take into account the fact that due to problems with opening the mouth, individuals can not grasp every food. Lovers of these creatures should look at the behavior of the wards during feeding.

If the food remains uneaten, it may mean that the fish could not grab it and remained hungry. For individuals with problems with the structure of the body you need to use small food in pellets.

They must stay afloat for a long time and descend very slowly to the bottom. Feeding such food will allow the fish to get enough.

Coral polyps form the usual fish food, but some species also eat molluscs and other benthic animals.

For nutrition, parrots need a varied and balanced feed. One dry feed is harmful.

In the diet you need to add live food. in special feeders, vegetable food. They love to eat and vegetables, worms, shrimp meat.

After such a nourishing feeding, parrots need to arrange fasting days.

Sometimes the color of the wards may start to fade. This may be due to a lack of carotene in the feed or bright lighting in the aquarium.

Unfortunately, breeding is impossible in a natural way for aquarium parrot fish. Although this instinct has not lost the fish and their mating games can be observed.

Females build their nests, lay eggs, but the eggs remain unfertilized. Males of these species of fish are absolutely sterile, therefore parrots do not breed in the aquarium fish.

Small fish have a soft and friendly nature, so it should not be kept together with aggressive species, but living with fish of the same size, it can show territorial aggression.

The nature of the individuals is peaceful and friendly, they get along well with other types of aquarium fish with the same calm character. However, it is not necessary to settle them with small breeds – they can easily be taken for food and eaten.

Parrots live from 5 to 9 years, if their conditions are comfortable and the food is balanced, and grow to 29 cm, if the aquarium is quite spacious. They have good memory and intelligence, recognize their masters and always greet them near the walls of the aquarium.
