Breeding cockerels

Cockerel Fish: Siamese fighters are also no stranger to romance!

Those who are fond of aquarism, know for sure: the world of indoor fish is complex and extraordinary. It has its own rules and characteristics.

He is emotional, bright and ambiguous. And, first of all, thanks to such representatives as the Siamese Cockerel.

These aquarium fishes are a real demonstrator of inter-sex relations, the instinctive distribution of roles in a pair of individuals and the responsibility of each for their biological segment.

What is the process of playing their own kind with cockerels?

Breeding cockerels – this is exactly the action, which is worth at least once to see everyone. The versatility and depth of each stage simply amazes the human imagination. And it’s not just a smart play of colors.

Each movement, action or posture – a demonstration of emotions and moods, the expression of the inner state and impressions of what is happening.

Before you start mating, it is important to ensure the full value of the individuals involved in the future process.

Pick fish at the age of 12-15 months, better – the same. They must be healthy and fit. Better before choosing a week to watch their behavior.

With a visible causeless sadness, seeming fatigue and change in appearance is not worth the risk. It is better to stay with the result, but be confident in it.

The selected pair should be replaced. Then it is necessary for a couple of weeks to provide them with a full-fledged and high-quality ration consisting of components, neo
to ensure all biological characteristics. What to feed? Food may consist of crushed insects, crickets, bugs, bloodworms and artemia.

Dry food at this point should not be abused – it is poor in biologically active components, which are the building material for the organism of the future offspring.

This approach will ensure the usefulness of a large number of eggs for the development of children.

Selected and trained individuals are introduced closer by placing in adjacent aquariums. It is necessary to equip them beautifully and safely:

  • the walls must be transparent so that the fish can see each other;
  • plants should not create a threat to break fluffed tails and fins;
  • the ground should not have hard and sharp components so that the fish will not damage parts of their bodies;
  • in the habitat should be created the opportunity to hide and “be alone with his thoughts.”

The water should be fresh, clean, with a temperature of up to 26 ′, with an alkaline index in the interval 6.9 – 7.1.

Too bright lighting is not necessary, but not long-term natural insolation (exposure to sunlight) does not interfere.

From this point on, observation is the best friend of the one who decided to master the breeding of cockerels. This stage may have several options for development. A negative path is not excluded: the sympathy of the cockerels may not arise.

This will be noticeable even to an inexperienced aquarist. Unreasonable aggression or, on the contrary, complete indifference is the lack of mutual interest.

But, if the female cock looks tenderly and gently, her fins are somewhat pressed against the body, and a hint of vertical stripes or specks in the middle appeared on the body, she liked a new friend. The male manifestation of interest in reproduction can be manifested in two ways:

  1. increased aggression;
  2. preening by spreading the fins and tail, increasing the brightness of color, expressive behavior.

Observing such signs, you can be sure: a couple has taken place.

Spawning of cockerels should be continued in the same aquarium, but previously divided by a partition. From this point on, the fish can not only see, but also feel each other.

Some people call such contact olfactory, others – energetic, but the result is one – the interest should develop so that a positive outcome is inevitable.

During this period for breeding, it is important to maintain certain parameters in the aquarium: water temperature up to 28 ′, alkaline index ranging from 6.9 to 7.1, stagnation and dirt are unacceptable. In order to avoid jumping out, it is better to cover the aquarium with a transparent lid or a special net, which does not exclude the enrichment of air above the water surface with fresh oxygen.

Do not forget, cockerels – labyrinth fish, they are able to get oxygen from the air, and not just from the water.

The male begins to build his “air” lock – a nest consisting of air bubbles glued together with his biological fluid. Such a building looks like a sea foam, light and defenseless, like the air itself.

On such a homemade pillow, the male is going to place his future offspring. This is truly: the royal box!
After two or three days – the peak of the process. The partition is removed, but observed even more carefully.

The fact is that the kind behavior of the future pope is limited to the period while the female spawns. At the moment when the female decides to do this, he will:

  • help her, slightly squeezing her barrels;
  • collect blurred eggs and place them in the nest;
  • curl around the female and try to please her.

When the roe is collected in its intended place and fertilized, the rooster’s loyal behavior may end. He can see his further functions in protecting potential offspring from damage.

Seeing in the female a threat to them, such a parent again shows aggression towards her and can be beaten to death. Therefore, the “mother” is better to plant.

However, if negative changes abruptly happen to the male (he gets sick, dies), she is ready to protect her eggs from damage, and her descendants from potential enemies.

In the future, several
About days, the male spins around offspring – waiting for their breeding. At this point, it is important to exclude sudden movements of water in the aquarium, so that the eggs are preserved intact.

Of course, out of 500-600 deferred eggs are unlikely to remain capable of at least half, but even ten to twelve fry remaining will be enough to consider the process effective.

The fry that have appeared from the eggs are timid and defenseless. That is why they can seduce a male to eat them.

The first and second day are the most dangerous period. At this point, the rooster can also be deposited in another aquarium and allow the fry to grow up and get stronger.

The rooster fry should be fed with infusoria, microworms, acetic eels, and also a special industrial feed for rooster fry for one to two weeks. This option should be prepared in advance if it is decided to breed offspring.

It is important to create a stable balance of temperature, acidity and hardness in the aquarium. Drastic changes should not occur. The fish should not receive stress from the conditions in which it resides.

The peculiarity of the period is the creation of aeration of water, which is usually not needed for males. Babies have not completed the formation of a labyrinth apparatus, therefore the rooster fry cannot breathe water with an insufficient amount of oxygen.

A couple of weeks the little rooster is counting on passive feeding. It is better when there is a separate small water house for him. There should be no competitors in the food and interference for movement.

In addition, fry that are of interest to large fish as feed may not survive.

Further tactics depend on the inhabitants of the main aquarium. In the absence of predatory, too large, mobile and aggressive individuals, the young fry can be relocated, but not earlier than three or four weeks.

To breed cockerels is a simple matter, much more important is to save them until they enter the period of adult life.

Taking into account all the nuances described, the conclusion is that it is impossible to fully answer the question: “How do cockerel fish breed?” Only theoretically is impossible. This is a must see!

Experienced emotions will long remain in the memory.
